How many shows has Green Day played all together? I suddenly feel the need to know... I really wanted to know how many individuals have seen Green Day live, but then I realized there was no way to know :( Does anyone have the answer to this question or know where I could find it?

I think that would be pretty much impossible, unless you've stalked Green Day since 1987....

^ Yeah, like Burnout said, it's pretty much impossible.

Also, this could have gone in the Green Day Questions and Answers thread instead of making a brand new one.

This is an interesting question. I don't think this would be impossible to answer, but it'll definitely take a hell of a lot of time to figure out.

Theres a lot of concerts from the late 80's - early 90's that we don't know about yet. If you wanna know how many are know than just look at the live guide over on gdtorrent.com and count them up.

Moving on from that... I'd love to know..

I think it must be near the thouasand or 900 mark!

Well, you can look at the setlist.fm for the shows they have, which is so far the most comprehensive list.

http://www.setlist.fm/stats/green-day-13d68939.html

That number comes out to 712. I'm sure that's not every show, but pretty good estimate.

Setlist.fm also has double setlists occasionally.

A whole fucking lot.

I'd have said a couple thousand roughly. Maybe.

not less than 800, for sure

I'd say it's over a thousand for sure. They must've done over 300 in the AI and 21CB tours alone.

It is an interesting question though, and not impossible to get figure out an approximate figure :sherlock:

I would have thought there would have been a lot more then that. I would have thought at least 1000.

I'd say 1000+. I looked on Wikipedia and saw that there were 132 dates from the 21CB tour. I'd say close to that for the AI tour, and at least 100 for most of the previous tours. There's also the Pop Disaster tour (which was 47 dates, according to Wiki), and I guess if you want to include them, the Foxboro Hot Tubs and The Network tours (which wasn't many, but seeing as they are technically Green Day, they can be counted). So, with all that said, at least 1000. :)

And there was old Sweet Children shows too, if that'd count...

I feel the need to know too! It's gotta be over 1000. But surely there MUST be a way to find out , I mean even their tiny little early gigs were announced/known about in some form or another. It's gotta be possible to work it out to within a reasonable degree of accuracy. I'm sure I remember an interview where Mike mentioned they'd passed the 1000 show mark. I wonder if the band knows? Or cares :P

well i remember watching a couple of shows from the late 2010 21st Century Breakdown tour, and i specificly remember Billie saying 'this is our 1000th show, righ here, right now..'

so y'know:L

I don't think Billie counts the shows they play... maybe he does... where did you see that?

I thought it was possible to know more or less, but after searching for a while, I've come to the conclusion that it's not. Here it goes:

Setlist FM says they played 13 shows between 1987 and 1990. I think they played more than 3 times on Gilman, so let's say 20 shows aproximately.

In spring 1990 the frontman concentrated on booking a forty-five-date U.S. Tour for the band (...) By the time Mike had graduated from school, a total of forty-five dates had indeed been booked (no mean feat), and the very next day Green Day hit the road to show America how they did things back West. For the next three years the band would stay on tour for no less than seven months each year – an average of four shows per week, every week.- Book “Nobody likes you”.

That's something like 330 shows between 1991 and 1993. SetlistFM tells me they're 54 though... I don't think it's very reliable, plus I know they were in my city around those years (I think 1992, but I'm not sure) and that's not even there.

Dookie: I know that they were in 6 cities in Spain, but there's only 2 on GeekStinkBreath and 1 in SetlistFM. GSB says there were 32 shows in 1994, and SetlistFM says they're 54.

1995-1996: SetlistFM says they're 39 and GSB 25.

On Greenday.com says that in 1998 they did 8 shows in Japan, but SetlistFM is only aware of 3.

We could go on like that until American Idiot, where I suppose everything is more reliable.

8 shows before the record was out (Reading and stuff), 6 shows on the Club tour, 159 (if I counted right) during the actual AI tour. All this by GSB.

Then there's the FHT shows (and well, The Network ones before American Idiot) and then the shows they did before 21st Century Breakdown was out, that were 28 shows acording to SetlistFM.

The 21st Century Breakdown Tour was a total of 131 dates, from GDA, that is maybe the only thing we know for sure.

So... there are 760 shows listed on SetlistFM.

There are something like 320 shows between 2004 and 2010, and probably something like 300 between 1987 and 1993. We can assume another 300 or maybe 400 (counting the Pop Disaster Tour and all that) between Dookie and American Idiot, and that makes more or less 1000 shows. But it's only guessing.

that would be interesting to know... I mean the exactly number :eyebrow:
