GreenDay3213 Posted September 7, 2012 Posted September 7, 2012 Today Ultimate Guitar voted the song Longview number 10 in its Top 10 Basslines Of All Time article. Its great to see it in the list, and I'm sure its the only one in the list that was made with the magical power of Acid. Heres a link: http://www.ultimate-guitar.com/news/entertainment/top_10_basslines_of_all_time.html Nice Job Mike Dirnt!
Clockwise Posted September 7, 2012 Posted September 7, 2012 Pretty awesome, but it's number one for me.
Femme Gauche Posted September 7, 2012 Posted September 7, 2012 Of course, someone commented "I thought the Green Day entry was the joke". >_>. That's a classic bassline, I don't care what you say. In a few of those ( I gave quick listens to one or two) the bassline was barely audible... I'll grant RHCP and definitely Queen, though.
Annie, get your gun Posted September 7, 2012 Posted September 7, 2012 For me is N. 1 too And it's always funny when they tell the story around it
TheGreenDayKidd Posted September 7, 2012 Posted September 7, 2012 It should be No. 1, but still awesome!
Hermione Posted September 7, 2012 Posted September 7, 2012 It is a pretty nifty little bassline! Glad to see it on the list Also fuck that YYZ song, took me hundreds of attempts to 5 star that on Guitar Hero. And it's always funny when they tell the story around it So true . I bet it has the best story behind it of the lot.
Guest Posted September 7, 2012 Posted September 7, 2012 Glad to see Would by AIC on that list too. One of my all time favorites.

Femme Gauche Posted September 7, 2012 Posted September 7, 2012 I'd put Queen at #1, and then Green Day at #2. XD.
Heather. Posted September 7, 2012 Posted September 7, 2012 and I'm sure its the only one in the list that was made with the magical power of Acid. Why would you assume that? I assume all good music is made by drugs until told otherwise
frunsi Posted September 7, 2012 Posted September 7, 2012 i prefer no one knows over longview... good choices on that list though
Kristy_TheIdiot Posted September 7, 2012 Posted September 7, 2012 Today Ultimate Guitar voted the song Longview number 10 in its Top 10 Basslines Of All Time article. Its great to see it in the list, and I'm sure its the only one in the list that was made with the magical power of Acid. Heres a link: http://www.ultimate-...f_all_time.html Nice Job Mike Dirnt! And I can play all of them Anyway, yeah, it's a ranking of the cock and very approximate.
cabot_girl Posted September 7, 2012 Posted September 7, 2012 Longview has great basslines, but I have to say Journey to the end of the east bay by Rancid should be on that list. That bassline is amazing!!!!
Femme Gauche Posted September 7, 2012 Posted September 7, 2012 Longview has great basslines, but I have to say Journey to the end of the east bay by Rancid should be on that list. That bassline is amazing!!!! Yes! I agree that one is killer.
StarKiller Posted September 7, 2012 Posted September 7, 2012 Basically I can agree with that list. I'm only missing Hysteria by Muse. It's just epic.
Vic_Rattlehead Posted September 8, 2012 Posted September 8, 2012 Cool list, but I hate that Another One Bites the Dust is always rated as John Deacon's best. Millionaire Waltz and You're My Best Friend have epic basslines. And I hate to be that guy, but not one single McCartney Beatles bassline on this list? He pretty much invented melodic bass.
BradGreenDay Posted September 8, 2012 Posted September 8, 2012 It should be number 2... Because Money really deserves to be number 1 because Pink Floyd is probably one of the biggest bands of all time.
Ritz Posted September 8, 2012 Posted September 8, 2012 Its always number one for me. Havent quite covered it on my bass, I'm close but yeah I make mistakes all the time.
ThibautDookie Posted September 8, 2012 Posted September 8, 2012 Imagine you were Billie and you came in, and you saw Mike playing bass on LSD. I imagine Billie's face when he saw Mike Great bassline !
.Holly Posted September 8, 2012 Posted September 8, 2012 Great! I would definitely put Longview in my top 5 GD songs, and one of the reasons I love it so much is the kick ass bassline. For me longview is one of those timeless songs that will never wear out and will always be one of my favourites.
BringMoreKnives Posted September 8, 2012 Posted September 8, 2012 Should be #1 in my opinion Basically I can agree with that list. I'm only missing Hysteria by Muse. It's just epic. Ah, indeed
in_your_face Posted September 8, 2012 Posted September 8, 2012 awesome work, Dirnt! you made us proud
