Bam-Itz-GreenDay Posted August 4, 2011 Posted August 4, 2011 For me, Green Day has made a huge impact on my life. They have taught me sooo much. They have taught me to... fight for what i believe in, Never give up, follow your dreams, because they do come true, they even taught me to love <3 How has Green Day changed your life?
StarKiller Posted August 4, 2011 Posted August 4, 2011 Because of listening to Green Day.. - I don't give a f*ck about what people think of my personality/clothing style/whatever. I am what I want to be, not what others want me to be. - I always have someone/something to identify with. I feel understood and I learnt how to deal with certain situations. - I feel inspired. Dreams can be fulfilled, I'm sure Billie Joe did fullfill his own dream. Tha'ts all I could think of for now.. =)
KilljoyFromDetroit Posted August 4, 2011 Posted August 4, 2011 Green day taught me to be my self and has taught me to not care what others think Be my own person and not let people control me Anything can happen with a lot of hard workGreen day taught me to be my self and has taught me to not care what others think Be my own person and not let people control me Anything can happen with a lot of hard work
blitzkriegdeb Posted August 5, 2011 Posted August 5, 2011 They gave me higher expectations of a what a band should be like, if that's anything.
classof12 Posted September 5, 2011 Posted September 5, 2011 The show me to be myself, not to be afraid of what I am, no matter what the other people think...they also has show me a lot of vocabulary
Fuzzy Posted September 8, 2011 Posted September 8, 2011 They singlehandedly got me into music! Which has then become pretty much my biggest interest for the rest of my life. Thanks Green Day! lol
BJA TC MD Posted September 8, 2011 Posted September 8, 2011 Green Day has taught me to do whatever I want without having to worry about hat other people think. Also, when I think of them it gives me so much confidence that has helped whenever I'm doing something. At the moment I have A LOT of friend issues, and for example when the person annoys me or screams in my ear, I can just think of Green Day and everything feels alright. I have never got this feeling from anything else before. In short, Green Day has made me feel like a much better person and help me so much in my everyday life.
*punxx Posted September 9, 2011 Posted September 9, 2011 With their song "last of the american girls" they´ve saved me from anorexia. I still don´t know why it was this song, but it always gave me the will to fight. they gave me so much, a new, special feeling of living, kinda carpe diem- thing. they showed me that not everyone in the world is an asshole or a hypocrite and there´s always something that´s worth fighting for. as billie said: ".Enjoy every second. live every second. Cry every second. Laugh every second.Destroy every second. Give every second."
veroPasalacqua Posted September 9, 2011 Posted September 9, 2011 Green Day changed my life so hardly. I think I would never know what good music is, never would find such good friends like the Green Day fans, I have and so much more. They brought me there, where I am now. Another and stronger personality, another fews on everything. They changed my whole music taste. I would never come to Rock music or even metal! Yes, right. I am addicted to this band, to the boys, to their music, to their shows, to everything they do. I will be addicted forever.
DeAmbassador Posted September 11, 2011 Posted September 11, 2011 A lot. To never give up,to fight for everything you know, and to swear.(?LULZ)
WestboundSign! Posted September 11, 2011 Posted September 11, 2011 Green Day has changed my life in so many ways, that it maybe would be too much to mention everything. They taught me that I don't have to be afraid of being myself, of being different. They taught me to never give up, to fight for my dreams, 'cause they may come true one day. They taught me not to care too much about what others think of you. They influenced the kind of clothes I wear. Without them I maybe wouldn't play guitar now. Without them I wouldn't know so many other amazing bands out there now. They and their songs help me through the good and the bad times and I can always rely on them "being" there for me. Those things might be the most important..
fiercecircus Posted September 11, 2011 Posted September 11, 2011 They taught me it was ok to be a little different, a little weird. They taught me if you work hard enough at something, you can make it. They taught me that lots of "normal" people have anxiety or depression, even famous people who write songs, and that's okay. They taught me that it's ok to be gay, or bisexual, or whatever (when they took Pansy Division on tour with them in '94. I was questioning my own sexuality and i was like, "holy shit, if THESE guys think gay people are cool, then i guess it's okay...) They introduced me to a TON Of other bands i like, whole new genres of music... Also, Most recently, they taught me to pull your friggin pants up when you fly on a plane! 8P
gloria123 Posted September 12, 2011 Posted September 12, 2011 they taught me to just be myself, and to like it! that real people have problems (even famous people) and it's ok not to be perfect they taught me that if you put your mind to something you can achieve it they taught me a bunch of new words.... they taught me to live life to the fullest and to do whatever the fuck you want to also not take crap from anyone, and stand up for yourself and what you believe in
fiercecircus Posted September 12, 2011 Posted September 12, 2011 Oh, and they were the first people that i saw with tattoos that weren't ugly sailor tattoos. or like, nasty old man spent too much time in the sun blobs, like my dad's creepy friends... Billie's were colorful. He had clowns around his arm. And the baby from Roger Rabbit... I thought that was kind of cool. I was never the kind of kid that constantly drew on themselves... this was the first thing that piqued my interest in tattoos... (sorry mom. Blame Billie and Mike...) (i have seven. two of them are multiple sittings/do-overs, so i've been under the needle a lot... One is a Kerplunk flower.)
