Green Day and the Middle East

So Green Day have been to the US, Europe, parts of Asia, Australia and South America...

I have been living in Jordan in the Middle East for most of my teenage years, so I was wondering why the band has always avoided this region.

Has the band ever mentioned anything about this issue? If yes, please update me.

If no, what do you think are reasons for Green Day's absence? Are the ongoing conflicts in this region an issue? Or is it simply not worth it in terms of money?

I know there are other parts in this world where Green Day hasn't been yet, but i know a lot of people here in Jordan who share my thoughts so I hope this is worth a topic...

It's not really up to the band themselves were they tour, its more their management that decides, they normally tour the areas where the record has sold really well, so they can sell out massive arenas and fill out their pockets.

They probably haven't played in Jordan because of that reason, but the ongoing troubles in the Middle East are probably a big no no aswell( but my political knowledge tells me that Jordan is a very safe country, correct me if I'm wrong)

You do have hope though, more and more bands are starting to tour in those regions, my 2nd favorite band, Placebo, played in Israel and Saudi Arabia on their last tour, I think might have played more places in that region, but I can't remember.

I hope you do get to see Green Day in the future! Whether you have to travel abroad or they come to you, it will be an experience to remember! :D

Yeah to be honest I'm not even expecting them to come to Jordan (although it is quite safe you're right :P), but there is quite a huge international community in eg. Israel or the United Arab Emirates, and last October a German punk band (Die Toten Hosen) played here in Jordan for some reason and there were a lot of people coming even though the band isn't really well known, so as a reflection of the whole region i can say that people are interested

there is a lot of bands that came to here and it was awesome!! and palestinian issue isn't dangerous all the time at the moment there is nothing and the concerts are far away from the problems that happen so there is nothing to be afraid from. linkin park were here a lot of times and nothing happened and the people here are great don't make troubles

Yeah...you see you can't really say Israel belongs to the Middle East, i mean geographically yes, but in reality sadly its not as easy...so speaking in terms of Green Day, if they would ever play in Israel, then I would advise them to play one show in an Arab country too, just to avoid conflicts....

I don't know guys,I wish you to see GD live in your countries, cause this is what I want too,but we have to say that it is difficult for you and for me too.let's wait and see,you can travel abroad to see them live,it's a nice solution... :)

yes i could come and i certainly would. but i have a German passport, that makes it easier for me to enter and exit Israel as for someone with a Jordanian passport who is planning to visit countries such as Syria in the future who have a less friendly status towards Israel as Jordan...

so speaking for the majority of Arabs, they'd be quite hesistant to go to Israel i believe :/

i know, but sadly a lot of Arabs still feel like Israel is their enemy...:/

but anyway this is going slightly off topic, we should discuss politics elsewhere ;-)
