Green Day Covers/Tributes

I thought it might me helpful to some if I listed the covers/tributes to GD like Vitamin String Quartet(VSQ) that I have found. I'm sure I'm missing a lot, but do have a pretty good collection. I'll let you know my opinions on some, but you should listen to the previews on itunes or amazon.com to decide for yourself.

A Salute To Green Day by Various Artists - 44 tracks in this collection(almost half are just instrumental/karaoke versions) worth the money I think($10) some bad singing, but it includes some of the other albums under different names like "A Punk Tribute to GD" and "A Tribute to GD's American Idiot"

Lullaby Renditions of Green Day by Rockabye Baby! - These are cool. If I had a kid, I couldn't wait to put my kid to sleep to some Green Day! They have a bunch of other groups too like Aerosmith, Queen, etc. (Tracks 1- Basket Case, 2-Longview, 3-AI, 4-BoBD, 5-Welcome to Paradise, 6-When I Come Around, 7- Warning, 8-Sweet Children, 9-Good Riddance, 10-Walking Contradiction)

"21 Guns" from Green Day Bluegrass Volume 2: The Bluegrass Tribute by Pickin' On Series - I hate country music but LOVE 21 Guns so I had to buy this one song. Actually pretty good, but haven't bought whole album yet or Vol. 1

"21 Guns" from Saxophone Hits Of Today! by Saxophone Hit Players - it's just sax on top of the Salute to Green Day singalong version, but it's still nice cause I've never heard GD on sax b4

"21 Guns" from Lacking Supervision by The UVM Top Cats - it's a college a cappella group, they're not bad

I hate the vast majority of Green Day covers.

It even took me a while to like the AI cast album. I only liked it once I saw the musical.

I don't like Green Day covers/tribute things. The AI cast record is something different though, since Green Day plays the music, and I really like those songs.

And the Vitamin String Quartet and Rockabye Baby "covers" aren't that bad to occasionally listen to.

i usually avoid the covers because a lot of them are really bad of what i heard years ago. I'm not much of a fan of the AI musical either (i'd love to see it but i don't have any interest in the CD and the songs recorded)

Although i do think the VSQ are quite good cos they change it slightly

I really thought I read somewhere (on GDA/GDC?) that Green Day did the music, except for all the violin parts and stuff like that of course. Now I'm starting to get confused, haha.

There is a person on youtube who does fantasic acoustic Green Day covers. Her youtube name is KCFoxNavy. She has a great voice as well. And yes she did cover 21 Guns.

No, you're right, Green Day did play the music for the OBCR.

The credits in the booklet have them listed for guitar, bass and drums, as well, regarding the proof.

This person has a whole bunch of Green Day covers on piano, and they're all really great. All her videos are Green Day, except three, which are the Tubbies and Pinhead Gunpowder covers.
