ggoicocheap Posted September 6, 2011 Posted September 6, 2011 Hey guys and gals, I need your help for a new post that I'm planning for my blog. The post will be titled "Top 10 Green Day songs that you didn't hear in the radio" and basically will be a list of the best green day songs that weren't released as singles and did not receive radio airtime. Please no live only and cover songs. What songs would you include in this list? Would love to hear back from you. Thanks, Mo
brianbags Posted September 6, 2011 Posted September 6, 2011 Yesterday I would have said J.A.R., but I heard it today. Kind of weird to hear that being played I think. But above all, Novacaine.
ChelseaWhatsername Posted September 6, 2011 Posted September 6, 2011 Difficult to choose... but I'd have to say, in no specific order: HomecomingWhatsernameSassafras RootsScatteredHold OnRestless Heart SyndromeBasically every song on Nimrod that doesn't get radio playMiseryAre We The WaitingJesus Of Suburbia I've heard people say JOS had been played before, but I never have. And really, it's a 9 minute song. Radio stations don't do 9 minute songs.

But above all, Novacaine. Although not released as a single, JAR was pretty popular in radio stations in the 90's (right after Dookie). Also, currently is still being played every once in a while in alternative radio stations. So that one can't be in the list. Novocaine is a good one though! ChelseaWhatsername Posted September 6, 2011 Posted September 6, 2011 That's a great list. Thanks! However, I have heard Jesus of Suburbia in the radio. They play a shortened version of it. No prob. I know I have a great taste in music. 8) lol. Ah, that makes sense to shorten it. I guess the stations out here in AZ just suck. I've never heard them play JOS and I've been listening for quite a few years. I have heard them play Misery though... once. I was going to put it on the list but I just remembered that.
melissawebster Posted September 6, 2011 Posted September 6, 2011 I'm with Chelsea on the everything from Nimrod that isn't "Good Riddance." Also, "Blood, Sex & Booze."

How was it being played in 94-95 without even a single?
ggoicocheap Posted September 6, 2011 Author Posted September 6, 2011 Huh? I thought it was released for the first time on International Superhits. How was it being played in 94-95 without even a single? JAR was released the first time in 1995 for the Angus soundtrack. It reached #1 in the Modern Rock list. It was later included in International Superhits.

And not a promo either, an actual single. Prosthetic Head, definitely.

Hermione Posted September 6, 2011 Posted September 6, 2011 Blood, Sex and Booze Homecoming Pulling Teeth Burnout Scattered King For A Day Restless Heart Syndrome Armatage Shanks Road To Acceptance That would be my list, there's just so many though haha, I agree that anything from Nimrod would be good. And lovely to come in here and see Blood Sex And Booze and Homecoming already mentioned! Would love to see those on the list.
green day is Posted September 6, 2011 Posted September 6, 2011 [Edit:] Nevermind. When are we gonna get a "delete post" button?

ggoicocheap Posted September 6, 2011 Author Posted September 6, 2011 1. Horseshoes and Handgrenades 2. Static Age 3. Whatsername 4. Worry Rock 5. Chump 6. All The Time 7. Desensitized 8. Church on Sunday 9. Letterbomb 10. Scattered Awesome list. I had completely forgotten about Chump. So, I see that many people are listing Blood, Sex and Booze (out of Warning). It was also my understanding that this song was never released as a single. However, some googling led me to a website that says that it was released as a promo single in Germany. This is the website: http://www.greendaydiscography.com/bloodsexandbooze.html Can anyone confirm that this single is real? From the snapshots, it looks like it is. too bad because this song would rank high in the list if it wasn't a single.
Hermione Posted September 6, 2011 Posted September 6, 2011 Ehh, I don't think Blood Sex And Booze was ever a single. When Warning first came out they played it live on TV a few times so maybe they were planning for it to be a future single and that's why that promo CD got made. It was only for Germany though, and it was never released as an actual single there or anywhere else. I say don't disqualify it
BuckBuckBuckles Posted September 6, 2011 Posted September 6, 2011 1) Whatsername 2) Burnout 3) Stuart and the Ave. 4) Uptight 5) Castaway (blows my mind how it wasn't a single. Such a great song) 6) The Static Age 7) Murder City 8) St. Jimmy 9) King for a Day 10) Last Night on Earth

Also, this post was mainly directed to the American market so if it was only released in Germany then the song should still be considered for the list. If we're strictly going by non singles 1- Letterbomb 2- Welcome To Paradise 3- Who Wrote Holden Caulfield 4- East Jesus Nowhere 5- St Jimmy 6- Christie Road 7- Murder City 8- Bab's Uvula Who? 9- Homecoming 10- Pulling Teeth Great list! However, welcome to paradise was a single and it's played all the time in the radio. What's your replacement for that one?
Kayfabe Posted September 6, 2011 Posted September 6, 2011 unh. Blood Sex and Booze, if it's a contendor. If it's not then At The Library
