maz17 Posted November 20, 2010 Posted November 20, 2010 (I searched and didn't see a thread about this yet - sorry if there already is) A mashup album of American Idiot The album was an internet-only release with no intent of commercial gain; Dean Gray asked fans who enjoyed the album to donate to charities that Green Day has been known to support. Nevertheless, only 10 days after its November 18, 2005 release, the American Edit website was shut down, reportedly after receiving a cease and desist order from Green Day's label, Warner Records, despite the fact that Green Day lead singer Billie Joe Armstrong had expressed an interest in the album after hearing "Boulevard of Broken Songs" on the radio. The website returned online soon after, but without the music. All of the songs can be found on youtube, and they are pretty awesome The track listing is... American Jesus Dr. Who on Holiday Boulevard of Broken Songs The Bad Homecoming (Waiting) St. Jimmy the Prankster Novocaine Rhapsody Impossible Rebel Ashanti's Letterbomb Greenday Massacre Whatsername
greendaytone Posted November 20, 2010 Posted November 20, 2010 Yeah i remember this was pretty controversial at the time. Worth a listen for sure, i can see why Billie Joe "expressed an interest" in it.
Noy Posted November 20, 2010 Posted November 20, 2010 oh i have it on my computer its have some good songs on it XD
Katarina. Posted November 20, 2010 Posted November 20, 2010 I'm sure there have been threads about this. It's just my opinion, but I hate Boulevard of Broken Songs.
euphoric-pareidolias Posted November 20, 2010 Posted November 20, 2010 im not sure if i like them or not
greendaytone Posted November 20, 2010 Posted November 20, 2010 im not sure if i like them or not Same, something interesting about it but you can't beat the real thing!
Vaso.Of.Suburbia Posted November 20, 2010 Posted November 20, 2010 Some songs are good... But I prefer the original American Idiot
ANJI Posted November 20, 2010 Posted November 20, 2010 Ive got the album...there's some pretty good songs in it
November's Storms Posted November 20, 2010 Posted November 20, 2010 There were some great songs, some real let downs. American Jesus, BoBS, St Jimmy the Prankster and Novocaine Rhaposdy especially are fantastic. And I love the name Dean Gray. Took me ages to get the reference
Zero. Posted November 20, 2010 Posted November 20, 2010 I only knew about one of these songs it was the Dr. Who on Holiday, because my friend loves Doctor Who more than anything and likes Green Day as well, so she had to show me.... I don't really remember what I thought of it, I think I turned off halfway through 'cause I got bored.... But maybe I should give them a listen again
in_your_face Posted November 21, 2010 Posted November 21, 2010 well, i've heard of Boulevard of Broken Songs and that Billie liked it. i thought it was a mashup. i didn't know it was an album.
TheSaltOfTheEarth Posted November 21, 2010 Posted November 21, 2010 I think it's okay. Quite entertaining, some of it. I like BOBS and American Jesus is quite...interesting as well.
Velocity Posted November 21, 2010 Posted November 21, 2010 I always really liked American Edit, except Dr. Who on Holiday is a little strange. Otherwise it's great
gdpony Posted November 21, 2010 Posted November 21, 2010 I had never heard about this before ... I'll look for it

Impossible Rebel Ashanti's Letterbomb Greenday Massacre Whatsername Just the last one I can't seem to track down... probably because the name is identical.

heyohbilliejoe Posted November 21, 2010 Posted November 21, 2010 haha, i like them (although some of them are quite 'pop'y and could have sounded better more 'rocked out') i like dr who on holiday (mainly cos i love the dr who theme tune) and i also like boulevard of broken songs novocaine rhapsody is probably my favourite oh actually, greenday massacre is quite cool though i don't think any of them beat the originals though
poisonoak Posted November 21, 2010 Posted November 21, 2010 i actually quite like it at first i was like this is just another fan parody and funny and such, but then come to think of it "Dean" must've spent loads of effort on it lol
