Tre Cool gave a very quickly interview to a newspaper of Rio Grande do Sul, where it will be the first show of Brazil (Porto Alegre).

There isn't big news in the interview but I decided to post here, sorry if I did wrong! And a thousand of apologies for my English I really tried to translate properly so you guys could understand.

"The rock'n'roll is my religion”, says Green Day’s drummer

From International Airport El Dorado, in Bogota, Green Day’s drummer Tre Cool talked briefly yesterday (11) with the report of the Segundo Caderno. He was on the phone, alert to the call to embark way to Brazil, where has four shows scheduled for this week _ the debut will be here in Porto Alegre, Wednesday (13). They will land in Sao Paulo on the same night and, and from there, fly to Porto Alegre on the following day.

It’s the second time that he, Billie Joe (guitar and vocals) and Mike Dirnt (bass) comes to the country and it’s the first time in Porto Alegre, where fans are already camped in front of the Ginásio Gigantinho, waiting for the opening of the gates. Several hold out the hope of being pulled up on stage and sing with their idols, which ensures Tre, it's very likely that will happen.

- Sometimes we pull fans to dance or sing with us. Last night (August 10) Mike jumped into the crowd, so, you never know what will happen. It was insane.

Following, check out snippets from the briefly interview with the drummer:

Zero Hora - Talk a little about how will be the show here in Porto Alegre.

Tre Cool - We have lots of music and from different periods. But we don’t do a cast set list, we prefer to think of what our fans want to hear and then improvise on the time of the show. There are some music that we can’t leave out, like Basket Case and She, but they are songs that we still like a lot of play live. Clearly, something will always be left out and someone will be hoping that we will play that, but unfortunately we can’t. Our show is already too long, we don’t have age for it anymore (laughs).

Zero Hora - Yeah, even though the fan base has been renewed in the recent years, who follows the band since its emergence, on the beginning of the 80’s, now has around 30 years. Like you guys, they are no longer little boys. The age begins to weigh in any way?

Tre Cool - Well, obviously, that which the pass of the years it makes you more experienced and better at some things. Green Day is now in full swing, we're playing much better than before. And we do the best rock show that there is, you can write this.

Zero Hora - There's a moment in the show that you do a medley of covers. They are tested before or decided on the spot?

Tre Cool – It’s random. Sometimes they are more heavy metal songs, sometimes they are songs of Elvis Costello, Beatles or the Ramones. Its fact that we will not play the same songs that we already played. Besides, it makes 22 years that we don’t repeat a set list every night just to keep fans' interest. Especially in Brazil, where I know that we’re much expected and people want to hear their favorite songs.

Zero Hora - Green Day’s still a punk rock band? Could you be able to define your band today?

Tre Cool - Today there are a lot of Green Days. You have the Broadway Green Day (the musical inspired on the American Idiot album), the Green Day live, the albums of Green Day, the people that for somehow is connected to Green Day, so it's hard to describe what kind of band we’re. When asked what we played, we say "rock'n'roll". It’s my religion.

Zero Hora - Speaking of religion, there are fans already camped outside of the venue, waiting for you.

Tre Cool - Wow, that's crazy! Well, you can tell them that they will not regret it. It will be the best show of their lives. And from yours too, show up there, its going to be crazy.
