Jet Taman Posted June 23, 2012 Posted June 23, 2012 Emily's Army tonight at their show in Baltimore. For those of you who have read my book, you read that I gave my Read Day (educational Green Day music) to Joey last year at the show to pass along to his dad. I wrote about it in my book so tonight, I may have to add a chapter about giving not only my book to pass along to his dad, but also a 94 version of Blue I made. Hopefully they decide to utilize it in some way to raise some money for the actual Emily's Army Cystic Fibrosis Fund by getting both Green Day and Emily's Army band to autograph it. Wish me luck, everybody. Anyone else going to the show?
Heather. Posted June 23, 2012 Posted June 23, 2012 Great idea! Make sure you suggest they try to use it to raise money for CF! I'm sure they'll really appreciate it.
Sixtrix Posted June 23, 2012 Posted June 23, 2012 Good luck man! I think you are going to make them very happy tonight
-Billiejoezee- Posted June 23, 2012 Posted June 23, 2012 Great idea! Make sure you suggest they try to use it to raise money for CF! I'm sure they'll really appreciate it. That's a fantastic idea!
Silent Duck Posted June 23, 2012 Posted June 23, 2012 Sounds like an excellent idea, hope they run with it! Also if you insert a comma in the topic title after "BJ", it becomes a lot more filthier!
Jet Taman Posted June 24, 2012 Author Posted June 24, 2012 Just got back from the show! Awesome time of course. The band sounded great, they looked like they were having a fucking blast up there. They seemed to recognize me from last year's show and I also had a "Cole Becker for Junior Class President" T-shirt on that I had made from a picture they had posted on Twitter. They pointed me out in the crowd and told me they loved the shirt. I had the guitar in a backpack case that I had on during the show and afterwards my new buddy Olivia and I went outside to the merch table. The band was bringing out their equipment and a few people had gathered around to get pictures and get things signed. After most of the people there got their pics taken, I told Cole I wanted to get a picture with the band with my BJ Guitar. The band came over and remembered me from last year and remembered my guitars and Read Day CD's. , I regretted not getting my picture with them with the guitars the last time I saw them, so I wanted to make sure I got a pic this year. They took a picture with it and soon other people were taking pictures of the guitar and inquiring about it and wondering if it was Billie's actual guitar. (One guy told me that there was a rumor that Pinhead Gunpowder was going to play the show and the guitar I had proved it to him that they were. I had to let him down easy...) After they again said how much they liked it, I said, "I'm giving this guitar to you. You can do whatever you want with it--you can play it, you can give it to Joey's dad, but I was thinking that you guys could sign it, maybe have Green Day sign it, and then sell it on auction for your guys chariity (Emily's Army--the Becker's cousin Emily who has CF)". At first they weren't sure what exactly what was happening. I repeated. "This is yours, guys, this is your guitar." They were all very grateful and couldn't believe it. Cole gave me a hug and thanked me very much. I then told Joey I had a book for him to read on his flight back. I handed him my "My Green Days" book (http://www.lulu.com/...t-20152362.html by the way if anyone is interested ) and briefly told him about it. I told him there was even a chapter about Emily's Army in there. I wrote a little note to Billie inside and I told Joey that I wasn't sure if he ever got around to giving his dad my Read Day CD's last year, but please try to give the book to his dad. He said he would. Everyone thanked me and I told them to let me know how they use the guitar. They asked me to send them the pictures of them with the guitar that I took on my camera. It's another chapter in my book! haha! But I'm really glad I got the opportunity to help out in some way and I hope it raises a lot of money for their charity (www.emilysarmy.com) . If Emily's Army is coming to a town near you, you GOTTA check them out. They are a great band to watch. I'll keep everyone posted if I hear anything more!
Heather. Posted June 24, 2012 Posted June 24, 2012 Congrats! That is an awesome story and I'm sure the story is not over! Hopefully this won't be the last we see/hear of that guitar. I'm glad you had such a great time at the show and a great talk with the guys.
July21 Posted June 24, 2012 Posted June 24, 2012 that's awesome! i'm sure it won't take long till we get some information about what has happened to the guitar

Sixtrix Posted June 24, 2012 Posted June 24, 2012 Nice! It would be really cool if Joey would pass your book to Billie Joe And I am very curious what they will be doing with your guitar. Hopefully we will find out very soon
Jet Taman Posted June 25, 2012 Author Posted June 25, 2012 OH YEAH! I forgot to mention that I was telling Joey that I've been playing guitar to my son since the day he was born (he's 5 years old now) and he wants to be a fucking drummer (very much like Billie Joe and Joey), so Joey signed a set of drumsticks for my son, Sawyer. I saw Larry Livermore there again this year and once again thanked him for all that he's done for music over the years and his reply was, "Okayyy...". And then I got a picture with him...
Heather. Posted June 25, 2012 Posted June 25, 2012 LMFAO at Larry's reply "Okaaaay" What a badass motherfucker. So sweet getting the drum sticks for your son! You've got a nice parallel life happening there
