Awkward eye contact with the band

I've had eye contact with everyone from the band, and none of it was awkward, BUT!

There was a seriously awkward glance exchange during Davey Havok and I during one of AFI's sets before Green Day were schelduled to play.

It was during Miss Murder, I think, and Davey came right over to my side of the stage, and he stared directly at me while singing a line ... But his gaze was way too intense, really full of emotion from the song, and so I ended up looking away first. And then felt like a total loser afterwards, because, hello, it was DAVEY FUCKING HAVOK, not some randomer in the street.

I'm still kicking myself over it, haha.

Oh God, me too. All three shows I went to this summer I kept having awkward glances with Davey. And you're right, his stares are crazy intense. I used to be a pretty big AFI fan, so I knew the words to several of AFI's songs. And not a whole lot of people around me were into them at all, so I was one of the only people who were enthusiastic to see AFI.

It was especially bad at the Holmdel show. There wasn't a pit so I was standing in my row of seats all by myself, singing along while everyone else was sitting in their seats looking bored. He kept coming over to my side and singing sort of at me, and during the songs I didn't know, he still came over to my side and I was thinking "uhh, sorry I'm a shitty fan, Davey :whistle ". Awkward to the max.

I've always been so busy dancing and singing at the concerts I've been to over the years to

to ever even pay attention to that. But when I got to go on stage at The St James after Billie's

last night on Broadway and I got to talk to him it was nerve racking at 1st. When I was talking

and he was looking me in the eyes when we talked I honestly got butterflies at 1st. After we talk

for a while I realized just how easy he was to talk to and he really seemed interested in what I

had to say. He made me feel so comfortable and at ease and the butterflies disappeared. He

is such a kick ass cool person. Every time I look down at my tattoo of where he signed his

name on my arm it puts a smile on my face just thinking about it.

heheh I had really awkward moments looking at Mike because I was directly infront of him and he would just look down and see me smiling.

I find it hilarious thinking about how awkward it was.

Alright, you shared a Davey moment so now I don't feel bad about posting mine. :)

After the Dallas show, a bunch of us were waiting by the buses. Davey ended up skateboarding and goofing around that night and then came out and walked towards his bus. Needless to say, he was swarmed by fans. He was so cool about signing autographs and everything.

I waited for a bit until the crowd had lightened up some and then went over to get an autograph. After he signed my thank you sign, I looked him in the eyes and said, "Thank you Davey" he stared me in the eyes for a bit then said, "You are most certainly welcome!"

Gonna cherish that moment forever.

Oh God, I had really awkward eye contact with Billie. It was in March the 2nd day of previews for the AI musical. Green Day was in the audience that night and after the show I was standing near a door leading backstage and someone opened it and Billie and Adrienne were standing right there. I was shocked at this point. Adrienne was looking off to the side, so I was looking at Billie and he looked at me and it was just like "oookaay." Neither of us were smiling. It was just like he's there, I'm here...all righty then lol. Thinking back I feel really weird about it now haha, but it was an amazing night nonetheless.

Wow, I had the awkward eye contact with Tre too! It was last year at my first GD concert. I was kinda near the band and they were playing She (I think, can't really remember) and I looked over at Tre and realized he was looking my way and that we were making eye contact. We both kinda nodded and looked away and I felt like a total loser after that :pinch:

Same exact thing happened to me. During 3/4 of the show, I was so lively and happy and lalala, then towards the end, my blood sugar dropped and I felt like I was about to pass out. I guess Mike noticed and mouthed if I was okay, and I gave him a thumbs up...really nice of him.

Aww, that just goes to show that Mike is a total sweet heart and cares for the fans!I really wanted to stand near Mike in the mosh pit, but I only got in the seats.

I had an awkward hand hold/touch with Tre at the aftershow at Toronto '10

Sarah and I just went up to him to ask for a photo, and I extended my hand slightly, then he just grabbed both our hands/forearms and backed off smiling at us, running his hands down ours.

Yep, that was awkward and strange.

Though Sarah reckons (and I agree with her) that it was because he recognised us from Europe, and he was trying to say 'hey, I remember you guys' but he was also trying to leave to get away from the people around us.

It was very, very strange though. Afterwards I was just standing there going 'huh?' whereas I was expecting myself to be all 'omg I just met Tre'

At Soundcheck in Glasgow last Rocktober Billie looked at my friend Mary stood next to me and smiled at her, (he likes making eye contact with people in soundcheck) she just whipped her head away and looked at the floor daring not to look at him, he then looked at me laughing it was hilarious, not awkward for us just for Mary :D

That happened to me with the members of The Rasmus. The drummer and singer smiled when they looked at me and the guitarist did this --> \m/ n put his tongue out

And it also happened with Steven Tyler, he winked at me and I was flying :D

I have so many great moments I remember from the shows where I had eye contact with the members but it never was awkward!

