sara_gd Posted December 14, 2010 Posted December 14, 2010 I'm interested on getting a Green Day sheet book for piano. I saw the 21st Century Breakdown one that contains Piano/Vocal/Chords (I'm only interested on piano though), and I've also seen a few trough Amazon: This one is also a 21st Century Breakdown but it says "Easy Piano", I don't know if those are the original sheets? This one is supposed to contain 22 songs off all of their albums (well, not 1039/sosh or kerplunk), for Piano/Vocal/Guitar. I've also seen one that contains Piano/Vocal/Guitar for American Idiot the Musical, I think that's quite interesting too. So, does anyone have any of those and can give me an opinon pleease?
Little Girl Little One Posted December 14, 2010 Posted December 14, 2010 Hm, well I only have the American Idiot (not the musical version) piano/vocal/chords, but it's really good and I'm sure the 21CB one would be similar. I definitely wouldn't go with the Easy Piano version though unless you're relatively new to the instrument. Easy Piano books often skip intros and outros and focus almost exclusively on the melodies, which isn't as much fun. It really comes down to which album you want to learn most; if you want a wide range, obviously the anthology, but it's up to you.

I'm not new to the instrument, I'll take away the option of Easy Piano. My first idea was only to get 21st Century Breakdown but then I saw the others. The anthology includes Last Night on Earth, Restless Heart Syndrome, See the Light, ¡Viva la Gloria¡ and Little Girl, that are basically the ones that have piano off 21stCB. I don't know if it will be the original sheet though, because it doesn't look official... Well, I'll have to decide. Thanks for that

I checked Amazon and it said that the publisher for the anthology is the same as the ones for 21CB and my copy of American Idiot, so don't worry, it will probably be the exact same sheets. I have a question though. Are you hoping to learn just the piano accompaniment so that you or someone else could sing along? Because the books have it written out so that it's both the melody and accompaniment, like this: If you're buying online and therefore haven't had to chance to actually look inside the books, I just want to make sure you know what you're getting into so you're not disappointed if you're expecting something else. And you're welcome!
Nickofsuburbia Posted December 15, 2010 Posted December 15, 2010 i have the 21st Century Breakdown one and it is REALLLY good and very accurate ive played the majority of the songs in that book and it sounds really great i think it was around $20 but it was worth it (Viva La Gloria, Before the Lobotomy, Last Night on Earth, and 21 Guns are probably the best in the book)
Isabel Posted December 15, 2010 Posted December 15, 2010 I have the 21st Century Breakdown piano book, I think it's great....I learned the intro to Restless Heart Syndrome and VLG (Little Girl) so easily

Smoothed Out Posted December 15, 2010 Posted December 15, 2010 I have the first one you posted, the piano, vocal and chords and like you only use it for piano. I do recommend it though, it's really good, the vocals allow you to see more where you're up and the tune you should be playing and tbh I didn't even know it had chords in it they are that discrete on the page. So whether you're just using it for piano or not I would still lean towards that one
Chapmey Posted December 16, 2010 Posted December 16, 2010 So I know this is about piano, but wanted to know if any of you with the vocal parts have any that include vocal harmony. Bought walking contradiction online & could only preview the 1st page, only 2 find no harmony part. would love 2 know if it's in any of the sheet books.
Nuclear Winter Posted December 16, 2010 Posted December 16, 2010 Ive heard from somewhere that these music sheets arent the originals anyway... Im not very sure though. Is this true?

Like, they just said "okay, there's this chord here and I'll ornament(?) it this way", so it's not exactly what it's playing on the CD.
matteo263 Posted December 16, 2010 Posted December 16, 2010 I have the AI one. It is preety cool. I love it

Yeah, backup vocals, "harmony", it's just hard to pick it all out by ear. Wishin ALL GD songs were on rockband so gdkid2010 could create those amazing a cappella tracks for every single song.
