Iminyourcoffeemaker Posted March 19, 2011 Posted March 19, 2011 My friend and I are going to attempt to play and videotape every single Green Day song ever made and put the videos on YouTube. We have some things we are pondering though, and I was hoping you guys might be able to give some advice. Should we: Play it acoustic guitars + vocals? Play with drums and electric guitar - vocals? Play with electric guitars + vocals? Start with 21CB or 39 Smooth? Easiest to hardest, hardest to easiest, chronological order? Anything cool we could add? We are starting monday and we hope to do 2 albums a day. Thanks! Btw, I didnt know what thread to put this in.
abhishek Posted March 19, 2011 Posted March 19, 2011 thats awesome dude! the best part is 2 albums a day! great. well, if i were you i wouldn't do every song, but perform a supercool green day top 50 complete with medleys, improvisations, mash ups of my favorite songs, modified songs etc. acoustic/electric depends on each song, use according to the nature of the song. chronological order of each and every song would be predictable, that's why i suggested this. anyways dude, have a blast. oh, and please tell what all equipment you'll be using. my band covers a lot of green day too
Iminyourcoffeemaker Posted March 19, 2011 Author Posted March 19, 2011 Yeah, I really enjoy the free time I have from being cut from the baseball team. Hahaha. Plus its spring break. I have a week.
Laurenn Posted March 19, 2011 Posted March 19, 2011 Haha I really wish I had this much time on my hands.. I say either electric or acoustic and vocals starting with 39 smooth and chronological order.
M3G4N Posted March 19, 2011 Posted March 19, 2011 You seriously have a shitload of free time on your hands, but it sounds like a cool idea. I'd say do a mixture of acoustic and electric, just to mix it up a little. Add your own spin to it. Mashups would be awesome. Take your time and do some good, quality covers. Good luck.
Iminyourcoffeemaker Posted March 19, 2011 Author Posted March 19, 2011 Omg I know I have free time. I have spring break! Haha. Ill be using either an Epiphone Les Paul, Acoustic Taylor and Martin guitars, or a shitty drumset. Depends what I do. While I do think a mashup would be cool, the challenge is to do every song. So it might happen after we do every one. Can anyone think of any songs that would sound better acoustically than electric and vice versa.
ParadoxAndPlaid Posted March 19, 2011 Posted March 19, 2011 This sounds like quite an endeavorer. Only CD releases? or B-sides too?
The Platypus! Posted March 19, 2011 Posted March 19, 2011 This sounds like quite an endeavorer. Only CD releases? or B-sides too? If they B-sides to wouldn't that take forever ?
ParadoxAndPlaid Posted March 20, 2011 Posted March 20, 2011 If they B-sides to wouldn't that take forever ? It will take forever regardless! Might as well go all out.
koolkev Posted March 20, 2011 Posted March 20, 2011 I could do Drums... I think you shouldn't do all of it... Try 100 for startersWhat recording mics? I'm getting a Blue Snowball soon, and am REALLY exited :X
Iminyourcoffeemaker Posted March 20, 2011 Author Posted March 20, 2011 Which B sides should we do? And why only 100??
koolkev Posted March 20, 2011 Posted March 20, 2011 Do you really have THAT MUCH TIME? Fuck, man. If you got the time, do it though.
The Platypus! Posted March 20, 2011 Posted March 20, 2011 It will take forever regardless! Might as well go all out. Fair enough. I'm looking forward to it .
Sweet Armataged Chump Posted March 20, 2011 Posted March 20, 2011 Cool. I was thinking about doing a challenge like making a lyric video for each song. My youtube: http://www.youtube.com/user/joseph507357
Iminyourcoffeemaker Posted March 21, 2011 Author Posted March 21, 2011 Fair enough. I'm looking forward to it . Haha it shouldnt take that long. We dont need to learn that many of them. But thanks, Ill post the link when we are finished. It will take forever regardless! Might as well go all out. What B sides should we do?
Satan Posted March 21, 2011 Posted March 21, 2011 this sounds so awesome! are you covering EVERY green day song? even songs like when it's time, favorite son, cigs and vals ect?

Isabel Posted March 21, 2011 Posted March 21, 2011 Why are people going on about having so much free time? If he has a week off then it doesn't seem so surprising. Go for it! I'd say definitely do it in chronological order
Iminyourcoffeemaker Posted April 6, 2011 Author Posted April 6, 2011 Update: We have done almost all of it but we have had a lot of setbacks. Hopefully up by the end of April.
