ChelseaDagger
I think it's an interesting interpretation of the song. If it weren't for the actual words "Oh love" it even fits the lyrics. It's not exactly love though. Should've been "oh lust" or something. "Oh Lust" Haha! I like it! I am looking forward to seeing the whole video. It's Green Day, it's new, and therefore I'm excited. Gwen Stacy
I think everybody's kind of overreacting to the scantily clad women. They had dancing girls shaking it in the Last Of The American Girls video but nobody seemed to care then. I am going to see what they do with the video before I completely freak out

solongfromthestars
Thanks a lot for posting the clip! Well I doubt even more that this video is ever going to be my thing, but whatever. Only have to watch it once like most of Sam Bayer's videos, won't let it spoil the song for me.

Heather.
Billie Joe doing the Lady and the Tramp spaghetti thing made this a lot more accessible to me I don't think that's a dude, though. If in the R-rated version all that changes is we see the topless fronts of these ladies, I'll be totally fine just watching the PG one.
1039SweetChildren
So the video is basically a glossy live version of the song with a sex party going on? Cool.

joeysturkeyhead
Everyone should just stop the fucking hysteria! It's just a video. sure, I'm not to crazy about it either, but it's just a fucking video. You don't have to like everything they do, not every song, not every video. So if you don't like it, just don't! Stop making such a big deal about it!
Tabeeb
Eh, it seems okay, I don't think I'd be watching it everyday though.
Iminyourcoffeemaker
You were just plainly telling me to shut up because I was European lol I just think their looks will always have the same importance as now. I am the first one who doesn't want to have a new generation of fangirls and gruopies, so I hope we don't get one. Yet I guess if that happens the staff will find the right way to keep the fangirling out of here. I didn't say shut up. I said get out. But of course, I was just kidding. I just went to Europe actually. Made me a tad bit upset that I am American.
joeysturkeyhead
But this video isn't showing what the band is. It's showing what the song is. It's not a documentary, it's there to visually represent or maybe add another meaning to the song. The song is about love, lust and desire, so it seems like this video is going to represent that in some way. Saying it's non-authentic is like saying the Nice Guys Finish Last video is non-authentic because Green Day isn't really a sports team. It's a fictional video about a song. Also, who cares what kind of fans Green Day have or what other people think of their image? Personally I enjoy it when they irritate people with the things they do. As long I like what they're doing I'm not bothered, other people whinging about it just makes me laugh. Especially when they're getting irritated by a few seconds long clip of a video they haven't even seen yet Excactly, you can't judge them after a music video. Like you said, a music video represents a song. And in one interview Mike said something about music videos providing too much of an image. It's true. Mary Daze
I agree with most people saying that the sneek peek (the less 30 seconds one we had a few pages ago) made them feel a bit uncomfortable. My first reaction to it was... oh well, an open mouth! I literally had to watch it over and over again to realize it is Billie, Mike and Tré that were interacting with these girls. As already mentioned a houndred times: I don't really care what these girls wear (or not wear...) when they are dancing around in their videos while the band is playing the song on their instruments. Like in LOTAG or Holiday, these girls were nice to look at dancers, they were funny and I really have no problem that they are younger than the guys. BUT when I saw the first sneek peek with that model rolling around with somebody whose back looked a lot like Billie's I didn't take care about what the song is all about .. I was pretty shocked. I didn't feel like watching it any longer and just pulled that sneek peek into the little box in my head called ''Caution! Do not give any attention to this until you can clarify what it is in detail!!''. I didn't feel like judgeing that short video. Sure there were a lot of questions and worries in my head going round. It was like seeing a picture with some people crying, you don't know why they were crying. Did someone die? Were they crying because of happyiness because the won the lottery? Was it a family that was worried about their son being in army and seeing terrible pictures in the news? You can't tell anything from that little sneek peek because you just can see a little bit from the whole story. So I thought: maybe it makes more sense to me when I'll see the whole video and can compare it with the lyrics of the song. It might turn out to be completely different from what I've expected after that sneek peek preview. I was fine with the idea of waiting. Now, after the WHOLE sneek peek went online (that one posted a few hours ago or so), so I opened the little box in my brain and decided to watch it. I was curious to know if it'll make a difference from what I thought about the video before. It did! Billie doing that spaghetti thing made me laugh and kind of less worried about the video being ''just about showing what cool rockstars they were and that they could have every girl'' as I thought when I saw the first pictures of the music video. Now I'm cool with the video. Hermione said ''it is representing the song and not the band'' and I just can say that I totally agree with her! I kept hopeing the video wasn't about the cool life as a rockstar, yes, maybe because I am a girl (because all the guys seem to look forward to this video pretty much and the girls are more worried about it), but as I discussed with Luisa about that all yesterday, I thought: ''maybe it will be about what a cool life as a rockstar they COULD have but they don't choose to live it because they are really happy to have their wifes (as we could see in that interview)''. To be honest: I'm not worried any longer what this video will be alike. If I don't like it, I can still enjoy the music, I don't have to watch the video every time I listen to that song. If I do like it, everything is fine. damn, that was a huge post.
solongfromthestars
A video doesn't even have to represent the song. It's just the director's idea, like the WMUWSE video has nothing to do with the song.

joeysturkeyhead
They did say that Tré was gonna be like the clean up after the party, so maybe that's where the lesson comes If you think about it, maybe Sam Bayer wanted to represent that. Well I didn't really enjoy watching it, but I gues there's some kind of meaning with it. Tré is probably going to represent the consequences of partying or something, so people if this makes you calm down a bit, thank me

petros
Can somebody, in few words, explain me why you don't mind girls being in a video but you mind when they interact with the guys? I can understand that some of the young boys and girls feel a little weird cause they're not sexually mature yet but what's up with all the hate? I wouldn't like it at all if it was just the guys performing and the girls dancing cause then it would be like the "mainstream pop" video you're talking about... I wouldn't like it at all if it was just the guys performing and the girls dancing cause then it would be like the "mainstream pop" video you're talking about... I didn't ''hate'' it at any point. Well, it's just.. they are all happily married, we've all seen Billie and Adrienne together for the past 18 years. It's like your dad is walking into the living room with a girl in his arm (or rolling with her around in the living room ), even if it's only a joke or something. It's just.. weird and irritating, you have no idea what is going on in the first moment and I personally didn't think about the lyrics immediatly. I know, Billie is not my dad. and it's not real life either but hmm, I hope you understand my point. On the other hand, polarizing like that is good, it is something new they try and.. Let's see how it'll turn out to be.
