At my school, I am on the cross country running team as a grade 11 boy and for my age category, I have to run seven kms. I was recently at a large cross counrty meet several days ago for all the high schools from Ontario, and as I was running my race, I passed a section of the course where the organisers had set up speakers and were playing music. As I ran by the speakers, I heard the song "Know Your Enemy playing!" This cheered me up hugely and gave me a much needed extra burst of energy. As I neared the final stretch of the race, we had to run up a huge ski hill twice, which really sucked. However, I kept the song playing in my head and made it up the hill the second time, passing a lot of people on the way. During the last 500 meters, we ran down another hill, and I was trying to pass the runner in front of me, but he wouldn't let me. He kept cutting me off. I was worried that I wouldn't be able to pass him before the finish, when I suddenly was struck with a brilliant idea. I yelled "DO YOU KNOW YOUR ENEMY?!?!" and he turned around, looking very surprised, stumbled and fell. I was able to pass him and I finished 144 out of 514 boys. I have a few more meets in the near future and I hope that I don't run into him but if I do, I'm sure it won't be too much of a problem. Email staticnoisepodcast@gmail.com to share your story. LouLou Posted October 13, 2010 Posted October 13, 2010 I'm downloading this now...can't wait to listen to it! I'm so excited!!!
Neon Light Posted October 13, 2010 Posted October 13, 2010 Great to hear a fellow Aussie on the podcast I'm pretty sure Billie wrote "Reject" in reply to the letter he received from the grandma about Insomniac that Aska was referring to.
Maura99 Posted October 13, 2010 Posted October 13, 2010 I just started laughing out loud at the title of this episode I'll listen to this tonight; I'm looking forward to it already
Moffie Posted October 13, 2010 Posted October 13, 2010 Everyone talks about John Lennon's birthday and forget about The Ox. It was John Entwistle's birthday that day too (he's exactly 4 years younger than Lennon) but of course he isn't JOHN LENNON. -sighs- Okay, my sad semi-rant is over. Alex, didn't you tell us the Iron Maiden story before? I feel like you talked about that tour story before. You guys could hold it together without Andres and Aussie accents are kick-ass. EDIT: OH and Story Time was amazing with the music and the title, "It's Story Time with Alex and his Dulcet Tones."
jello4president Posted October 13, 2010 Posted October 13, 2010 it was a great show guys! It was nice to hear another Aussie accent!
pasalaska Posted October 13, 2010 Posted October 13, 2010 just started to listen to it. my voice sounds strange to me but that's to be expected I guess. I love the 'GDA NEWS' sound effect
Fuzz Posted October 13, 2010 Posted October 13, 2010 awesome job. Really enjoyed listening to it. All 3 of you did fantastic.
Leisha-LUNA Posted October 13, 2010 Posted October 13, 2010 Listening to this makes me miss aska, she lives in my state damn it! haha. Great show guys I got teary hearing you talk about my vest. The way he looked at me when he said goodbye I keep adding little things to this post as the podcast continues in my ear. But I just wanted to add, Aska was struggling to find the word for Glasgow and how we feel about those few shows where the boys were flat, we are jaded! I think I'm using that word correctly... Those few shows, Wembley, Glasgow, Dublin, the guys were really really emotional and sick. it was a weird and depressing experience.

GDM Posted October 13, 2010 Posted October 13, 2010 I wrote about a lot of the stuff you guys talked about this week. Insomniac is Fifteen, Terence Malick and Green Day's Influence on the Thin Red Line, and Billie on that Llama.
GDM Posted October 13, 2010 Posted October 13, 2010 Someone did scan the Q Magazine article in the thread that I posted for the article. The blurb that he was in was not in the online version.
hyz Posted October 13, 2010 Posted October 13, 2010 Nice Job once again people, Aska - love your voice!
captain peroxide Posted October 13, 2010 Posted October 13, 2010 Omfg The little vinyl squeak when we started talking about kilometers vs miles Matt, that was genius.

greendaytone Posted October 13, 2010 Posted October 13, 2010 That letter inspired the song Reject Indeed it did! Cool show guys. I liked the speculation around the next album and hearing you guys talk about tour experiences, always good.
