Calvin92 Posted August 16, 2011 Posted August 16, 2011 Hello, I'm in film school right now, and I'm in the mood to express my Green Day fanisim by making a music video for Two Songs off of the GD's "first" album. I know every Green Day song inside and out, I even studied the american/bush days just to further understand A.I. Whatever two songs are picked from, 1,039 Smoothed Out Slappy Hours (except Knowledge, awesome song and a staple in GD's live performance's, but not a Green Day original, sorry) I'm going to edit the ends of the tracks together to give the video almost a Brain Stew/Jaded feel (two songs, one music video basically. Although each songs visual style is different). So the two most popular songs mentioned in this topic from you, the fans, will be the two songs I'll choose. Also, if you have any ideas as to, scenes, character's or certain visual styles. Feel free to speak up. If I use your idea, I'll give you a credit in the video. I plan shooting in about a months time, so think deeply about this. Thanks, Calvin92
Katarina. Posted August 16, 2011 Posted August 16, 2011 Sounds great. Will you post the video here when it's finished? I'd like to see how it turns out! Song ideas: Going to Pasalacqua and Paper Lanterns.
green day is Posted August 16, 2011 Posted August 16, 2011 At the Library and The Judges Daughter. Or Rest and something.
coco07800 Posted August 16, 2011 Posted August 16, 2011 I would say, Paper Lanterns and At The Library
basKT_case90 Posted August 18, 2011 Posted August 18, 2011 Paper lanterns and Disappearing boy! In terms of style, you should keep the punk aesthetic evident in early Green Day videos (Longview etc). You should go for the 90s look. I don't think it should be too contemporary looking. It should lack the polish that many music videos today over-do. I suggest desaturating the colours a little bit in post. Try to keep with the colour scheme of the album cover (dull washed out) These are just my thoughts. I too am a film maker, however I have never gotten the time or motivation to attempt a green day music video. This is how I might have done it
Calvin92 Posted August 18, 2011 Author Posted August 18, 2011 Thanks for the advice! The old punk look will be done in FCP and After Effect. I will be shooting on some Canon DSLR's. It's hard to find a reference for a good visual reference for pre-dookie videos. Longview has really great colors to it in the chorus, that I might try to re-create. I want to have two completely different styles of "old" for each song, yet try to make one narrative story for both songs. Paper lanterns and Disappearing boy! Fuzz Posted August 29, 2011 Posted August 29, 2011 I've moved this to the Green Day forum out of Help & Advice. I think it's beter served here where more people can see it.
Brigister Posted August 31, 2011 Posted August 31, 2011 Mmmmh, that's a great idea, seriously! I think I'll pick Paper Lanterns and Going To Pasalaqua or The Judge's Daughter. It's a tough choice.
Prisca Posted August 31, 2011 Posted August 31, 2011 Pasalaqua and The Judges Daughter.... or Only of You. Would love to see the finished product
DoodleBob Posted August 31, 2011 Posted August 31, 2011 So, I could have sworn I posted my idea in this topic, but it's not showing up, so I guess I didn't. I was thinking of Dissapearing Boy and then Road to Acceptance. It kind of has the theme of not being accepted or feeling important. My idea was to start off a boy just wandering the streets and different places, maybe people looking for him, but never finding him. And then after that, you go into Road to Acceptance and the boy is have a flashback of him being bullied. ^^Just ideas, xD they aren't the greatest
Nobody Likes Cam Posted August 31, 2011 Posted August 31, 2011 I think possibly The Judge's Daughter and Paper Lanterns? Like a girl dumps you when you're obsessed with another girl and then you want her back when she finds another boyfriend...idk. Not the greatest idea in the book.
Kristen M Posted September 3, 2011 Posted September 3, 2011 So, I could have sworn I posted my idea in this topic, but it's not showing up, so I guess I didn't. yeah I think there's 2 threads for this so you probably posted in the other one
DoodleBob Posted September 4, 2011 Posted September 4, 2011 yeah I think there's 2 threads for this so you probably posted in the other one Haha, ok good. I thought I was going crazy for a second, 'cause I knew I replied to this thread before
