Catsername Posted November 19, 2010 Posted November 19, 2010 A few Broadway casts, including the cast of American Idiot, got together with Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS and recorded some songs for a "Carols for a Cure" CD. Here's a video of them recording. The part with the American Idiot cast starts around 1:16. I think it's great that they did this, and their rendition of "Do You Hear What I Hear" sounds pretty awesome. What do you guys think? Edit: Sorry if this is in the wrong forum, I won't mind if it gets moved.
whatshername0303 Posted November 19, 2010 Posted November 19, 2010 Thanks for shaking the link! It's great

I normally can't stand Christmas music -- not the music itself, just how badly it gets overplayed and rammed down your throat this time of year -- but in this case I'll make an exception. Just another example of how phenomenally talented the AI cast really is.
E!!i Posted November 19, 2010 Posted November 19, 2010 it's boring but for a good reason Thanks for shaking the link! It's great shaking

The cast really is great, and Alysha Umphress's voice always gives me tingles lol. it's boring but for a good reason shaking ^Hahaha! I didn't notice that!
plaid ducky Posted November 19, 2010 Posted November 19, 2010 I posted about the CD in the "American Idiot Musical" thread a while ago. You can purchase the CD at any of the Broadway theatres (including the St. James) as well as online at the BCEFA website (link). Here's a sample of the beginning of the song: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/1641504/DYHWIH.mp3 I strongly suggest a purchase of the CD. It's $20. It's a 2 disc set. It goes to a great cause. All the songs on there are beautiful and I don't think you'll regret it.
euphoric-pareidolias Posted November 19, 2010 Posted November 19, 2010 thats pretty cool, thanks for sharing
November's Storms Posted November 19, 2010 Posted November 19, 2010 Using it for When It's Time and now this? They really love Wake Me Up When September Ends!

All the renditions sound great from the videos that were shared. Hello, Santa. :eyebrow:

I may be going to NY on a business trip so I can check it out at the St. James.

In the press release, it said that it's going to be available at selected venues like The John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington, DC; The LA Phil Store in Disney Hall, and The John W. Engeman Theater in Northport, New York. However, I've checked the Kennedy last week and they only have last year's. Oops sorry! My bad at searching XD But thanks for the info! I didn't know you can get it at the theatres too. That's awesome! I may be going to NY on a business trip so I can check it out at the St. James. No worries. The American Idiot thread moves fast sometimes. As far as I know, they're only selling them at the theatres until the end of the winter BCEFA collection which is December 5th, I believe. They might have leftovers at the merchandise table but I believe that's up to the theatre. At the end of the each performance, several of the cast are in the lobby with buckets for the collection and if you donate at least $20, you can get a CD. They also have signed posters for $80 and bracelets made out of guitar strings also for $80. Remember all of the money goes to charity. No one in the cast or the company sees the money. All the Broadway as well as some off-Broadway and tour cast do this drive every spring and winter. It's actually a little competition among everyone, which ends with Gypsy of the Year on December 6th and 7th. Gypsies, or the non-leads, from each of the shows perform a number. I've heard it's quite entertaining.

I've never seen one of those before. And a signed poster too? *sigh* I'd get all of them if I could.
Vaso.Of.Suburbia Posted November 19, 2010 Posted November 19, 2010 I'm not a big fan of the musical, but that's so nice
