emenius Posted October 10, 2025 Posted October 10, 2025 Basket Case used in the trailer for Yorgos Lanthimos’ new film Bugonia with Emma Stone and Jessie Plemons. Also apparently features prominently in the movie. 1 Quote
Dingle Posted October 11, 2025 Posted October 11, 2025 It's a sad sad day after learning that MTV channel, launched in 1981, has confirmed it will stop showing rolling music videos after 4 decades. It blames video-sharing apps such as YouTube and TikTok have killed MTV. Back in early '90, there was no streaming, no downloading, no smart phones. Access to internet was limited and expensive, as where computers. MTV ruled. If a band wanted to me noticed then a music video of a song on MTV on many occasions influenced single and album sales. Back then a big part of each day was to watch MTV. One of the first music videos I saw was Longview, which at it's hight got aired several times a day for months. Thanks for the memories MTV. https://www.pressreader.com/ireland/irish-daily-mail/20251011/281968908889011 1 2 Quote

I always get excited when it's a song I know, but maybe never seen the music video. I feel like Spotify, Youtube etc. have ruined bands in general. Buying CD's and whatnot supports the band way more than streaming. At least radio still exists (for now until SiriusXM takes over). Yup, pretty sad. 1 Quote

My all time fav' MTV show has to be at the 'Live at MTV 120 minutes programme' from 1994. Great interview plus GD performing on stage at their awesome best. Still get goose bumps every time I watch this. 1 3 Quote
hyStєяiA Posted October 20, 2025 Posted October 20, 2025 (edited) A sign in front of a store I walk past pretty often has a "danger electrocution" sign and has almost the same thing as the logo from warning. It's not really a refernece, but it akes me smile every time I see it Edited December 30, 2025 by hyStєяiA Quote

Mollyluna Posted December 9, 2025 Posted December 9, 2025 We‘re currently watching „Pluribus“ on Apple TV (recommend, by the way). And I think it’s in the third episode when the main character Carol meets some of the others not affected by the „virus“. She gets frustrated and shouts „Good riddance! ….. (bla bla) … Go and have the time of your lives!“ Intentional reference? 3 Quote

Don’t know. In the midst of all those things she screamed it didn’t sound that awkward. At least to me, but I‘m not a native speaker…. 2 Quote