Billie once stepped on my hand and pretented to kick my face and we both laughed but I wouldn't really say that it was awkward :P

I definitely get a bit excited (and maybe even blush) when I notice that one of the members is looking right at me but I just try to enjoy that as much as I can because it's one of those "special moments" that just don't happen every day!

edit: I just remembered last year when Tré was saying something about my shirt at the 02 show and I stuck my tongue out to him  I admit, I felt quite embarrased after I realized it

I know the feeling....sorta.

I was looking at Billie on the catwalk, then I turned back around to Mike, and he was looking at me (not like, staring, but just looking at me with a smile on his face). I was just overcome with

"OhMigod, Mike Dirnt is looking at me.....what the hell do I do?!" :runaround:

So I panicked....and winked at him :whistle ...He winked back :D

That's about as awkward as I got  .

lol, omg, I've experienced this exact thing. At my first Green Day concert there a was a a bit of a break when Billie wasn't singing and Mike was just playing his bass, I was standing 2nd row to the front, where Mike was. I was staring at the ground for some reason but then I looked up and found Mike staring at me, but it was hilarious cause he was doing that funny ogling look thing, We kept staring at eachother, I was so surprised I forgot to smile and I was like omfg who's going to look away first?? He kept on staring, it lasted for about 5 full seconds until he walked backwards and looked away. I was like :ninja: what just happened? It was so wierd cause I don't no whether it was awkward or just plain wierd.lmao. And Billie was leaning over and he pointed at me and did this weird cheeky smile...I have it on video but the quality is so shite.. Anyway, twas all good. :eyebrow:

I've had Mike stare at me. Like proper stare at the camera.

But then I think realistically guys, they're not staring specifically at one person. Like if you're so squashed together and Mike stares in one general direction the entire people surrounding you probably think he's staring at them as well.

When I was on the barrier last year in Birmingham, Mike slapped me in the face.

No, he just slapped my hand like a high-five :) I was pretty fucking stoked about that.

I remember last year at the Paris private show, my friend who was standing on my right made some funny faces with Tré, that was funny to watch! Other than that, at the same show, Mike and BJ had a huge smile on their face when they saw my sign "Christie Road". BJ was like surprised I asked for it and he smiled... I'll never forget it! He also looked at me straight in the eyes during a "I don't care" in JOS. It happened in like 3 seconds but wow. And BJ took a picture with a camera he took from a fan, I was just under him (see my icon!) I can't even imagine the face I must have on the pic

And at the last Paris show, Mike et BJ smiled at me when they saw I was wearing a Foxboro tshirt :)

Haha yeah, I've had my share of Billie aswell. Some slow dancing during Are we the waiting, no beer though, but of course I'm not complaining!! That was the craziest eye contact ever, when I stood in front of the runway and he kneeled down, pointed at me and wanted me on stage. That was actually a bigger rush than actually being up there, cause then everything was so surreal! xD

I can only imagine how wonderful THAT must've been

And totally! It's that initial eye contact that really does it, I'll have that image of him looking into my eyes burned in my mind forever. Other crazy/surreal stuff happening afterwards just kind of flew by but it's that moment of eye contact that I remember really clearly.

I like that in lesss than a day there's 4 pages on discussion over eye contact :D

don't get me wrong, I'm not laughing at anyone or anything, I just love the notion that something as seemingly mundane as eye contact can generate so much talk.

It just really shows how the little things that the guys do in concert to make the show seem more intimate really really work

I'm exactly the same - it doesnt matter how many times you see a band, you still get that rush of adrenaline when you know that their attention is right on you. When they acknowledge you, out of a see of thousands of people. It's an amazing feeling. To me it's a bit like that feeling you get when you catch yourself right before you fall, or you almost step out infront of a car (or am I the only one who has done that?); that surge of adrenaline that makes you really feel alive.

kinda makes them sound like some illicit drug

Exactly it :)

It's weird to think that whenever they even look at somebody, or when Billie takes up any hats/glasses etc, they've just made somebody so happy. Like, when Mike nodded at my Longview sign, it was just him giving a friendly gesture to a desperate fan, to me, it was as if the world had stopped spinning

Just goes to show you how amazing they are ;)

I've gotten eye contact from Mike and Billie. At birmingham it was with Billie as I screamed at him to pull me up for East Jesus Nowhere but he evidently thought I was too old. dammit. With Mike it was more awkward.... at Wembley I was wearing a zipabble (sp?) top and I was way overboiling... so without really thinking I kinda of unzipped it. He then looked at me and was like WTF.... I was sufficiently embarrassed to suffer the heat after that.

Shh, you can still pretend there looking at you :ninja:

Mike nodded at me in Marlay Park which was really cool

The best bit of eye contact I got was during King For a Day and Billie came over to our side, he stood on in front of where I was and pulled his trousers down, needless to say I was looking there, but when I looked up at his face he was looking back at me  It was such a bizarre moment.
