Do you guys prefer Green Day's older music over thier new music... do you think they "fell off" ?

Ive seen people saying that since 21st Century Breakdown

Personally I think its natural that they would grow as artists or as a band and I love it all.

Havent seen one of these threads, if there is then woops.

But, discuss (?)

I love Green Day.

That's all.

Yeah this seems to be one of those conversations that always comes around.

For me, I don't know if I really prefer one over the other. They are different enough for me to enjoy equally in different situations. I love old quick Green Day songs, and I love the more intricate music they do now.

Some people will forever believe that they peaked at Dookie, and others won't venture too far from American Idiot. Though you do gotta say that people who picked up Green Day during American Idiot seem much more interested in early-Green Day as those early fans do in newer-Green Day.

To me, there is little they can do that I don't like. Except for The Network :P

I love it all. There are times where I'll be into just the old stuff for awhile, and times where I'll be into the new stuff. Usually I'm into it all, though.

I don't think I listen to the new stuff much, except for when it comes out. I get obsessive about it, overplay it - then go back. For some reason I always go back and listen to Warning. That's the only one I never get tired of.

Current favorite song: Panic Song.

I love Green Day. Period.

It's kinda funny though, some people draw the line between old/new between Warning and American Idiot, and some (like me) draw the line between Kerplunk and Dookie.

So I guess we have 3 parts- old, middle aged, and new Green Day.

I love the old stuff more than the new one.

Yeah okay, the newer records have really awesome songs, all of them are amazing, but I prefer the old stuff.

Green Day is always awesome and epic.

Thats like, the opposite of what I do.

I love all the old stuff but American Idiot is still my favourite GD album. I guess cos its the album that got me into them like crazy, so itll always be that album.

But thier next one might change all that, who knows.

I really love all Green Day. I mean, there's periods where I listen to their old stuff for a while and then listen to their newer stuff for a while... but all in all, I love all of their songs, and I don't think any period of time is better than the other.

I just love Green Day in general, I will love them to the end of time no matter what, but I do have to say that their older stuff just seems more calming and familiar to me. However, all their new songs are welcomed with wide, open arms and I do have times where I'll just play their new stuff for a while and then I'll revert back to older songs. I definitely play it by mood, though.

I love both old and new Green Day it would just depend on what I feel like listening to or what mood I'm in. Sometimes I only listen to the older songs, sometimes only the new songs or both old and new together.

I think I'm one of the very few fans who prefers the new stuff to the old stuff, generally speaking. That's not to say I don't love every album they've put out, though.

Who cares? Green Day is Green Day, whether it's 'new' or 'old'.

Posted

I pretty much have the same decision as most, I love Green Day and that is all.... And yeah it probably clouds my judgement, but oh well

It changes from time to time whether I prefer the old or the new stuff, though I think in general 21stCB is the album that I get way into the least often.

I love it all though, I don't think they "fell off".

It's kind of funny actually, the albums where it happens the least often that I'm really into it, are their first two albums and their last album, haha.

Uh yeah, and another thread...

Old Green Day FTW though... Haven't been listening to 21st Century Breakdown for months...

In my opinion I prefer Green Day. They have a sound.

meaningless post is meaningless OLOLOLOLO

Older music is better, but I do like newer stuff.

I like it all :)

When I started liking Green Day, I didnt like the old songs though. But that´s because Im wasnt used to that kind of music at all. But now I love it :D

But what is old and new Green Day? =/ American Idiot and 21st CB are new I guess. But is Warning old? Before Dookie is old. Or before Nimrod?

No matter what, it's all Green Day and awesome!

So I guess we have 3 parts- old, middle aged, and new Green Day.

Yeah this! :)

The albums I listening to the most is Nimrod, Warning and AI. So I prefer middle aged or what? I really love every single album though

"Nothing beats the old shit I'll tell you that right now"

American Idiot is still probably (just) my favourite GD album though, it just shouldn't work on so many levels but it is a work of inspired genius.

I like Dookie the most because it made me a fan.

The new stuff is more mature or sophisticated .

The old stuff is more like  , it`s fun to listen to.

"21 st Century BD" is the first album which I don`t love 100% .Actually I`m not sure why ( maybe I blame the producer),

but this is only my opinion.

I can't say that I love new Green Day more than old Green Day.

Just like I can't say that I love old Green Day more than new Green Day.

It's just amazing seeing how different a band can be.

I really love all their albums and (for me) Green Day is still Green Day.

Love them, whatever they did.

Haha, overused the band's name

Well like some of you said, I really can't say if I like old or new green day the best. It really depends on my mood, and like Andres said, I always go back to warning.

Of course you can't deny green day wouldn't be where they're at if it wasn't for AI, so many people wouldn't have heard about them if it wasn't for that album.

I can't wait for their new album. I have the feeling it won't be a concept album but maybe something more like warning or nimrod :)

Havent we had this debate like 10,000 times already

Anyway, i have no preference really, i love both. Even my two fave songs come from the two. Paper Lanterns and Letterbomb. I love them both equally.
