The Breakdown

Just found this and thought I might see what you think about it. The whole smashing the guitar thing, not the selling it off thing.

On the 1st of December 2009, Green Day, were in auckland before the start of their Austrailian leg of their tour. on that night the played in a well known bar along the viaduct...

And later that night, in true rock superstar fashion, they smashed a jack daniels guitar that was up on display behind the stage to the cheering of the crowd...

it could be yours if you want a unique piece of rock history!!!!

Photos to come,

And there is a video of them smashing it as well... :)

I'm very sure this would be real because there were people talking about this around that time last year although nothing had since been said

I had heard rumors that they had played earlier around the time they were here. It wasn't even big news here so that's probably why nobodys really heard about it. Apparently, they were at this bar and the band who were playing sucked so they were like fuck off and let us play.

That video should be interesting...

Seems a bit counter-productive, don't you think?

"Fuck you guys! You suck! We're playing now!"

*smashes guitar*

"Oh wait..."

After all, I doubt that their roadies carry s zillion guitars around when they just go to bars.

I would assume that they smash the guitar after they play.

haha i hope someone finds a video!

Idk, we've (or least, I've) never heard of this secret-show till now....

And there's no picture (that I could see) of said guitar.

Seems a little strange to me =/

nvskjalbvfhsbahja It seems pretty unlikely but I still wanna know if its true.

:runaround: it would kind of suck because I would kill to see them live in a bar in my city!

Posted

really hope this is true!!!! :runaround:

Whoop, they better show us pics'n'vids first :D

But, for some reason I don't really have the feeling this is fake. idk.

Posted

Hope it's true for those in NZ :D

Posted

Hmmm this is interesting but I would like to see pics or vids.

Posted

hmm?? What if it was the Tubbies?

But.. How can this be.. We didn't know about it at all.

Hmmmmm that seems very unlikely, They didn't smash guitars very often either  ..

Posted

This time it's really: Pics or it didn't happen!

I mean, really this sounds super strange and fake to me, but who knows :)

Posted

Seems kinda fake, I'm pretty sure we would've heard about that show for sure...

But awesome if it's true, and I'd love to see that video!

hmmm.

First of all, why would the band be in NZ on the 1st when they had to be all the way in Perth, WA on the 4th? That doesnt make sense. No major airline flies Europe/US>NZ>Aus

Secondly, Tre himself stated that he was in Perth for a week before the Perth show, so he couldnt have been in NZ. They couldnt have played without Tre.

I'm iffy about this...

Posted

I was about to say exactly what Aska has just pointed out. Perth is very far away from new zealand.

And everyone knows Tre was in Perth for a good week before the Perth show.

And nothing gets by us Green Day fans, I highly doubt something like this could happen without someone finding out.

It was probably one of those Green Day tribute bands, and the poor guy selling the thing has just suffered a severe judgment error.

Them crazy Kiwis...

I remember hearing about this. Im pretty sure a mate told me about it ages ago.

Someone that she knows or their parents were at the bar at the time or something.

I really wanna know if its true though, coz that would be awesome.

Posted

but seriously, if Green Day played a spontaneous set in a bar, we would know about it.

something like this doesnt just go over all our heads.

Looks like the guitar exists.

hmmm

I would believe it if it werent for the timing of the whole thing.

I mean, who goes all the way to NZ only to come back to Aus and then back to NZ?

it's just illogical
