chickin'pickin' Posted January 20, 2011 Posted January 20, 2011 Just recently, I have noticed a few bands getting on the bandwagon of playing their debut or most successful album to date in it's entirety live. Not just for one or two gigs, but for a whole tour (The Buzzcocks and The Rezillos come to mind). This obviously garners alot of attention from the fan base, and i'd imagine that the atmosphere would be buzzing. I would like to know that if Green Day considered it, would you enjoy a gig dedicated to one album? And if you are, which would you pick? I'm adding a poll, to see how each individual albums fair without reading several posts just saying "Dookie", "American Idiot" etc etc. This does not mean that I will accept seeing such posts. I would endeavour to provoke more than a caveman-esque grunt in text form. As a little sub-topic, what other bands would you like to see do this? My choice goes to Dookie. An iconic album that EVERY Green Day fan old and new should know inside out. Would create an atmosphere bordering on insane.
Katarina. Posted January 20, 2011 Posted January 20, 2011 Nimrod. I love that album, and to hear live versions of songs like Redundant, Scattered, Uptight and especially Haushinka would be just amazing. I would love to go to a Green Day show and hear them play that whole record. Same with Kerplunk and Warning actually.
jake smith Posted January 20, 2011 Posted January 20, 2011 Dookie, matbe not the longest albumm ever but all the songs would be really good live
Laura! Posted January 20, 2011 Posted January 20, 2011 For me, it's a 4 way tie. 1039, Kerplunk, Nimrod and Warning. There are songs on all 4 albums that I would love to hear live.
Sanity Loan Posted January 20, 2011 Posted January 20, 2011 I voted 1039 but I would either want that or Kerplunk. Sure, I would like any album live in its entirety but having those two first albums would be GREAT. Especially considering how different Billie's voice is.
pasalaska Posted January 20, 2011 Posted January 20, 2011 I'm torn between Kerplunk (which I voted for) and Nimrod. Kerplunk, because that album is just so youthful - it's recording quality, Billie's voice... I'd love to see what it'd sound like now, especially with Billie's voice the way it's more mature now (and a LOT less high). Plus, there are a ton of songs on there that barely ever get played ever. Like Android. I saw it in soundcheck at Manchester, but I would love to see it properly during the show. Oh, and also we'd get to hear Sweet Children/Best Thing In Town/Strageland... and maybe, just maybe we'd finally get to work out the lyrics. Nimrod, because it's eclectic - soft ballads to hardcore. We'd finally get to see Take Back live, and not have Billie cop out and play Platypus instead.
Lindsay Posted January 20, 2011 Posted January 20, 2011 Either Warning or Dookie would be my choices since they're both my two favorite albums. I would love to hear Misery & Castaway live.
sampy Posted January 20, 2011 Posted January 20, 2011 I'd love to hear both, Nimrod and Warning live, but my vote goes to Warning. It's so great album with so special songs. I would jizz in my pants if they could play some day songs like Church on Sunday, Castaway, Fashion Victim, MISERY, Deadbeat Holiday, Hold On. That could be so awesome! But there's also many songs on Nimrod which I'd love to hear played live, like WORRY ROCK, Reject, The Grouch. But if I have to choose, I choose Warning, it's so special album.
Ally Posted January 20, 2011 Posted January 20, 2011 I'd like to see 1039 just because i would love to see the do the very old stuff, they only seem to do GTP and Christie Road and thats as old as they get, so it would be amazing just to see them do the very old stuff. Plus its my favourite album.
elisa Posted January 20, 2011 Posted January 20, 2011 International Superhits. sorry, had to. anyway hmm.. I think I'd pick either Insomniac or American Idiot. they are my favorite Green Day records.
The Guy Called Kill Posted January 20, 2011 Posted January 20, 2011 An 8 night stint somewhere where they did an album each night would be amazing. Although I don't see it happening any time soon I can always dream!
beejeezee Posted January 20, 2011 Posted January 20, 2011 Nimrod. I love The Grouch, Platypus, King For A Day. And Hitchin A Ride' of course. You guys know what I mean :eyebrow:
Daughter.of.Rage.and.Love Posted January 20, 2011 Posted January 20, 2011 I guess either Kerplunk or Insomniac. Kerplunk because I'd love to see one of the pre-Dookie albums played now, because of how their playing has improved and especially how Billie's voice has changed (I love the way old songs sound now), and out of those two albums I like Kerplunk better. Insomniac because I love that album as well, they don't play a whole lot of songs from it and I'd just love to be there. Nimrod would be great too, because of its lenght and diversity. And I want to hear Billie try Take Back I really like Warning as well, but I think it would be less fun to be at a concert of purely Warning. Don't get me wrong, it would be fucking awesome, but I hope you know what I mean. Not Dookie, American Idiot or 21st Century Breakdown because they generally play those songs more often (though not a lot of Dookie). Out of those three Dookie would have my preference. All this said, it would be great to be at any concert where they played an album front to back, no matter what album. This is really just a list from "really awesome" to "still really awesome", haha.
chickin'pickin' Posted January 20, 2011 Author Posted January 20, 2011 No votes for Insomniac? That's an amazing album, and is my favourite too. I think that dookie, just by a gnats wing would edge it in a live gig.
elisa Posted January 20, 2011 Posted January 20, 2011 No votes for Insomniac? That's an amazing album, and is my favourite too. I think that dookie, just by a gnats wing would edge it in a live gig. I voted for Insomniac. i think it'd be a rad show, especially if played in a small venue.
chickin'pickin' Posted January 20, 2011 Author Posted January 20, 2011 I voted for Insomniac. i think it'd be a rad show, especially if played in a small venue. I think a band like Green Day is suited to small venue gigs anyway. The arena shows are good and all, but I dunno, they just feel as though they're lacking in something.
DecanoLP Posted January 20, 2011 Posted January 20, 2011 Nimrod would be completely awesome. Live versions of Worry Rock, Walking Away or Reject would complete my life...
greendaytone Posted January 20, 2011 Posted January 20, 2011 Interestingly, Billie Joe has said on a couple of occasions now, that he'd like to do Kerplunk!
Satan Posted January 20, 2011 Posted January 20, 2011 i voted for nimrod, mostly because pf platypus, take back, king for a day, prosthetic head and good riddance. but i would love AI because of the story, and 21cb because it's diverse like warning... but much longer, and it's my favorite album
Devan Posted January 20, 2011 Posted January 20, 2011 Definately Insomniac! Even though its pretty short, they could just play it over and over again.
CzechIdiot Posted January 20, 2011 Posted January 20, 2011 1039, Kerplunk or Nimrod ...it would be awesome to hear all the songs live!!!
