Awkward eye contact with the band

I adore any eye contact with the band. I've had eye contact with all 3 of them on stage, and smiles and faces from them too, but nothing was considered awkward...for me at least.

But at the Hartford show, some creep near me pulled my tank top sleeve down so like the entire half of my chest and some of my waist was out, and I didn't notice til my brother told me, and when I did I saw Tre looking at me in my shame and I was all OH GOD IM NOT THAT KIND OF FAN SFKSJDKLSJDL

xD that's awesome. I was a total wimp and refused to wear my brand-new neon orange converse with blue and green laces to the show. I was like, fuck it. Not gettin these dirty. Hahaha.

Speaking of people wearing crazy things to concerts, we saw 3 girls who must have been 11 or 12 at the show who had written "I want Billie Joe in my pants" on their arms and legs....

oh. my. god.

that's AWESOME xD.

i love crazy things people wear at concerts :P

and NEON CONVERSE!!

WIN!!!!

I've never had awkward eye contact with the band, I've only had good eye contact.

Mike winked at me several times at both of my shows this year, and Tre smiled at me in Camden. Billie and I made eye contact during Jaded and Longview in Camden, and during Are We the Waiting in Denver.

in Camden during Billie's encore, I smiled and waved to Mike offstage and he smiled back :')

I suppose it was a little weird in Denver when I motioned to Mike that I was thirsty and he mouthed back, "you gotta wait!"

I'll go to my first gd show in exactly a week :o I really hope make eye contact with Billie, or any other member of the band.

I think if that happens, my heart would stop in that moment tho...

I'm so anxious!!

btw, like all of you have been in GD concerts, which side of the catwalk you think it's better?

I've always preferred on the right, which is Mike's side.

My eye contact with Mike in Atlanta this year definitely falls into the "awkward" category. I was on stage for Paper Lanterns/2,000 LYA and obviously all of the band members were still playing. I was in complete shock, kind of at a loss as to what to do with myself to begin with, but at one point Mike ran from one side of the stage to the other, passing right behind me. I kind of half stuck my hand out in his direction as he passed, but then I realized that as he was still playing bass I couldn't high-five him or anything. He still stuck his tongue out at me and smiled, which I thought was really cool of him...but yeah, just a tad awkward.

Billie and I made some eye contact everytime I held up my sign for JOS. It wasn't awkward though, just felt like you're talking to a friend and looking into his/her eyes.

But at my first GD concert Mike stared at me the second I managed to get into the first row. He didn't smile or anything we just looked at each other like  . It was weird.

one of my friends told me that was the best side too, but I'm still not sure :(

Guest Mia Joe

It was amazing! I REEKED of beer the next morning, he soaked my hair from root to tip. But wait is that you being serenaded by Billie on his knees? I wouldn't mind some of that!

Haha yeah, I've had my share of Billie aswell. Some slow dancing during Are we the waiting, no beer though, but of course I'm not complaining!! That was the craziest eye contact ever, when I stood in front of the runway and he kneeled down, pointed at me and wanted me on stage. That was actually a bigger rush than actually being up there, cause then everything was so surreal! xD

I've never been close enough to them to make contact.

But I don't think it would be awkward, I'd probably just smile like an idiot and wave or something.

I've only ever made real eye contact with Mike, I was having some trouble in the pit and he mouthed "are you ok?" and I just froze and nodded, which caused me to almost get pushed out from in front of the gate. But I made it. lol. But yeah Mike seemed to look my way a couple of times, it was a really rough part of the pit. They're so caring.

Aww, that's really sweet. I love Mike!

Our venue was really crazy too, but we had the best security guards, I swear. They were awesome about giving people water. And for the most part, the people I was standing next too were really cool, and we just passed the water to each other. It gets vicious in there. Haha.

Wow some awesome stories..! I read through this topic and really had to control myself not to explode of jealousy. :whistle:woot:

I was only on one concert, this year, and I can remember the night before the concert when I was lying awake in bed and thinking "What if Billie pulls me up on stage? How am I supposed to react? Do I have to say something? What happens if I have a blackout and forget about the lyrics? And shall I let go of my friend's hand or shall I pull her up with me? What am I supposed to do? And if one of the band members look into my direction?!"