Elena Posted September 12, 2011 Posted September 12, 2011 Green Day have changed my life a lot....first of all that i don't just listen to mainstream music, but to punk rock, before i became such a big green day fan i just listened to pop music and didn't like punk rock, but when i started listening to green day i also started loving punk rock and started understanding what it is about and that not drug taking kids just listen to that music and what they changed in my life then: - i learned not to care what other people say and just do what i believe in or what i wanna do (my style is at least unique and they don't know anything bout me) - they taught me to never give up - they taught me to always follow my dreams (and don't care what others think about it or tell me and never give up on that dream) - i found out about a ton of other bands (punk bands) that i maybe wouldn't know otherwise and where i'm fucking glad that i know them now !! - they showed me what punk rock is about and that it's so fucking great being a punk - they taught me what (real) music is yeah they completely changed my life...
Autumn83 Posted September 12, 2011 Posted September 12, 2011 For me, It's like . . . Before I wanted to fit in and be a part of stuff. But now, It's like I want to be away from almost everything, I like being the minority, I hate a lot girly stuff. And I look at stuff a whole lot differently and I don't criticize people and stuff as harshly. Man, I love Green Day!
craziestcatlady Posted September 13, 2011 Posted September 13, 2011 One day, a friend who was more than a friend, who would one day become my fiance, showed me something that would alter my life far more than I thought possible, and all for the good. I remember being bemused at his vehemence that I would like this band that I'd never heard of. He pulled a slip of a case from a long shelf, dusted it off, and opened it. I caught a glimpse of red, but nothing more. He put a disc into the DVD player, and hit play without letting me see the telly. My small town, country-music-raised brain was assaulted with none other than .... Bullet in a Bible. I fell in love with Green Day, and through them, I was free. I didn't care what other people thought about me anymore, and I realized that I liked my weirdness. It was okay to be weird, to be different. I liked it. I reveled in it. I like to sew. I like to do puzzles, and read and write, and even do papercrafts. And yet, I'm a girl gamer to the core (waiting for Notch to update Minecraft 1.8 right now), and I have a dark side that can (and has, when I've written out some of my more creative horrors) give people nightmares. I'm funny, but not on purpose. I hate fighting, yelling. I love horror movies and zombies and action movies with Sly Stallone. I like to dance, but I'm no good at it. I sometimes talk to stars because a king once told me that the great kings of the past look down on us from those stars, and I believe that there must be something up on those stars and maybe it's my dad. Like so many before me, Jesus of Suburbia was a fast favorite, and one of the reasons I poured more intention into the band. But, without a doubt, even if today it isn't my favorite song (it changes every day, every mood!), Wake Me Up When September Ends is the song that has most influenced me. True balm to my soul. At first, it was a way to mourn, and wash away what I had been: beaten. Now? It heals me. Every time I hear it, especially the BiaB version, and I turn it up loud enough to drown, and feel my heartbeat skip when Tre's drum comes in. Here comes the rain again, falling from the stars, drenched in my pain again, becoming who we are. Life is gonna know you down, hurt you, break you - but that doesn't matter. It's how you get back up that matters.
QueenOfSuburbia Posted September 15, 2011 Posted September 15, 2011 They taught me not to care about what people say (in the right moment of my life) They got me into rock music They help me learning english (By listening to music, Watching interviews on youtube, reading about them) haha! They hepled me going through highschool, which wasn't great years to me.
ScatteredPictures Posted September 16, 2011 Posted September 16, 2011 Green Day has changed my life in a really weird and twisted way. Made me question everything (especially myself). And they made me feel like I was alive again. I'm a pretty jaded person and then they came and I put so much love, interest and passion into them. It is amazing
PleasedToMeetMe Posted September 20, 2011 Posted September 20, 2011 I've been a Green Day fan for over 15 years. I first heard Dookie when I was 5 (right around the time it came out) and it changed my life forever. Made me start playing guitar and making music. Every Green Day album is special in its own way for me. Each one takes me back to a time and place. That's why I love them so much, they've been the soundtrack to my life
SophiaAndTheAve. Posted September 20, 2011 Posted September 20, 2011 Green Day changed my life in many ways, but what i really see as a change in my personality is that they taught me to say that i don't give a damn about what people think about me or my opinion. everyone should be accepted the way he or she is, and they also taught me not to justify myself all the time about the things i say or the music i like, because i am what i am they brought me some very good friends, and i can truly say one of them is now one of the most important persons for me With their music, i can always get up again when i'm down. They are my heroes and i can't imagine what my life would look like without Green Day
Kayfabe Posted September 20, 2011 Posted September 20, 2011 They haven't. They have shaped it. ******************* sanitation, expiration date! question everything
Viva_La_Revolution! Posted September 25, 2011 Posted September 25, 2011 They brought me to music, and music=life, and they mean soo much to me, so how could i ever repay them? leetse ehat else, they helped me realise i'm not alone, they showed me understanding, they showed me i shouldnt be afraid to show how i feel, they showed me i could me open with my political views. They inspired me, and taught me to fight for my dreams, because dreams do come true.
secondGuessMe Posted September 26, 2011 Posted September 26, 2011 I guess you could say Green Day has made me more social.... I never really hung out with people, but because of Green Day, I get to hang out with people with the same interest and stuff.
