pisquano Posted December 6, 2010 Posted December 6, 2010 Hi everybody. I was wondering if Green Day should release another compilation of B-sides and other songs which didn't make American Idiot and 21st Century Breakdown. Probably many of you think that it's not already time for another Shenanigans, but I've written down a list of the songs which could make this record and there are many. American Idiot era: 1. I Fought The Law (Clash cover) - 2004 2. Too Much Too Soon (American Idiot B-side) - 2004 3. Governator (American Idiot B-side) - 2004 4. Shoplifter (American Idiot B-side) - 2004 5. Favorite Son (from Rock Against Bush, 21 Guns B-side) - 2004, 2009 2006 to 2008 1. The Saints Are Coming (with U2, Skids cover) - 2006 2. Working Class Hero (John Lennon cover) - 2007 3. The Simpson Theme (soundtrack) - 2007 21st Century Breakdown era: 1. Lights Out (Know Your Enemy B-side) - 2009 2. Hearts Collide (Know Your Enemy B-side) - 2009 3. Like A Rolling Stone, That's Alright Mama, Another State Of Mind, A Quick One While He's Away (part of the 21st Century Breakdown Deluxe Edition) - 2009 4. When It's Time (American Idiot, The Original Broadway Cast Recording) - 2010 5. (Cigarettes And Valentines, Olivia, ...) - 2010 (sorry if I'm missing something) Eventually, counting that some of these songs (I'm thinking about The Simpson Theme or point 3 of the 21stCB era or Cigs and Valentines and Olivia which will likely make the forthcoming live album) probably wouldn't be included in this record, there are at least 10 songs that could make the album. Maybe with some previously unreleased tracks, I think that a record with these songs would be great. What do you think?
SparklingWaterMan Posted December 6, 2010 Posted December 6, 2010 Im waiting for Cigarretes and valentines I hope one day that record came out !!! But your idea is pretty good.
pasalaska Posted December 6, 2010 Posted December 6, 2010 Maybe after the NEXT album comes out, or if GD release a few extra unreleased songs. I just don't think there are enough songs there to release as an album. The thing with B-side albums is you have to have alot of songs to make people buy it, because it's obviously not going to be the best of a band's material, seeing as they are B-sides. but I would love to have all those songs on an album at some stage.
LinziLetterbomb Posted December 6, 2010 Posted December 6, 2010 yeah i think after the new studio album has been released they should maybe do another version of shenanigans. That would be quite cool
Blond-O-Sonic Shimmer Trap Posted December 6, 2010 Posted December 6, 2010 Lights Out>most of 21st Century Breakdown. I think they have enough to make another album, not too concerned though since I already have most of them but for the fan who discovers them in 5-10 years it would be nice, like I didn't have to go through their bsides when I got into them as they had the album with all of them on it already.
†...HAUSHINKA...† Posted December 6, 2010 Posted December 6, 2010 I would love to have all those songs on an album at some stage.
Kilgores Posted December 6, 2010 Posted December 6, 2010 I really hope they will do it once, and I want a C&V studio version too,
sara_gd Posted December 6, 2010 Posted December 6, 2010 It would be nice I think. Maybe between 21stCB and the next album, but that could mean that they delay the new album with the promotion of this "Shenanigans" album, and I don't think they'll do that. Maybe after the next album, or as a full B CD(?) of the new album.
fadi_7 Posted December 6, 2010 Posted December 6, 2010 that's awesome idea i really hope they will do something like that and they should add for them cigarettes and valentines and olivia but then they will have to record them but it's ok ....... but the problem is what the hell will they call it?!!!! shenanigans 2 !!!
gdpony Posted December 6, 2010 Posted December 6, 2010 that would actually be awesome There has to be more songs they haven't released!
Holly Ann Posted December 6, 2010 Posted December 6, 2010 That's a great idea. I love hearing all that kind of stuff.
ParadoxAndPlaid Posted December 6, 2010 Posted December 6, 2010 I'd love that. And for all we know there are even more B sides we've never even heard of. If only we could just call them up as a collective group of fans and suggest this sort of thing to them.
sampy Posted December 6, 2010 Posted December 6, 2010 Sure they have enough (extra) material for release an album, and I really hope they're doing it at some point.
Blood Sam and Booze Posted December 6, 2010 Posted December 6, 2010 Maybe after the NEXT album comes out, or if GD release a few extra unreleased songs. I just don't think there are enough songs there to release as an album. The thing with B-side albums is you have to have alot of songs to make people buy it, because it's obviously not going to be the best of a band's material, seeing as they are B-sides. but I would love to have all those songs on an album at some stage. That's not necessarily true. Many bands come out with a B-side record that actually should have been on the album or replaced a song on the album itself. For instance, Korn, they had some amazing B sides that should have been included, ie, "It's Me Again", "Too Late I'm Dead" "Last Legal Drug"...so although they are considered B sides, they actually have enough or even greater of potential to be added...
GDJonny Posted December 6, 2010 Posted December 6, 2010 Yeah, I can see them doing another after this coming album.
sirmazer Posted December 6, 2010 Posted December 6, 2010 I really enjoyed shenanigans but if they do another one, I would want stuff that hasn't been released yet. All those songs mentioned earlier I have already but with the live dvd, new record, and Billie Joe on Broadway; I don't see this happening anytime soon.
The Platypus! Posted December 6, 2010 Posted December 6, 2010 I don't think they should not untill they're about to end as a band.
euphoric-pareidolias Posted December 6, 2010 Posted December 6, 2010 i think its a good idea, but after their next album at least... dont think there is enough material atm
Hermione Posted December 6, 2010 Posted December 6, 2010 Since I have the songs I wouldn't buy it unless there was new stuff , but it'd be really cool for anyone who doesn't already have the songs. I know I'd appreciate being able to buy a CD of all of them instead of having to hunt them down individually if I'd recently become a fan and was looking for all their music. There's more than enough material to fill it up already so I don't see why not. They could put Drama Queen or other previously unreleased tracks on there too :eyebrow:. Come to think of it why on earth hasn't Drama Queen been released one way or another yet? It was ON the album up until the last minute AND Billie's sung it live so it's not like they wanted to keep it under wraps, dunno what they were thinking not making it a b-side! Let's have Shenanigans 2 so we can hear it.
Ellenkc Posted December 6, 2010 Posted December 6, 2010 In a few years maybe, it took 6 albums to make Shenanigans so I don't think there is really enough material there for it yet.
Katarina. Posted December 6, 2010 Posted December 6, 2010 Yeah, it would be nice to have all those songs on one record. Maybe after the next album. So live album, new album and next.. another one with B-sides/unreleased stuff. That would be great.
Hermione Posted December 6, 2010 Posted December 6, 2010 How can anyone say there isn't enough material yet when the OP has listed 17 songs? Plus Drama Queen and songs we haven't heard of. Shenanigans only has 14 songs
