Non-Single Ai > Singled Ai?

just relistened thru the American Idiot album and I've come to the conclusion that non-released songs (like Letterbomb Whatsername etc) are better than the songs released as singles

just wanted to see if anyone else agrees with me on this

At first you think the singles are the best, and then you think they suck, the other songs are better. Then later on you start realising the singles really are the best songs.

I've thought the non-singles were best for a while now. Whatsername, Extraordinary Girl, and St. Jimmy were my favorites right off the bat, with Letterbomb being a close second. And Homecoming blows my mind too...

I think the singles are pretty great too though... I never was a huge fan of WMUWSE, but BOBD, Holiday, and American Idiot are good.

I think Jesus Of Suburbia is really good, but I can't remember it being that successful as a single? I only ever remember hearing it on the radio once.

I love all the songs though. I just would have to agree that my favs are the non-singles

I suppose you go through stages with songs on each album, one day it's like this song is awesome and then on the other days it's this song is better and the other song not so much. But that just might be me, but I do definitely prefer some songs on the album that weren't released over some that were.

I have trouble picking American Idiot apart and breaking it up into pieces. For me, personally, it needs to be listened to in its entirety in sequence as it is a story. Though, I do often(less so, recently) skip American Idiot when I listen to it because it is really just the prologue to the story(also because I am now finally, after all these years, just starting to recover from it being so overplayed). For me, the actual story begins with J of S. My favorite track is Homecoming which could never have been successful as a single since it's so long. So I guess if I had to choose, my answer would have to be non-single AI.

I think the problem is that you are forced to listen to the singles tons of times and this make them intolerable to you sometimes...I think this is the main cause that made you think the non-singles are better...anyway even if my favourite is one of the son-singles (give me novacaine) I can't say the non-singles are better if I think that JOS or holiday are among them!

As i heard the singles more often, i preferred them before but now having listened to all the songs many times, I really like them just as much as the released singles.

Whatsername has been my favourite song off AI for a long time now, again this could be because I got bored of the singles. When I first got AI, Holiday was the song I listened too the most. I Couldnt get enough of that middle part wit just the drum and bass.

Personally, I like the non-singles better. To me, Homecoming will always be better than Jesus Of Suburbia, per example. But that may be different from person to person! I don't think it's fair to say that some songs are better than others because they are all really great.

Well it's only a matter of opinion. Plus singles get overplayed so a lot of the time you get sick of them quicker.

I love both the singles and non-singles but there was the time that I got sick from the singles. Esp, Boulevard of Broken Dreams. It's become to the point when I saw the music video on the TV I wanted to change the chanel. the song was really overplayed.

And I wish Letterbomb, Homecoming and Whatsername were singles too.

personally i think all the songs are great of AI but I found that I can listen to the non-singles over and over again without getting tired of them

the only single that I could do that for would be Jesus of Suburbia just because it varies so much during the song

the only song I'm not huge on is BOBD...

I really love each song on AI, and could listen to the album over and over...

I do like all of the songs, but I prefer the non-singles, maybe just because all the singles were overplayed. The only exception for me is JOS because that is my favourite song ever and I don't think I could ever get sick of it.
