On this week's "Static Noise" we talk about Green Day inducting Gun's & Roses into the Hall of Fame and have an in-depth conversation about the upcoming trilogy of Green Day albums. This is definitely one of our longest episodes yet, but I promise it's mildly interesting for Green Day fans.

I apologize for the length of this episode, but if you manage to get through all of the little news at the beginning I think you guys will really enjoy the conversation we have about the three albums.

Thanks for having me on, guys. It was quite fun. :)

You guys will enjoy this episode--definitely worth the rather awkward start, i.e. our Fearless Leader.

I enjoyed the discussion very much! doesnt matter how long it is when its good stuff. insightful yet still funny as hell, nice

Damn i feel so stupid for having no idea what the song of the week is... even Andres knows it!

I liked the talk about filler songs, for me Nimrod has always stood out to me as a filler song filled album. After Redundant the album kind of drops off until King for a Day though I do enjoy Platypus and Haushinka.

I'm 1 hour 30 minutes in, I'm gonna be so dissapointed it I don't hear the calculator really soon!

There should've been a whole viral advertising thing for this episode...yknow, Andres tweets saying it's two hours long and stuff in such a way that no one really believed it.

Then Bam! Haha, actually two hours! Or they could've released 40 minutes every two days.

Wow, long podcst! I really enjoyed hearing your in-depth conversations about Green Day's music. I love that! I just wish I could be there discussing it with you.

I just wanted to respond to a few things you talked about -

To me, filler is just when a song doesn't have anything special to it, nothing that sets it apart from other songs they've done. A song doesn't necessarily have to "advance" a story in the album - pretty much everything will actually contribute to it because all the different songs make up a whole, like a mosaic. It doesn't all have to be of the same cut and color, but together it paints a more complete and diverse picture. Different sides or nuances in the general theme of the album. To me, a good song is musically interesting and has meaningful lyrics. Songs like Peacemaker and Restless Heart Syndrome and East Jesus Nowhere are all excellent songs, with unique music that doesn't sound like their other songs. But something like See The Light is a little more filler-ish, because the instrumentation is so similar to other songs.

However, I don't really think any songs are really "filler" - it's all a matter of taste, and everyone has different opinions. Some of my favorite GD songs are others' least favorites, and vice versa. It's really subjective. (That's why it can be painful to listen to the podcast and hear you hating on my favorite songs, lol; I love both their instrumentals, and Extraordinary Girl!! And pretty much everything except Dominated Love Slave...)

I like how Mikey points out how we've all dreamed of Green Day releasing all their material like on 3 albums, and now that they are people are freaking out and think it might be a bad idea. Personally, I think an album trilogy is awesome, and people need to stop over-thinking it. GD has never let me down before, so I don't see why they would now. More songs is totally fine by me.

One more thing! Nimrod has an obvious theme! It's kind of a relationship record, and balancing a new married life and struggling with growing older, but still being relatively young. To me, Nimrod is very cohesive, and I think it's their best pre-AI album.

it's just to much for one sitting :P

Hey kids, thanks again for the devotion you all put in to listening to this show every week, you have no idea how much it means to us! I was so glad to be a part of this show after the big news, especially since we got into such an in depth conversation and there were so many different ideas and opinions. I hope it was as interesting to hear as it was to be a part of the conversation!

And of course, thank you for the Birthday greetings everyone! I'm amazed we (I) didn't mention my birthday during the show. LOL I'm usually much more into myself than that... just goes to show how into the podcast I was. Haha
