PleasedToMeetMe Posted December 4, 2010 Posted December 4, 2010 How cool would that be? A 20th anniversary two disc deluxe version of one of the greatest albums of all time, Dookie. It could have a new mastering job, maybe end it with On The Wagon like originally intended and give it a good booklet with photos and notes and all that jazz.. The second disc could have some of the Dookie demos, maybe some unreleased material and the Dookie version of 409 In Your Coffemaker . . . hell, throw on the Finn/Cavallo remix of 2,000 Light Years Away from the Jerky Boys soundtrack. Lets hope 2014 is a good year.
Katarina. Posted December 4, 2010 Posted December 4, 2010 I read the thread title and thought "Wait. Dookie is from 1994. It's 2010 now. It's been 16 years, not 20. Am I missing something?" Anyway, I have the Dookie record, and the demos, and Shenanigans with the B-sides and stuff on it. So I don't see what could be so great about a new edition. I'd love to see a new recording/better recording of the Dookie version of Haushinka though. That song is so great. Ah, they should play it live.
elisa Posted December 4, 2010 Posted December 4, 2010 at first i seriously thought you meant it was coming out. then i realized dookie was released 16years ago. it'd buy it.
oda Posted December 4, 2010 Posted December 4, 2010 thats a nice idea, but i'd rather have them focusing on new material.
alyrebe04 Posted December 4, 2010 Posted December 4, 2010 That would be amazing... But I think it wouldn't be sold on CR... That sucks
Vespertine Posted December 4, 2010 Posted December 4, 2010 It would be nice. Maybe they could re-record some songs, idk haha.
Tubbie Head Posted December 4, 2010 Posted December 4, 2010 Please go tell the guys your idea xD It would be nice. Maybe they could re-record some songs, idk haha. I think a re-recording of the songs would be amazing, from Dookie and also Kerplunk and 1039

Rosie May Posted December 4, 2010 Posted December 4, 2010 thats a nice idea, but i'd rather have them focusing on new material. Same here. It's pretty cool but I like the version I already have, and if there was a new one, it would probably be really hard to get the old ones.
Anja Posted December 4, 2010 Posted December 4, 2010 I think a re-recording of the songs would be amazing, from Dookie and also Kerplunk and 1039 That would make MY LIFE Same here. It's pretty cool but I like the version I already have, and if there was a new one, it would probably be really hard to get the old ones. offtopic but your sig is awesome!!
Vespertine Posted December 4, 2010 Posted December 4, 2010 Please go tell the guys your idea xD I think a re-recording of the songs would be amazing, from Dookie and also Kerplunk and 1039 Yeah, I've ALWAYS wanted them to re-record some of their old songs. It would make me so happy!
whatshername0303 Posted December 4, 2010 Posted December 4, 2010 It would be very nice! But it's in...wait... 4 years ?
Nobody_Likes_You Posted December 4, 2010 Posted December 4, 2010 I don't like the idea tbh. I mean it would be great with all the bonus stuff an all that shit, but Dookie is just and only the raw Green Day for me, and it should remain this way!
whatshername0303 Posted December 4, 2010 Posted December 4, 2010 Haha, I feel that same! I don't think I could get excited about it (even though of course it would be awesome) because it's ages away! Yes and we have the time to have another "original" album...
Hermione Posted December 4, 2010 Posted December 4, 2010 I already have all those things so it wouldn't interest me . As long as I have the CDs of each of Green Day's albums, and all the other songs in some form or another, I'm happy. If I'd just got into Green Day and hadn't bought Dookie yet it'd be pretty handy though. I'm torn over the idea of a re-recording. It would definitely be interesting to hear, but ehh I dunno......at the same time I don't like the idea of the original being messed with. The songs could never have the same authenticity if they were recorded now, when they're not "in the moment" and the lyrics are in the past. Kind of like how I feel about the re-recorded Welcome To Paradise........it sounds good enough but the song feels diminished, the power and urgency of the authentic original isn't there.
bass boy Posted December 4, 2010 Posted December 4, 2010 i got SO excited when i read the title. Then i got sad. Then i thought on the bright side and now i think this would be awesome as fuck.
green day is Posted December 4, 2010 Posted December 4, 2010 Please go tell the guys your idea xD I think a re-recording of the songs would be amazing, from Dookie and also Kerplunk and 1039 I was thinking the exact same thing. I think the coolest thing ever right now, would be a rerecording of 1,039/Smoothed, what with the better equipment and Billie Joe sounding different.
maz17 Posted December 4, 2010 Posted December 4, 2010 You got me very excited then But it was a lie I do not like lies seriously though, that would be awesome
