jetsrule128 Posted May 20, 2011 Posted May 20, 2011 nothing exciting billie did not show and some lady stole his speech http://www.broadway.com/videos/153547/2011-broadwaycom-audience-choice-awards/ Starts at 25:30
Annie, get your gun Posted May 20, 2011 Posted May 20, 2011 He wasn't there? Ow... Edit: damn, i can't see the video
kelly42fox Posted May 20, 2011 Posted May 20, 2011 They don't go to half of the award shows that they're nominated for, and this was NOT a big one... About the woman's speech... My immediate thought was, 'Wow... that was highly inappropriate and condescending...' But I'm slightly amused that she thanked Jesus...
Daughter.of.Rage.and.Love Posted May 20, 2011 Posted May 20, 2011 I don't know if that was supposed to be comedic or funny, but I just thought it was very rude and condescending. It didn't come across as a joke at all, if it was meant to be at all. I can take a joke, but this was just ... eh.
Comedy & Tragedy Posted May 20, 2011 Posted May 20, 2011 Well that was painful to watch... Really happy he won and all, but my god, could someone shoot that woman please? Was she trying to be funny, because I honestly couldn't tell.
EvanAsFuck Posted May 20, 2011 Posted May 20, 2011 That's was really weird... I'm having a hard time figuring out whether she's serious or not...
Jaymee!! Posted May 20, 2011 Posted May 20, 2011 I can see a Twitter-rant stemming from this. Billie really doesn't like people discussing his fame and fortune, let alone making a mockery of it.
Hermione Posted May 20, 2011 Posted May 20, 2011 Lame. I wouldn't say it was offensive, just painfully unfunny. It was as though she'd just written a "funny" speech that didn't apply to anyone in particular, the things she said didn't apply to/describe Billie in any way. Also in this day and age couldn't he have done a video acceptance?
Desensitized09 Posted May 20, 2011 Posted May 20, 2011 Well that was... stupid. All three of the women on stage seemed like morons. I sort of almost wish he didn't win the award now... he deserves better praise than that.
Metanoia Posted May 20, 2011 Posted May 20, 2011 Well that was painful to watch... Really happy he won and all, but my god, could someone shoot that woman please? Was she trying to be funny, because I honestly couldn't tell. I can only concur.
Daughter.of.Rage.and.Love Posted May 20, 2011 Posted May 20, 2011 Lame. I wouldn't say it was offensive, just painfully unfunny. It was as though she'd just written a "funny" speech that didn't apply to anyone in particular, the things she said didn't apply to/describe Billie in any way. Well I mean with the whole "I already have sooo many awards sitting on my desk and am too busy to come" thing... I mean, that kind of does apply to the whole rockstar cliché. It definitely doesn't apply to Billie, but he is a rockstar and he couldn't come and he has won a lot of awards... Plus she was allowed on stage. I doubt that was just a funny speech designed for no one in particular.
Hermione Posted May 20, 2011 Posted May 20, 2011 The title of this thread should be "Video Of Woman Accepting Audience Choice Award On Billie's Behalf". The current title causes great disappointment Well I mean with the whole "I already have sooo many awards sitting on my desk and am too busy to come" thing... I mean, that kind of does apply to the whole rockstar cliché. It definitely doesn't apply to Billie, but he is a rockstar and he couldn't come and he has won a lot of awards... Yeah that's true. Watching the whole thing it seems like she doesn't know anything about him/who he is other than he's a rockstar so she just made some lame general rockstar jokes.
Daughter.of.Rage.and.Love Posted May 20, 2011 Posted May 20, 2011 Yeah that's true. Watching the whole thing it seems like she doesn't know anything about him/who he is other than he's a rockstar so she just made some lame general rockstar jokes. Yeah, probably. Which is very unfortunate because Billie is not like that at all and he's been exceptionally commited to the musical especially. And as for musical award shows... they flew over from their Europe tour just for the Tony's!
Hermione Posted May 20, 2011 Posted May 20, 2011 Yeah, probably. Which is very unfortunate because Billie is not like that at all and he's been exceptionally commited to the musical especially. And as for musical award shows... they flew over from their Europe tour just for the Tony's! Yeah so she just looks like an arse to anyone who actually knows anything about him . I think if she did know anything about him and said those things it'd be offensive. But I reckon she just doesn't have a clue. I wonder who she is and why on Earth she was picked to do this?
Wolfdemon Posted May 20, 2011 Posted May 20, 2011 I don't see why everybody was laughing. that wasn't funny at all. It was dumb and it was pretty insulting I think. Every fan knows that Billie doesn't give a shit about the money he gets (or at least so he says..) Plus, isn't his son getting ready for the tour for Emily's Army? Don't they have shows this weekend? Maybe he's going to those? Duh? Then again I have no idea when the awards took place but still.
AnnA™ Posted May 20, 2011 Posted May 20, 2011 I too fail to see how that was funny. I guess she was trying to be, but it was just incredibly stupid and a tad bit insulting making him out to be an ass pretty much, even if it was only a joke. I'm hoping that these Broadway people have actually met him and know what he's like. I'm sure she was only trying to be funny in a harmless way, but it felt a bit like making fun of a rockstar on Broadway. Painful to watch. I wonder if Billie was aware of this speech already, and who that lame woman is. A silly thing like this is not worth getting all worked up about, but I'd like to hear Billie's thoughts on it.
Laurenn Posted May 20, 2011 Posted May 20, 2011 I wonder if that lady had any idea of what she was saying. I'm sure she meant to be funny, not so much insulting. But it was bad. It was quite amusing though when she started to thank God
Stormy Haze Posted May 20, 2011 Posted May 20, 2011 And the award for the lamest acceptance speech goes to... wait, what's her name again?
Vrock09 Posted May 20, 2011 Posted May 20, 2011 I honestly think if Billie would have been more informed about it, he would have showed up. I wonder if there were any AI Cast members were there and didn't find it amusing. I'm sure they wouldn't, or at least it'd make them feel very awkward. Can't really blame them cus they probably have that "rockstar" image in their minds that only care about money and fame, but, the crazy woman could have researched all the artists before she made a fool of herself in front of all her fellow broadway friends.
Kayfabe Posted May 20, 2011 Posted May 20, 2011 what? on a seperate fangirling note, Audra MacDonald was presenting the awards. jfutgrhrtigwky . But yeah, it was supposed to be funny, calling Billie out on his greatness, but it just ended up being weird and awkward and uncomfortable.
Tubbie Head Posted May 20, 2011 Posted May 20, 2011  She's got issues. I feel bad for Billie to have people like that thinking what she thinks of him. Obviously she doesn't know him. Accepting his award the way she did was just really disrespectful..
