(I hope that no one has created this thread already! i searched!) EDIT: I just noticed i had a typo in the question, and i dont know how i can go back and fix it! EDIT: Thank you mod who changed the name of the thread!
Desensitized09 Posted November 18, 2010 Posted November 18, 2010 How has Green Day made an impact on my life? To put it simply, they've made my life better.
Burnout98 Posted November 18, 2010 Author Posted November 18, 2010 How has Green Day made an impact on my life? To put it simply, they've made my life better. I agree, and i think everyone here would agree with that!
pasalaska Posted November 18, 2010 Posted November 18, 2010 They've pretty much impacted on every aspect of my life. I've travelled 3 continents because of them, met some amazing people, made me proud of who I am... I know I'm a better person because of them.
Zalex Posted November 18, 2010 Posted November 18, 2010 They havent. I hate them. Jk. Well I met some of my best friends because of them. But I've also met some fucking terrible people because of them. Although the good part about the terribly rude, obnoxious people is those people make my life more entertaining for me and my other friends.
fadi_7 Posted November 18, 2010 Posted November 18, 2010 who i am now is because of them and i'm very happy about it
MCC Posted November 18, 2010 Posted November 18, 2010 Honestly, I can't fully descibe the impact Green Day has made on my life. Their music has always been there to uplift me, motivate me, calm me, etc. I know it has been said before, but I can find songs to fit ANY mood I am in and that is such a blessing in my life. I have never found that with any other band/musician. Green Days music has seen me through all the highs and lows in my life. Struggling to discover the real me during my college years. Enduring four failed eye surgeries that left me in bed for weeks at a time with nothing but my music to keep me company. Coping with my fathers battle with cancer. Countless hours of traveling with my husband with GD blaring through the speakers. Celebrating GDs' comeback with AI with my husband. Rushing to buy 21CB on the 15th of May after our wedding so we could experience listening to the whole album on our honeymoon. I am the person I am today because of GD and I could never thank them enough for that.
JoeMcHugh Posted November 18, 2010 Posted November 18, 2010 They've changed my musical taste for the better! I am so grateful for that, otherwise I would still be listening to crap. Their attitudes towards things such as not giving a fuck and doing their own thing also get me through some crap times. Finally, their music makes me hard, so i'm not complaining.
ANJI Posted November 18, 2010 Posted November 18, 2010 They changed the type of music i listen to...i used to hate any rock music before. They have made me dress differently (more punky/rock clothes) and inspired me to learn guitar
AnnA™ Posted November 18, 2010 Posted November 18, 2010 Hard to say, but I'll try... They completely changed my musical taste - really opened up a whole new world for me in that way. Just the music alone means a whole lot, and I believe it has changed me as a person. For some reason I think I'd be totally different if I kept listening to those radio stations I used to listen to. I guess I found something to believe in and for the first time ever I got very committed to something. That has gotten me through a lot of rough times. Through them I have met good people, bad people. Mostly good ones, that have become real friends to me. Through Green Day I've discovered other bands that I love and I'm very grateful for that. I've had the time of my life thanks to them. These live shows especially, and everything surrounding them meant the world to me. I've had my best adventures following them around Europe this summer.
Vaso.Of.Suburbia Posted November 18, 2010 Posted November 18, 2010 They inspired me, they changed the way I used to think and they gave me something to look forward to... More music or a concert... To sum up, they have made my life better and have given me hope
greendepent Posted November 18, 2010 Posted November 18, 2010 thanks to them I meet my girlfriend How awesome is that?
sara_gd Posted November 18, 2010 Posted November 18, 2010 All of those things you have said, plus I think there are lots of things that they did for me indirectly, like discovering bands that I maybe I wouldn't have known without them or some things about myself that probably wouldn't be like that if Green Day didn't exist/ I didn't know about them. You never know, maybe I would be something similar of what I am today without them, maybe some other thing would have impact my life, so I can't really say "I would be listening to crap music" or "I would be like everyone else". But what is clear is that they had an impact in my life in almost every possible way, and even if I don't know how my life would be without them, I prefer it like this
Laurenn Posted November 18, 2010 Posted November 18, 2010 Green Day changed my taste in music, and inspired me to learn to play guitar. They have also helped me get through all the things that go on in my crazy family. Without them i wouldve probably went mad, or worse.
euphoric-pareidolias Posted November 18, 2010 Posted November 18, 2010 they totally saved me. one year was a horrible year and it was literally terrible, people i loved died/left and just everything was shite and all i had was Green Day and their music helped me through all that year and without their music i dunno if i would have lasted to live another year cos it was so bad on a happier note, theyve introduced me into better music and influenced me in a lot of ways
Harriet Posted November 18, 2010 Posted November 18, 2010 They've made me who I am in almost every way, and I truly have no idea what I would be like if I had never heard of them. They inspire me, they motivate me, they make me happy, they give me hope when everything else has turned to shit. I'll never be able to thank them enough for everything they've done for me.
Bastard of 1967 Posted November 18, 2010 Posted November 18, 2010 Good topic. I've said this in other contexts and will briefly repeat it again here. Billie, Mike, and Tre lived real, real close to the edge for a long time, somehow without going over it, yet learning from it and maturing from it in the process. Even as an older teen and high school dropout Billie had a gift for words and music, and for expressing very complex, dark feelings through them...and consequently Billie and his bandmates brought back from the edge a whole lot of incredible stories to tell. Now after 22 years they've got a huge catalog of music that covers the spectrum from teen angst, crushes, and first dates to the quarter-life "OK I'm done with school now what the fuck do I do with myself" crisis, to love, addiction, political realities, marital strife, and death. Whatever mood you happen to be in, whatever burdens you're carrying with you, whatever your thoughts at a given moment happen to be, it's highly likely that Green Day will have a song that speaks to you at that moment. Their music helps me sort out a difficult world, and for that I'm grateful.
unexplainedbacon Posted November 18, 2010 Posted November 18, 2010 I discovered green day during a tough time in my life, and they helped me through it without a doubt. And all Green day fans feels like a family, and this site is just friggin awesome.
LMC Posted November 18, 2010 Posted November 18, 2010 Oh, many things. They have encouraged me to start playing music, and to be more creative in general. I've met alot of cool people thanks to them, here on GDC and IRL. They have helped me improve my english quite a bit. If it wasn't for the hundreds of GD videos I have watched my English would suck. Y'know? :eyebrow:
PunkJustStarted Posted November 18, 2010 Posted November 18, 2010 I don't even want to think about what life would be like without them. I have alot going on with my family that I try and keep to myself just because I don't want to start more drama in my house if my parents would find out how I feel about them and my family. Green Day's music is the only thing that keeps me going and just the lyrics alone have helped me through alot. Its teached me alot and I love them for that Green Day is simply amazing and a huge part of my life.
Smoothed Out Posted November 18, 2010 Posted November 18, 2010 I found out who I truly was because of them, and allowed that to come through without worrying what those around me will think. They made me who I am
Burnout98 Posted November 19, 2010 Author Posted November 19, 2010 Good topic. Thanks!! i gave you a rep point for your comment! These stories i'm hearing are very inspirational, and it makes me think about how Green Day can change the lives of many people in so many different ways!
Ilda_25 Posted November 20, 2010 Posted November 20, 2010 Green Day is my daily "escape" from my life.
RocketPower Posted November 20, 2010 Posted November 20, 2010 Ironically, they've helped my grow up a lot.
