x^KingForADay^x Posted January 10, 2011 Posted January 10, 2011 Do yout parents support you being a Green Day fan or disagrre and try to ignore it and hide it. I wanna know. My dad at first didn't and my mom a?ways did but my dad finally came around. I wanna hear your stories and share mine and others to share with everyone. So have fun.
Vespertine Posted January 10, 2011 Posted January 10, 2011 My parents love the fact I am a Green Day fan for some reason. They actually support me way too much. haha
Katarina. Posted January 10, 2011 Posted January 10, 2011 They're fine with it. Especially after I went to see the Green Day World Stage movie in the cinema with my mother. She (finally) understands a lot more why I love and appreciate this band so much.
Silverlight Posted January 10, 2011 Posted January 10, 2011 My parents love 'em. My mother is almost as bigger fan than I am
Liam Posted January 10, 2011 Posted January 10, 2011 We already have a thread like this here http://www.greendaycommunity.org/Forum/index.php?showtopic=20597
Juliette Posted January 10, 2011 Posted January 10, 2011 I don't get how it's like a thing to support / be ashamed of. It's like saying do your parents support your favourite colour or something, idk.
Vespertine Posted January 10, 2011 Posted January 10, 2011 I don't get how it's like a thing to support / be ashamed of. It's like saying do your parents support your favourite colour or something, idk. Well, they could be against the fact that you are a Green Day fan. That's very much possible. Doesn't mean it would change things, but it's possible.
Satan Posted January 10, 2011 Posted January 10, 2011 my parents are fine with me being a fan, but the absolutly cannot stand the music and whenever i'm playing their stuff in the car, i have to turn the volume down when they swear
whatshername0303 Posted January 10, 2011 Posted January 10, 2011 My parents are fine with the fact that I love Green Day...they like them too! They came with me to their show in July '09.
gloria123 Posted January 10, 2011 Posted January 10, 2011 my parents couldn't care less my dad is taking me to see the musical (oh joy) so now he walks around the house singing their songs!
Burnout98 Posted January 10, 2011 Posted January 10, 2011 They don't mind at all. Its just when my dad actually hears them he has a problem. He says its fine just as long as you dont play it aloud when im home.
gdpony Posted January 10, 2011 Posted January 10, 2011 There's a few threads like this out there. and my parents don't mind. They actually were very supportive when I decided to travel by myself to finally get to see them live.
Jacob. Posted January 10, 2011 Posted January 10, 2011 If anything, I think they accept it since I went to a concert with them in 2009. Even if I didn't go to the concert, I don't think they would've cared if I liked them.
pasalaska Posted January 10, 2011 Posted January 10, 2011 My mum quite likes Green Day, she tries to sing along to some songs and she's seen them live 3 times. She likes Dominated Love Slave alot, I think it might be her favourite. I know that she's beyond grateful that I don't listen to RnB/Hip Hop/Dance music And it was my mum that encouraged me to go and follow the live tour last year, she even loaned me some money for flights. She knows what this band means to me She likes most of my bands really.
Doris The Spider Posted January 10, 2011 Posted January 10, 2011 My mom and I had a fight today and she said that Green Day was my life. I told her she was wrong but she didn't believe. She is more wrong than she could know. She doesn't know me as well as she thinks she does. I haven't been obsessed with Green Day for over 2 years. I don't even talk about them anymore. But they are still my favorite band... [/rant]
ANJI Posted January 10, 2011 Posted January 10, 2011 I'm glad they're happy with it. They even like a few songs, and i took my mum to one of their shows They get me loads of GD merch too...i'm really thankful for their support
aldyofficial Posted January 10, 2011 Posted January 10, 2011 My parents don't mind if I were a Green Day Fan,,, but my father is always give some critics when we watch Green Day show on TV,, i remember once my father said that Billie's voice is not match with the music.. I hate that but as long as they not disallow me to being a Green Day fan, I love them both
Daddy. Posted January 10, 2011 Posted January 10, 2011 They joke about me having freinds, who live all round the world But they don't mind, they know how much i love them. I even got a "Happy Christmas 3's" card
AnnA™ Posted January 10, 2011 Posted January 10, 2011 My parents support it. Dad used to be teasing me a lot about them, and assume that I'd get bored of them very soon. I didn't. I think he's glad I've got something to be so passionate about, although when I was more obssessed with them he wished I would broaden my musical horizons. It almost annoyed him that I would listen to the same band day in and day out. But then when the tour started, he'd really started to understand and accept it. He's payed for some concert tickets and helped me with travels. Even though he seemed to think I was nuts travelling around Europe to see them, he supported me. Mum actually likes them herself, kind of. She's always supported me and almost indulged me with band merch and stuff for some time. She likes a few songs and came with me to see them in Munich. It was a long trip and I never thought she'd agree to come. She had a good time though!
DecanoLP Posted January 10, 2011 Posted January 10, 2011 My parents don't really care what music I'm listening too. But my mom likes them a lot because she is amazed by their live qualities
The Thespian Posted January 10, 2011 Posted January 10, 2011 My mom is surprisingly ok with me listening to Green Day. She usually hates the music I listen to, but she bought me Green Day concert tickets and really likes Billie Joe for some reason O_____O
Beathe. Posted January 10, 2011 Posted January 10, 2011 I've been a fan since I was a kid. My parents haven't really cared. My dad would probably have been pissed if he'd seen a Green Day concert because of the way BJ acts. But I'm almost 20 now so who cares.
Daughter.of.Rage.and.Love Posted January 10, 2011 Posted January 10, 2011 My parents are fine with it, but they do think I like them too much, that I am obsessed. My dad went with me to two concerts as well (because I/we needed an adult to go with us). They don't really support me, but they're not stopping me either. Although they don't like it very much when I buy merch, occasionally forbid me to buy anything (and I can't do anything to stop it because I need their credit card), and they don't want me to go out of the country for Green Day anymore (even if I can pay and organize everything myself). But they did get me Nobody Likes You for Christmas because I put it on my wishlist So, they're not against it, and they support it a little, but they think I take it too far. And while my dad doesn't usually listen Green Day or music like that, he is glad I listen this instead of hip hop or dance and all that stuff
sara_gd Posted January 10, 2011 Posted January 10, 2011 We already have a thread like this here http://www.greendaycommunity.org/Forum/index.php?showtopic=20597 But that's if they like Green Day, not what they think about you being a fan. My dad says that the only thing that these guys have done for me is making me interested on english. Like... yeeeahh...
Ellenkc Posted January 10, 2011 Posted January 10, 2011 My dad likes them, I'm a bit pissed because he flew off to Spain with my copy of Warning and Kerplunk yesterday. My mom doesn't like them too much but she's not really bothered, she just likes Billie Joe because she reckons he looks like Charlie Chaplin. They're both perfectly willing to drive me to concerts, movies etc. They're just happy Green Day got me into liking all the older punk bands they listen to. I'd say a good 70% of my conversations with my dad are about bands from the 70/80's.
