I thought i'd post these here as well as GDA. Feel free to reminisce about what Green Day were up to on this week (or day) in previous years!

On this week...

Last Year:

It was an exciting time for South American fans as Green Day were touring there for the first time in 12 years. They had shows during this week in Brazil (Brasilia and Sao Paulo) and then Argentina and Chile.

Billie Joe tweeted this after the show in Buenos Aires, Argentina on October 22nd...

Tonight was the best show in the history of green day! Argentina is the best gig we ever had! Absolutely the best. Highlight?- all songs bj.

Green Day fans in Brazil recently made a picture video to commemorate the 1st anniversary of Green Day's return to their country. It's well worth a watch, with lots of great pictures from the shows as well as of the fans that were there.

2 Years Ago:

"Rocktober" was in full swing as Green Day played to packed out arenas in Holland, Belgium, and then the UK and Ireland. This week saw the biggest organised Green Day Community meet up till that point, at the O2 Arena in London, England. Around 40 or so fans flocked from all parts of the world to meet up and travel to the shows together in the UK, creating some very memorable times, of which i was lucky enough to be a part of.

In 2000:

Green Day played an awesome show at Goat Island in Sydney, Australia during their Warning tour. It's a really fun performace to watch, as the stage backs on to the sea and sets the scene for some entertaining 'banter' with the passing boats!

In 1987:

According to various sources, Sweet Children (a couple of years before they became Green Day) played their first ever live show at Rod's Hickory Pit in Vallejo, California, where Billie Joe's mother was working at the time.

...Stay tuned for another Green Day time warp next week!

Yeah! About this time 2 years ago I was power walking into the O2 about to see Green Day for the first time. It was so great and so surreal meeting ALL those GDCers in one day! And then the show was amazing, watching the whole thing from a nice viewpoint far along the barrier on Mike's side with my sister and the lovely J'net. And of course singing along to American Idiot with Tony from BIAB himself :D. It's great having Xabulous's DVD of the show so I'll never have to forget any of it, think I might give it a watch later.

Totally the worst Before The Lobotomy story ever at that show  :

It was the anniversary of Green Day turning 21, the legal drinking age! But.....it wasn't actually on that date it was two days before......and the drinking age isn't even 21 in the UK. Hahaha
