I believe this to be true because they spread cheer and good will to people and animals around the world. They also make and perform music rather well, and this is an understatement.

Over to you! ;)

Purely in terms of making the world a better place, I like the 'Green' stance they've (particularly Billie Joe) been taking over the past, more noticeably in the last decade or so.... :)

I believe this is true 'cause they gave us the chance to build GDC.

Where we can open spam threads like this last one. :P

Agree. I think the world is- in part- a better place because through their music, their messages, their examples of life, Green Day create better people, the Green Day fans.

Because Green Day fans are broadminded, friendly, unique, they are part of a family spread around the world that doesn't look at the colours, the languages, the religion.

Because Green Day fans can be homosexual, bisexual, pansexual, and nobody sees that as a "problem" or even an "illness".

Because Green Day fans have an incredible sense of humour, and how much humour this world needs...!

Because Green Day fans want to leave in "green days", where the environment is protected.

Because Green Day fans are able to stand up all thogeter, and all togheter do amazing things, just for the band that is part of their lives.

The world needs more people like this.

They made the world better because they have offered a lot to punk music; music in general, that the next generations are gonna read about. They'll be legends, I think they already are

They changed MY WORLD, which is hell important! I'd be nothing like I am if I had never heard BOBD that evening 5 years ago.

We're a green army :runaround:

haha, well it didn't start out that way.

All's well that ends well, as they say!

Of course it's true! Green Day give us lessons of tolerance, show us real friendship and love and connect people all over the world!

For me (and probably many other people) Green Day is motivation to learn English :D

Oh so true!! Green Day was the reason that got me started learning English! :D

Green Day made the world a better place 'cause they taught us to find our own personality and individuality!

In my opinion, the world is a better place because of Green Day. In any case. I'm sure I could write and write things in here that express why I feel this way, but this would be just a detailed and unneeded version of what Anna (Disapperingirl) has already written in here. I think it's the message behind the songs and behind everything the band does, that brings people to a point where they start to realize. Realizing leads to acting and acting is what the world really needs. If it crops up in help for the environment or just in a character that wants to help, wants to change and is open for everything. I don't want to say Green Day fans or Green Day are the best people in the world or are perfect or whatever. I just want to say that this feels like an opening to something bigger.. or not. For me, Green Day made the world a better place. Just because they affected so many things. So many things, that made the world better, that made the world change or at least a little part of it.

This is so true Luisa. And I'd love to read more from you, because you'll add so many right things that I didn't write ;)

Of course the world is a better place because of them.

The way I see it, you can only make real impact on the world by doing what you love to do. Doing what you're passionate about. And it is obvious that they are damn passionate about what they do. I believe that if you only write a song and it makes someone else feel better, you're making the world a better place. They're making people's lives better everyday, because music can be a real comfort and can inspire everyone to try & do good in every aspect. And that's just music, what people usually can't understand is that I love this band so much because of who they are as people, again, how passionate they are about everything they do. In my opinion, when you can make impact on people you're making an impact on the world. Making people feel better = making the world a better place.

Threads like this one always make me realize how much I love Green Day and Green Day fans. I mean, I know that, but reading things like that just moves me a little to tears, makes me smile. I could give everybody who wrote something in here a rep. Probably I should.

The world is a better place because of Green Day, 'cause when you're in a bad mood because of something that happened to your, they always have a song that makes you feel understood, that you can relate to.

True. They have fans. And that means they make someone happy.

They Are so meaning full for so many people, and everybody who means something for someone and makes Them happy makes the world a better place.

They've made my world a better place.

And because they make so many people's world a better place, the world is indeed a better place because of them.

do I make any sense?

Of course you do. ;)

I need to add that Green Day has taught generations of fans to be themselves, you know. Most of the lines that Billie, Mike and Tre have written are about standing out from the crowd, not being an hypocrite, not listening to any sort of authority and not let anybody tell you what to do! And this is an important "lesson" nowadays, considering that people are like clones of each other and the media is trying to manipulate everybody.

For me, first, they permitted to people to get together, to create a community, to share the same thoughts of tolerance. They permitted to two generations on teenagers to go through their adolescence, their music helped people in their personal lives, made them feel better. At a big scale, those people that feel better because of them make the people they know feel better. They opened our eyes on the liberty we should ask for ; they permitted to outcasts to finally belong somewhere.

For me, they leaded me where I am now. They gave me my opinion of what I think is right, and what I think I should fight for. They permitted me to meet my friends, they made a big part of my moral education.

Particularly, their music and their attitudes and the people they are, for my tolerance to sexuality : the simple fact they booked Pansy Division for the Dookie tour. I found it amazing. That they are so opened to sexuality, it showed me that all people are equal and that we're all the same, whatever kind of people we love, and that it's stupid and ignorant to say the contrary. They reformed in me the thought I had been taught that homosexuality was bad and disgusting, and I couldn't thank them enough for that. It's partly why the world is a better place thanks to them. They modify each of their fans, they get them to be better people.

And they helped good music to outlive!

Green Day has definitely made the world a better place to live because of the way they influence us. There can be thousands of other bands/artists that can impact our lives but not like the way that Green Day does. Green Day has made me happy and has taught me to never put myself down.

I agree. Before I started listening to Green Day, I was so self conscious and could never be myself. Now, if someone doesn't like who I am, then fuck them. I couldn't care less because I know I shouldn't change for anyone. And they also made me open up my eyes. I was so naive before but now I see, the world isn't such a perfect place, there's politics, war, bullying, and so many more problems that I've started learning about and I'm changing my sight on the world. Green Day has helped and I haven't been a fan for long, but they inspire me and I can't imagine where, or who, I'd be without them.

I think one way they helped make the world a better place is that they inspired people to think and not just blindly accept what is being presented to them.

Green Day make the world a better place as they remind the masses to be individual, to be themselves, and not just listen to, act, or dress like the photo-shopped marketing-lead kids on tv.

the music is fantastic - all three members are serious musicians and yet they never take themselves seriously.

This thread has already turned out to be the best on GDC

Green Day has made the world a better place because, through their music, they have helped people like me discover who they truly are. I feel that Green Day makes people more accepting of who others are, despite differences. Without them, I would never have discovered the GDC and all of the wonderful people on here.

Yes yes yes! Exactly. This is one of my favourite lines in any song ever.
