So GDA posted a story about the new Gibson Signature Billie Joe guitar, which is basically a double cut away les paul junior with an H-90 instead of a P-90 (same deal as the last BJ Jr.). Article says it is to be released August 20th, but Musiciansfriend and Guitarcenter.com both took the pages for the guitar down...anyways I want your thoughts on the guitar, will you buy and why the sudden removal.

If I could afford it then I suppose I could be tempted by the tv yellow..... Mmm...

Then again, it’s a double cutaway so maybe not. The standard les paul is a much better looking guitar in my opinion.

Also, is an H-90 really any different? I think I’d rather just get the junior special or something. I think that has two P-90s and does’t cost a great deal more. And the satin ebony finish from the Hall of Fame performance was pretty cool.

I love Green Day, but billie joe’s name on the headstock (or is it back of the neck now or something?) doesn’t make it worth it for me.

I have the white and sunburst les Paul jr and a few other LP jrs and a les Paul special. The feel of the special is totally different because of the different heals. The h90 does make a difference. It feel hotter but really isn't noise canceling in the least. I love my special for the playability and sound. It has a satin finish and it actually fades and looks great. Gives it that worn in look.

I wouldnt mind the double cut but I would switch out the pickguard and the pickup for a normal P-90 since I just love the more raw and warm sound of the P-90 than the H-90...oh but I gotta say i'm disappointed that it doesn't come in the custom hardshell case. It looks much better and provides way more protection than a gig bag haha.

I like P90s but I really am enjoying the H-90. My special has the P-90s and I love it, but it's nice to have a change.

I've promised myself I'll buy a BJA signature guitar for my 21st... Which model? I'm not sure of that, but I do love the LPJ ebony finish

Fuck, will it be ONLY double cutaway? 'cause I hate them, a regular single cutaway Les Paul shape would be so much better.

He already has a single cutaway one. He has for years now

I know, I own the Vintage Sunburst one. ;)

I'm only asking because I was hoping for a color update - I'd love to see his '59 TV Yellow one reissued.

I always love this duble cutway yellow guitar in Billie's hand's and i always feel happy when he use this guitar on 21st Cemtury Breakdown.

So when i get money i'm sure that i buy it :)

Wouldn't it be awesome to have a silver sparkle Les Paul Jr. I wouldn't buy it, because its a sliver sparkle guitar but still it would be awesome just to see it...

Like the one in the Oh Love video? My god I would love to have one of those.

As I said, I don't like double cutaways and would've preferred a LPJ single cutaway in TV Yellow. Just my 2 cents.

Anyway, I wonder why there's no info on this model on the Gibson homepage...

Also why did gc and musiciansfriend take down their sites?

Are you talking about the Custom Shop V.O.S. Junior which is like 2,600 bucks?

nah its the epiphone reissue that was limited edition, was about $800

I have the Les Paul Jr. in ivory and I love it. I have the Mike Dirnt P-Bass and have learned to love and appreciate the bass riffs that Mike plays. Last winter I saved up enough to buy the j-180 and it's fucking great as well. AND as the maker of Blue replicas on BJGuitars.com I, of course, have several replicas of Blue.

So, yeah, I was DEFINITELY going to buy the new sig guitar and actually came on here right now to start a topic to see why those pages were removed. I can't even find any info on them when I google it.

What gives???

I was actually just about to put a down payment on an LP Jr. Double Cutaway in TV Yellow (the reissue one, basically my dream guitar), and they suddenly got sold out everywhere they were available. I was absolutely pissed. But then one day later the news of this model popped up. I'm actually kinda glad about that cause I prefer thinner necks.

Looks like I'll probably get myself one of these instead and maybe switch out for a normal P-90 (although I haven't actually heard the H-90 firsthand, so we'll see) and switch out the pickguard or remove the Adeline logo.

I just really hope it does end up coming with a hardshell case (or they lower the price to account for that).

"Ivory"? You mean Ebony, right? :P

Good man, I own his Les Paul Junior in Vintage Sunburst and the J-180 too. Both are great guitars, with the J-180 being the best sounding acoustic guitar I've ever played, and I've held a lot of Gibsons - many of them costing over 5k - in my hands already.

I have to admit I'm a bit disappointed that the new Billie Joe Junior is only a double cut LP. Moreover, a few more colors to chose from wouldn't hurt imo. But DAMN it really bugs me that there's not gonna be a single cutaway LPJ in TV Yellow. :D

I thought the same. Would much rather have a junior. Love those.

And by junior I'm talking 57 les Paul nomnom

Nope. Perhaps I should have used the layman's term. I have the "white" one.

I have no idea about any technical guitar stuff, but oooohhhhh pretty yellow.

I like yellow.
