MrsBillieJoe95 Posted April 9, 2012 Posted April 9, 2012 rummaging thru magazines in the store, I stumbled upon a new (to me at least haha) RS issue out! I didn't buy the magazine, so no scans. I did, however, take pictures from my phone of where they're at give me like 10 minutes and I'll have them on here
MrsBillieJoe95 Posted April 9, 2012 Author Posted April 9, 2012 "The Nineties' irrepressible punk brats grew up with a huge bang, proving they could take on the kind of gargantuan old-school concept album that nobody else seemed to have the guts to try anymore. Billie Joe Armstrong rages against the political complacency of Bush-era America with ferocity and a Who-sized sense of grandeur" not sure that it says in the corner, but it says something about American Idiots I believe "The album that jump-started the Nineties punk-pop revival. Singer-guitarist Billie Joe Armstrong boiled suburban boredom into airtight, three-minute shots like "Welcome to Paradise," "Basket Case" and the infectious smash "Longview" - which Armstrong described as 'cheap self-therapy from watching too much TV.' "
Heather. Posted April 9, 2012 Posted April 9, 2012 This must be RS's updated list... on their website, Dookie is at 193, but I don't see American Idiot at 225 and I don't think it's even on the list. Nice to see it in there now, and I'm thinking/hoping it'll rise up the rankings in time. http://www.rollingstone.com/music/lists/500-greatest-albums-of-all-time-19691231
MrsBillieJoe95 Posted April 9, 2012 Author Posted April 9, 2012 I'm assuming it is because I think it had some fairly recent artists in it that have only made it big within the last 4 or so years. Next time I go back to the store, I'll check to see when it was updated edit: now that I think about it, it's def. updated because it had in the statistics (for what eras had most in em) '10s
Hermione Posted April 9, 2012 Posted April 9, 2012 Cool! Thanks for the pics. Should be higher up the list though
classof12 Posted April 9, 2012 Posted April 9, 2012 thanks! Dookie and AI are also in the book "1001 albums you must listen before you die" and Good Riddance and JOS in the "1001 songs you must listen before you die"
frunsi Posted April 10, 2012 Posted April 10, 2012 nice to see that AI made it on the corrected list. the old list had way too much 60s and 70s music.
