Mega Man Posted November 19, 2010 Posted November 19, 2010 Hi, I've been looking for many of the Green Day radio singles that I used to hear on the radio a while back when I was young. I've suceeded, but one of them I just can't pinpoint. I'm looking for the version of Holiday that cuts the bass solo part, but the USA radio single I just bought is pretty much identical to the album version, only backmasking "fag." Can anyone help me out?

Like, right after Billie yells whatever he yells before the bass part, it goes straight into the "yeah!" from the part in the album version where he normally sings "just cause, because we're outlaws, yeah!" Hopefully this makes some sense.

Let's be honest, it's not exactly pop-radio-friendly subject matter! When I listen to the alternative rock station (the more "grown-up" alternative), they don't cut Billie Joe's "seig hail" part out, they just censor "fags". But yes, there is a radio edit of "Holiday" that cuts out the entire section and goes straight from the guitar/bass solo to "Just cause, because we're outlaws yeah!" And it sounds...weird. I bet it does.

Hopefully this makes some sense. Bingo. I still prefered the album version, but it creates an interesting mix of the song. But the main reason for me wanting this on CD is for nostalgic value. I'm guessing it would be filed under "Pop" Remix (like Boulevard of Broken Dreams). I still can't find the single (odd, for a release that was so widespread). It doesn't seem to be listed on GreenDayDiscography.com, but it might not just be listed clearly (the Boulevard of Broken Dreams page never made the distinction between the Pop Remix and the Clean Radio Edit). Thanks for the responses! EDIT: It might be on the Australian and/or Japanese single. Does anyone here happen to have a copy to confirm this?

Yeah, but with it being so popular, wouldn't some have surfaced? That's why I think it's either on the Australian or Japanese single.

I can't really describe it - and I failed to find it yet - but it sounds .. so electrical, especially Billie's voice and the drums. And the guitar is looow. I really dislike it. When I find it someday, I can share it.^^
