Ahh I love it on there! Nice and tricky. The intrumental bit is really hard on bass, I like the challenge of it.

Exactly! It's really funny on all the instruments. It's awesome

Am I the only one that does a little jig during the drum bit before 'Welcome to Paradise'?

I think Welcome To Paradise is an amazing Green Day song, maybe the best off of Kerplunk!, and it has an awesome music video. Welcome To Paradise is a song that always reminded me of summer, I dunno why and it seems like a song that is kind of like JOS, running away from your home/life. This is an amazing song and it's epic live.

It's not one of my pretty favorites, but what I really love is the lyrics, is so honest. I rather their 2nd version.

This song was the third song by Green Day that I bought. My cousin told me that he loved Green Day, so I decided to buy 6 random songs, and WTP happened to be one of them. It was my favorite out of the songs I bought. I love it so much. When I heard the Kerplunk version of it I was so amazed. I love that version so much more :)

I think this song is partly about me. Long years ago I've left my small town to start my own life in the capital. "for some strange reason it's now feeling like my home and I'm never gonna go"

i felt the same things described in this song.

During their 2005 tour they didn't play this song and I was really disappointed thinking I'd never be able to see them again. Thankfully that wasn't the case so when I heard it at the Forum in '09 I was so fucking happy! It's been one of my favorites songs since I was a kid. It's such an amazing song live and it's awesome seein' the boys rock on stage.

Personally, I love the Dookie version better. Mainly because it sounds cleaner, and the harmonies are so much better.

I am obsessed with Tre's drumming in this. Whenever they play it live, my eyes were always on him...such wonderful speed.

I love this song! This was the song that got me hooked on Green Day. My dad had Dookie and he said that "Welcome to Paradise" was one of his favorite songs, so i listened to it and fell in love with them right away!

Just listened to Kerplunk again for the first time in ages.

Before that I would've said, hands down, the Dookie version was my favourite. Now I just don't know...

Anyway, amazing song. Don't think I could say enough that would do it justice.

the progression from 'this place is SCAREY' to 'this place is ALRITE!!'.

Sorry for the very late reply, been bogged down with the move and all. One word captures this song for me: TRANSFORMATION. That's the progression you described....and the instrumental bridge hits this concept to perfection. Gentle tempo and a soft rhythm at first, turning up the pace and the intensity with each repetition until it ends in one of Tre's hallmark machine-gun drumrolls and Billie blasting out "dear mother, can you hear me laughing." Kinda like being shot out of a cannon. You can mark both the passage of time and the change in the protagonist with it.

WTP has been my mantra for the past several years, and is one of my all-time favorite Green Day songs.

Am I the only one who likes Kerplunk bridge more than Dookie's?
