Shadowiegirl Posted March 17, 2011 Posted March 17, 2011 Green Day are in this week's Kerrang magazine. The article is nothing really you haven't seen before, but the review of Awesome as F**K might be of interest so thought I would post the scans anyway. Cover Ultimate Guide to Punk Kerrang's Review of Awesome as F**k
Katarina. Posted March 17, 2011 Posted March 17, 2011 Thanks! We have a Green Day Random News thread btw, and someone posted the scans of that article in there already.
Shadowiegirl Posted March 17, 2011 Author Posted March 17, 2011 Whoops, hadn't noticed. Maybe some kind mod will remove this duplicate thread then.
Tubbie Head Posted March 17, 2011 Posted March 17, 2011 Thanks for the scans! I'm not buying this one... Only last week's... I hope I can still find it here next week in stores..
Punk-tastic32 Posted March 17, 2011 Posted March 17, 2011 Awesome, thanks. It's a pain in the ass to get Kerrang! here.
Hermione Posted March 17, 2011 Posted March 17, 2011 Thanks for the scans Ros! Don't think I've seen that cool old photo before. Also the random news thread sucks , much better to have separate threads for stuff.
Hermione Posted March 17, 2011 Posted March 17, 2011 I like it . Especially the way they have GREEN DAY listed first in the ultimate guide to punk!
Juliette Posted March 17, 2011 Posted March 17, 2011 Thanks for the scans "21 Guns isn't quite the same stripe of monster ballad as BOBD or Are We The Waiting" - what? Pretty sure 21 Guns has to be one of their best known songs atm. Actually just noticed they said BIAB is shit so that's not really surprising how much they're grating on it.
fadi_7 Posted March 17, 2011 Posted March 17, 2011 this is awesome i'm sure they will be there when awesome as fuck will come out !
Alan86 Posted March 17, 2011 Posted March 17, 2011 I like it . Especially the way they have GREEN DAY listed first in the ultimate guide to punk! Above the sex pistols, johnny rotten won't be happy, then again he never is
Hermione Posted March 17, 2011 Posted March 17, 2011 ^ I don't think the article is criticizing their success, it's criticizing the fact that they weren't given the critical acclaim they deserved before American Idiot. Kerrang had praised them for years before AI so it was annoying to see other magazines etc suddenly giving them praise just because they were flavour of the month when they'd never valued the band before. Basically just trying to show off how great Kerrang is for already liking them before AI lol.
Stormy Haze Posted March 17, 2011 Posted March 17, 2011 Thanks for the scans Thanks for the scans! I'm not buying this one... Only last week's... I hope I can still find it here next week in stores.. Where do you find Kerrang? I've never seen it anywhere...
Annie, get your gun Posted March 17, 2011 Posted March 17, 2011 Thanks a lot for the scans! It's gonna be an awesome reading! I like the picture of the 2nd page, I haven't seen it before. Kerrang must have tons of juicy photos...
Smoothed Out Posted March 17, 2011 Posted March 17, 2011 I've got the issue here, but tbh I'm not very pleased with the review of AAF. More specifically, saying things like, BIAB was `terrible` and the title of AAF is `awful`, I just find saying things that like is extremely unfair of Kerrang! But overall K! do a lot for Green Day and can't forget that Thanks for the scans etc.
ganis Posted March 17, 2011 Posted March 17, 2011 the annoying brat who did the review misspellt longview. (in the article it said Long View) I can accept if the reviewer didn't like AAF, fine, but some of his reasons for not liking the CD was lame.. and hating on BIAB, and thinking AAF is a stupid name, I'm kinda upset with that and thanks so much for the scans
Mar Posted March 18, 2011 Posted March 18, 2011 Thanks for the scans "21 Guns isn't quite the same stripe of monster ballad as BOBD or Are We The Waiting" - what? Pretty sure 21 Guns has to be one of their best known songs atm. Actually just noticed they said BIAB is shit so that's not really surprising how much they're grating on it. I think they're referring to the sound of the song, not necessarily the popularity (since Are We the Waiting wasn't a single). In that case, I agree with them, but if you're right, I disagree, too. Granted, I'm only on Viva la Gloria, but thus far, I think the review is pretty accurate
gdpony Posted March 18, 2011 Posted March 18, 2011 Awesome! Kerrang, always showing big love for the band
Tubbie Head Posted March 18, 2011 Posted March 18, 2011 Where do you find Kerrang? I've never seen it anywhere... 'Press Center' at Algarve Shopping and some other magazine stores...