...I think you can imagine how well I've slept that night. :P

The only really 'awkward' moment of interaction I had was when I gave Mike the bass charm I made him. He smiled, mouthed 'thanks!' and threw me his pick, I completely spazzed and missed trying to catch it. -a guard picked it up and gave it to me- When I looked back up he was laughing and putting the charm in his pocket. I must have been blushing so bad, I must have looked dumb. Still happiest moment of my life.

At my show in Saskatoon, Mike and I were exchanging awkward glances, then we fist-bumped and it was ALL GOOD MAN!

This summer I made eye contact with Billie. It wasn't awkward, but I kinda froze. It was during "Are We the Waiting", I had a flag in my hand and he made a sign to have it, but I wasn't able to throw the flag. I felt like it lasted so long (watching a video, I realized it took less then 5 seconds), thinking I will never be able to reach the stage while trying to make a small package with the flag. And then Billie made another sign (like if changed his mind and didn't want the flag anymore) and left. One of the security guard pulled me against the barricade (between the girls who were in front of me), I gave him the flag and he gave it to Billie. I've been looking to some videos....I'm not sure, but I think I got really close to being pulled up on stage (and I think that's why Billie made this sign and the security guard pulled me against the barricade just as Billie left).....

At least, I got my flag back after....

I had an amazing security guard named Dan right in-front of me that night, he was trying hard to make sure if was safe but also that people were able to just go crazy and have fun...which can be difficult, there was also a guy that worked that night that my mom used to work with...so it was a pretty awesome night, I felt like I was being so watched out for so when Mike 'said' what he said it totally made night

I would say...

awkwardly awesome.

The majority of my awkwardly awesome experiences had to do when I saw the Foxboro Hot Tubs in New York.

Like, Billie was drinking his PBR on stage and I was right in front of the stage and he drank some and he looked at me and I looked at him

and he handed me the beer and gave me a nod...like the sup nod and I was like, "Ohhhhhhh...." and I drank it.

Then, I was kinda sitting on the stage cause my legs were fucking killing me and I was kinda upside down or whatever and I'm just watching him sing and do his thing.

And then, he comes over to me and looks dead at me...like right in my eyes. Then, he grabbed my face and kissed me. I looked like a deer in the fucking headlights.

After that, he was singing some song and my hands were in the air like, ~yeah and then he grabbed my hand and like, ran it down his body. My face was like that

girl from American Idol who couldn't stop crying but instead of crying, I was singing along.

That night is still a fucking daze, though.

Ahh, that's so cool. =D Did you hear about the Camden show when Billie stopped to make sure that a guy in the crowd was ok? I want to say it was the guy who did the stage dive, but I'm not sure. I can't find the video, but my mom said she saw it. It's cool that they care so much.

Aw that's so nice. They really are caring. Back during the American Idiot tour they stopped playing because they saw my friend's little brother getting knocked around in the pit a little, so they made sure he was alright. How sweet is that?

Same exact thing happened to me. During 3/4 of the show, I was so lively and happy and lalala, then towards the end, my blood sugar dropped and I felt like I was about to pass out. I guess Mike noticed and mouthed if I was okay, and I gave him a thumbs up...really nice of him.

I've had eye contact with everyone from the band, and none of it was awkward, BUT!

There was a seriously awkward glance exchange during Davey Havok and I during one of AFI's sets before Green Day were schelduled to play.

It was during Miss Murder, I think, and Davey came right over to my side of the stage, and he stared directly at me while singing a line ... But his gaze was way too intense, really full of emotion from the song, and so I ended up looking away first. And then felt like a total loser afterwards, because, hello, it was DAVEY FUCKING HAVOK, not some randomer in the street.

I'm still kicking myself over it, haha.

Mike and I made a lot of eye contact at the show I went to cuz I was right in front of him. Billie made eye contact with me when he was moving about the stage and I blushed so hard. No awkward eye contact though!
