brianbags Posted August 13, 2011 Posted August 13, 2011 I've always wondered this, and I don't remember it ever being asked in an interview which is kind of weird. Seems like a common question. So anyone know what are Billie, Mike and Tré's favorite songs to play? Also, I tried searching for this
Annie, get your gun Posted August 13, 2011 Posted August 13, 2011 I think it would be good to say that all their songs well, actually I'm not sure of a specific song. But they love to play their oldies...
brianbags Posted August 13, 2011 Author Posted August 13, 2011 I think it would be good to say that all their songs well, actually I'm not sure of a specific song. But they love to play their little oldies... haha but they have to have favorites. I've learned all of Tré's drums and mine are Welcome to Paradise, Homecoming and a few others. Other stuff like Viva la Gloria that they play live all the time I don't care for anymore. I would think for Billie too some songs are funner to sing than others.
Catsername Posted August 13, 2011 Posted August 13, 2011 I remember Billie saying from somewhere that Letterbomb was fun to play. I can't remember if it was from a video or a book/magazine though...
Satan Posted August 13, 2011 Posted August 13, 2011 i remember them saying american eulogy is one of their favorites to play live
Rage & Love. Posted August 13, 2011 Posted August 13, 2011 Billie got asked this just after American Idiot got released and he was like 'oh which song is it' for a while then goes, 'oh yea it's Who Wrote Holden Caulfield'
Marlee Posted August 14, 2011 Posted August 14, 2011 At the Phoenix show 8/31/10 Billie said he enjoyed playing American Eulogy, and then they played it
Heather. Posted August 14, 2011 Posted August 14, 2011 During 21CB promos they said several times that they love East Jesus Nowhere live, and Mike has said that his favorite at the time was American Eulogy (he gets to sing ) Billie has said he loves St. Jimmy, and on BIAB you can pretty much tell he loves performing everything, but he did talk specifically about the emotions of Jesus of Suburbia. He's also said it never gets old playing Basket Case and all those, so good for them! I'm glad they're not jaded from it all (heh, jaded).
XxRedundantCastaway86xX Posted August 14, 2011 Posted August 14, 2011 I agree with everyone so far. Also, you can't forget Tre and his passion for playing Dominated Love Slave
JDookie Posted August 14, 2011 Posted August 14, 2011 In this recent interview Mike said those beautiful things about playing live Holiday and Jesus of Suburbia (good choice )!
DecanoLP Posted August 14, 2011 Posted August 14, 2011 I think, they enjoy playing their old stuff much more than their new material. You just need to take a look at the recent setlists and all the things Billie has been saying over the last tour ("What song do you wanna hear? It's gotta be old stuff though.").
ScatteredPictures Posted August 14, 2011 Posted August 14, 2011 I remember Billie saying from somewhere that Letterbomb was fun to play. I can't remember if it was from a video or a book/magazine though... Right at the beginning It was obviously his favourite song from American idiot back then. Maybe it still is
solongfromthestars Posted August 14, 2011 Posted August 14, 2011 In Costa Rica before playing Paper Lanterns, Billie said that was one of his favourite songs to play. I think it changes all the time though!
deadair Posted August 14, 2011 Posted August 14, 2011 I thought I read somewhere shortly before 21st Century Breakdown came out (while they were doing California club shows performing 21st Century Breakdown in it's entirety + older songs) that Billie enjoyed performing St. Jimmy live. And right before the Summer 2009 indoor arena/stadium tour started I thought I read a quote from Billie saying they would perform She every night, so that's also probably one of his favorites to perform live. Also in this video, Billie says that Who Wrote Holden Caulfield? is his favorite song off Kerplunk, so I would assume it's another one of his favorites to perform live-
Hermione Posted August 14, 2011 Posted August 14, 2011 Billie often mentions Who Wrote Holden Caulfield? and Letterbomb when he's asked his favourites (maybe he likes to save them up because they don't play them that often ). And I think he LOVES playing St Jimmy and JOS, you just have to look at his face when they're playing those songs to see that . Especially St Jimmy, seems like he really enjoys getting into the character. Even when they did it at a Foxboro show he went straight into that St Jimmy mode. I agree with everyone so far. Also, you can't forget Tre and his passion for playing Dominated Love Slave Haha of course! I think they all really enjoy doing that one. And they've gotta all love King For A Day/Shout, seems like they have more and more fun with it on each tour.
Zallomallo Posted August 14, 2011 Posted August 14, 2011 I agree with everyone so far. Also, you can't forget Tre and his passion for playing Dominated Love Slave This!
