Billie comments on R.E.M. after break-up

Anyways, R.E.M. announced they were breaking up on September 21st, a couple of weeks ago. They talked to Rob Cavallo, naturally, about it and a couple days later Rob was on the phone with Billie, talking about R.E.M. "Billie said R.E.M. were the first underground band he saw that conquered the mainstream. He was 13 years old, and it changed his perception of what rock could be."

If anyone has a link or anything for this, please post it. I'm too lazy to find one.

Well in an interview in 95 with Billie (MTV Raw) he said the first alternative-rock show he saw, was REM at a high-school gymnasium
