alexwetherell Posted January 15, 2012 Posted January 15, 2012 Was having a look at the Green Day stuff on iTunes today and come across a pre-order for On The Radio Live.. Looks like a bunch of pre-dookie live recordings being released. It's available on the UK store, not sure about US and other countries, going on the previews, they do sound like quite old recordings. Didn't know if this is anything official or not as the label releasing it is 'Smokin' Release date is 29th January 2012. VisionsofGreenDay115 Posted January 15, 2012 Posted January 15, 2012 I went on iTunes (since im in the US) and it doesnt seem like there's any pre-order for what you have listed. Im kinda sad though.... it may be UK only.
Mato Posted January 15, 2012 Posted January 15, 2012 It seems like this is the same as Radio Daze and Transmissions bootleg
LudeBoy Posted January 15, 2012 Posted January 15, 2012 found this http://www.amazon.co.uk/Radio-Green-Day/dp/B006FG52RO
Burnout98 Posted January 16, 2012 Posted January 16, 2012 It seems like this is the same as Radio Daze and Transmissions bootleg I've got Transmissions and the song list differs slightly. Australian iTunes doesn't have it either.
Mato Posted January 16, 2012 Posted January 16, 2012 yeah, I have it too, they just left out couple of songs there, but it's the same radio show, same recording
Sanity Loan Posted January 16, 2012 Posted January 16, 2012 There are audio previews for it! That's awesome! Sound quality is pretty damn good too. http://itunes.apple.com/gb/preorder/on-the-radio-live/id493399664
Fuzz Posted January 16, 2012 Posted January 16, 2012 So is the audio on this different than Radio Daze?
bass boy Posted January 16, 2012 Posted January 16, 2012 Preordered this about a month ago, im stoked to get it in the mail
Sanity Loan Posted January 16, 2012 Posted January 16, 2012 Made a post on GDA with all the details: http://www.greendaya....com/news/2939/ So is the audio on this different than Radio Daze? Yes. Radio Dayz is acoustic As I posted on GDA: If you're not in the UK, don't worry, you can still hear the previews. Just change your iTunes Store to the United Kingdom and search 'Green Day On the Radio' and the album should show up.
Requila Posted January 16, 2012 Posted January 16, 2012 I remember this was already posted on GDA a couple of weeks ago: http://www.greendaya....com/news/2878/ *Update* - this recording has been around for a while, in different guises, most commonly as "Radio Daze" - check out the comments for more information from our informed visitors! So I doubt if these really are new recordings..
Sanity Loan Posted January 16, 2012 Posted January 16, 2012 Haha, no. That's not true, the Minnesota 91 acoustic is a bonus on the remastered 1039 SOSH cd. Radio Daze is the concert at WMFU Studios in Florida 92 Sorry. But WMFU is in New Jersey, according to Amazon. So there can't be a WMFU in Florida....
Sanity Loan Posted January 16, 2012 Posted January 16, 2012 Haha, you're right, don't know why I thought it was Florida. we all make mistakes You're right. So don't laugh at mine.
Fuzz Posted January 16, 2012 Posted January 16, 2012 Alright, so is this actually different? Someone said the songlist is different, but someone in the GDA comments said Words I Might Have Ate sounds like the Radio Daze version.
Liam Posted January 16, 2012 Posted January 16, 2012 Alright, so is this actually different? Someone said the songlist is different, but someone in the GDA comments said Words I Might Have Ate sounds like the Radio Daze version. Nope this is indeed the same Radio Daze bootleg. I think where that person got confused was one of the tracks on the album, they screw up at the start and just move onto a different song. On Radio Daze that song is attached to another track making that track list only 19 songs where this one has it split to make it 20 songs. If you wanna compare the setlist, here's the one from the download links http://www.greendaycommunity.org/images/video/1992RadioDazeGDA.jpg
Fuzz Posted January 16, 2012 Posted January 16, 2012 Alright, thanks. I've updated the post just to let people know it's a re-packaging. Curious if this label is releasing it with permission from the radio station or what the deal is. Can people sell bootlegs on iTunes?
PleasedToMeetMe Posted January 16, 2012 Posted January 16, 2012 Does the audio appear to be an exact copy of Radio Daze or has the quality been slightly upgraded?
Sanity Loan Posted January 16, 2012 Posted January 16, 2012 Does the audio appear to be an exact copy of Radio Daze or has the quality been slightly upgraded? I've never listened to Radio Daze so I don't know what it sounds like, but from the previews on iTunes, the quality is extremely good. They definitely got a hold of the master tapes from WMFU

They definitely got a hold of the master tapes from WMFU I dunno they sound pretty similar to me. I wouldn't be surprised if its not the master. Also the radio station would probably only give the master to Warner/Green Day if they asked for it, not some crappy little record company there seems to be nothing online about

Probably using the same audio source, which most likely isn't the masters, but still a very high fidelity recording.
