Tre_Gina Posted November 10, 2011 Posted November 10, 2011 13/2/12 UPDATE I have had an email to say the stone will be laid weather permitting at the end of February.Once the stone is installed I will be able to open a map telling us exactly where it is. 24/11/11/ UPDATE The stone is ordered and below is part of the certificate I received. Thanks to everyone who has sent money and to Andres and GDA for contributing the remaining money. Hopefully the stone will be laid at the end of the year/ start of next year - I will keep you posted with any info I get. If you would like to be involved and contribute some money then please do via Paypal. My email address is gnatherton@yahoo.co.uk, please send £4 and on receipt of your money I will send you a copy of the certificate. Any extra money I will donate to GDA. Original Post - Well I had an email from Wembley Stadium today and something caught my eye. They are giving people the chance to get a stone engraved commemorating an event that happened at Wembley Stadium (or anything you want really) and it will be displayed in the ground around the stadium forever! I can't decide whether this is an awesome idea or not but I wondered if any GDCers who were at the Wembley gig (Green Day's biggest to date) would put money towards getting a stone there saying something along the lines of "Green Day 19/6/10 Thank you from GDC" or maybe something more creative but space is limited. Here is the page all about it - http://www.wembleyst...WembleyWay.aspx Let me know your thoughts.
pasalaska Posted November 10, 2011 Posted November 10, 2011 Ooh, that'd be kinda cool. I mean, it'd only take 20 people to chip in 5 pound to make the big stone. Neat!
Tre_Gina Posted November 10, 2011 Author Posted November 10, 2011 I'm glad the response is positive and Aska you're right, we could get a big stone if a lot of people put in a small amount each.
04rebhop Posted November 10, 2011 Posted November 10, 2011 I like this idea. It would be fun to go and see the stone when i see Frank Turner at Wembley in April!
Daughter.of.Rage.and.Love Posted November 10, 2011 Posted November 10, 2011 That is such a cool idea! I wasn't at the show, but the idea is cool.
Guest Charlotte. Posted November 10, 2011 Posted November 10, 2011 This would be pretty awesome! Great idea
Ingrid Posted November 10, 2011 Posted November 10, 2011 I would definitely donate to that! Love the idea
Undómiel Posted November 10, 2011 Posted November 10, 2011 That's a cool idea. Also, do we know how many GDCers (about) went to Wembley?
Katarina. Posted November 10, 2011 Posted November 10, 2011 That's a pretty cool idea! I wasn't at the show, but it'd be nice if for example a group of GDCers got a large stone and let it engrave with something, maybe a song lyric, about the GD show.
mitzymoo Posted November 10, 2011 Posted November 10, 2011 Love this idea, I will give some money for it
greendaytone Posted November 10, 2011 Posted November 10, 2011 Also, do we know how many GDCers (about) went to Wembley? I'd say somewhere around 20-40 (some who may not be around so much now) but there was a pretty big contingent!
Undómiel Posted November 10, 2011 Posted November 10, 2011 I'd say somewhere around 20-40 (some who may not be around so much now) but there was a pretty big contingent! Gutted I was such a newbie then that I didn't meet anybody...
greendaytone Posted November 10, 2011 Posted November 10, 2011 Gutted I was such a newbie then that I didn't meet anybody... Next time
Undómiel Posted November 10, 2011 Posted November 10, 2011 Next time Yup. Yup. Yup. This is seriously one of the reasons that I can't wait for GD to tour again. I wanna meet people!!!
greendaytone Posted November 10, 2011 Posted November 10, 2011 This is seriously one of the reasons that I can't wait for GD to tour again. I wanna meet people!!! Yeah it makes the whole experience even more special!
greenbear Posted November 10, 2011 Posted November 10, 2011 I was there so count me in. I like the idea of including a song lyric if there's room - maybe just one line even.
lizziebix Posted November 10, 2011 Posted November 10, 2011 I wasn't there but I love this idea. Someone needs to take the lead and make it happen. (Then post a picture of the stone once it's placed!!)
