Love Billie's yellow "X" patch on his jacket in the MTV video. I want one! :)

I'm noticing the lyrics a bit more now but they're a bit too vague for me.

Worked out the lyrics offline with a few friends -- there's a new SOTW thread for Oh Love that just went up, and I'll post there in a minute. It'll blow your mind, I promise.

I admit that I listened to about half of this last night and did not like it at all. But now that I've listened to it again (and again and again), I'm hooked. It sounds so new, yet like something they could've easily put out pre-AI.

That video is hideous though.

I'm sure you've been told by now, but that's cause it's meant to be viewed with 3-d glasses :P

Therein lies the challenge, my grasshopper! :whistle

Oh I know

I thought about it after reading a comment somewhere (I think it was on the RS review of Oh Love) saying it sounds like old Green Day, and I have to say I agree that it does :) To me it has an old Green Day feel, but with better equipment :P

So kinda sorta in a way, it's not necessarily a "new" sound persay. It's more of a revisit of an old sound with a new twist ;)

I slept humming the chorus last night but couldn't sleep. I was continuously humming the chorus and hooked to it. Finally I had to get up in the middle of the night to listen to the song -_-

I listened to it a couple of times, then sweet sleep embraced me. Epic. Green Day is giving me sleepless nights !

Yeah, I saw that after I posted. My computer is a few years old, but I tried it anyway. I guess it doesn't have '3d compatibility'.

All you need to see the video in 3D are the old-school red and blue glasses. There's no need for a new monitor with the latest 3D technology.

These will do:

As soon as I need those, we don't have them anymore

The more I listen to Oh Love, the more I like it. It's definitely become better than when I first listened to it.

Green Day Rumors posted this on twitter: "Wal-Mart is going to be exclusively releasing an Oh Love EP on August 14th! Not sure what tracks this will include. Funny it's at Wal-Mart.."

So, I looked for it on Walmart's website and found it: http://www.walmart.com/ip/21270362

I called the radio right now to ask them to play it and the guy told me it was going to be on the 9-O-Clock Riot. Which btw is the top 5 most requested songs of the day. I was think maybe 4 or 5, but nope it was #1 =D. Haha I only requested 2 times today too!

The song might be getting buried a bit on iTunes, but it's up to #6 on AmazonMP3!

http://www.amazon.com/Oh-Love/dp/B008LX79QG

Remember to give it a boost by using the promo code HEARTMP3 for $2 MP3 credit.. and since the song is only 25 cents, you get it totally free.. and can get other songs too if you really want!

Wish I knew about the promo code before I bought it  But 25 cents to hear a song that touches my soul is no great loss :P

Why the hell would anyone buy an mp3 on iTunes for $1 more, then? I hardly ever pay for mp3s, so I never realized Amazon was so much cheaper. No wonder Oh Love is doing so poorly on iTunes... all the smart people are buying it on Amazon :D

Just to confirm that the video is, literally word for word, what's in the article itself. Nothing else at all, so don't feel too bad about not being able to see it :)

Thanks! :)

Finally had the chance to listen to it a decent amount. It's grown on me, but it's still kind of disappointing. Like others said, I was waiting for a build-up type thing, but then it just fell flat. I think a lot of it has to do with the song being 5 minutes, if it was cut down to 3 or so I think it wouldn't give off the "drags on" feeling. That being said, it's certainly not my least favorite GD song, and hell, there's still 3 albums worth of songs I can enjoy.

Also, about the iTunes thing, (currently #69 on iTunes; #11 on Alternative) don't forget too - once the video's released it'll help to bump it up a few. The thing is, if you scroll through the top singles, there's hardly any rock bands on there besides the Killers, No Doubt, and Train.

It's really depressing to look at basically all of the artists above Green Day... I have to imagine the fact that there's no video yet has a lot to do with why it's not selling---not too many people besides Green Day fans know it exists. That plus the lack of advertising on the iTunes homepage. No Doubt's at #5 and I really don't think they have more fans, but they put out their video already and have a main ad on the iTunes homepage. (Not to mention the song sounds like a Gwen Stefani solo hip-hop track that's more in keeping with the shit currently on radio :P) I think with a bit more radio play and the music video, Oh Love should shoot upwards a bit.

The more I listen to it, the more I love it, and the more I think it's the best thing on radio right now. The more I hear it the more I think it deserves to be #1, and that's the only reason I care about its place in the charts... not so much for any other reason other than, this song deserves to be heard by more people, and that's not happening...yet.

The thing with No Doubt is that their song was overhyped to no end because it was their first song in like 400 years or something. I do find it weird how there's no advertising on the iTunes front page, and I'm thinking that's one of the reasons why it's slumping down the chart. Most people nowadays aren't gonna go out (besides us) and rush to buy the newest Green Day single, unless it had made that jump over to pop stations.

I guess we'll just have to wait and see what happens when Uno and the Oh Love video come out.

I keep checking the playlist history of this Dutch radio station to see if they have played Oh Love and how often. Yesterday they only played it once early in the morning :(

I'm surprised too---I remember KYE jumped pretty quickly just because people were so starved for Green Day. And this is so much more of a pop song. It jumped from 130 to 100 to 70 relatively quickly, but it's already at a very slow climb since then. Hopefully it's one of those songs that just needs to simmer a bit.

I wonder if there's a glitch in iTunes because I purchased the song before it was technically available (before you could actually click on the song, but could still click "buy"), maybe they didn't record all those purchases or something.

I was thinking that too because that happened to me :/ And later when I clicked on it it still had the option for me to buy it which it normally disappears when you buy a song.

This was on Radio “Pile Of Crap” 1 today:

"That is new from Green Day, it’s called Oh Love. Its actually their US single, the first UK single is gonna be called Kill The DJ, which they might want to do after I say “that’s rubbish”..... "

That explains a lot. Judging by the the ripping apart they got, I’m kind of glad it’s not a UK single. Seems like it would have fallen flat on its arse if it had...

ah cheers for that. Hopefully we get to hear it sooner rather than later.

still no harm in trying to get Oh Love. You can request songs added to itunes here

Moreover, No Doubt did not stream their song on YouTube for free like Green Day did. I noticed ads to pre-order UNO are popping up on YouTube videos.

I never buy stuff from iTunes, this was the first time in years... and it still has the option for me to buy it too, after the fact. I have a feeling something got fucked up with the system.
