Alan86 Posted June 16, 2011 Posted June 16, 2011 I've edited my 21st Century breakdown using audacity. I put the piano intro from the demo together with the studio version. I also cut the acoustic guitar intro from it. It sounds awesome. I had to amplify the piano intro quite a bit to make it sound right.

Hermione Posted June 17, 2011 Posted June 17, 2011 There's loads of demo versions that I love but the only one that comes close to actually being BETTER than the final studio version is 21st CB. Not sure which I prefer of the two though. Love the piano intro, "I'm taking a loan on my sanity for the redemption of my soul", and "I can't even sleep from rainstorms til dawn" on the demo. But love the improved cool guitar solo-y bit near the end and "I swallowed my pride and I choked on my faith, I've given my heart and my soul. I've broken my fingers and lied through my teeth, the pillar of damage control" on the final version. I think the demo wins very slightly, maybe.

It's slower and Billie sings in this nice creepy slow way . I really like all the pre-Dookie live versions of Longview for the same reason, it sounded really laid back and jazzy and different, a more over-the-top contrast to their other songs than the final version:
