The Band's Name

So we have all heard it from the band themselves that they don't really like their name (though I do really like it). What would you decide to name the band if it was your decision?

edit: none of you have heard them in the interview? If i find it I will post it.

He said that on Behind the Music. In all honesty if Green Day came about now, I would think it was kind of a stupid name given their music. But there is so much that comes to mind when hearing the name that you barely even notice how weird of a name it is. Band names are tricky... How can you try to convey all that you want to be in a band name?

I think Green Day is better than some of the names artist come up with nowadays e.g Limp Bizkit, Slipknot, Nickelback. They wont change it anyway now, their too far in the game to do that

At the time they chose it, it was just another name, they had no idea they'd stick with it forever. They picked a silly name and now they're "stuck with it" - they don't mind admitting it's lame and laughing about it.

Green day is a good name for a band though people usually relate the name with stoners nowadays it could mean "green" as in eco-friendly i guess with all of green days recent environmental work and stuff

Well, I'm glad I can say I love Green Day. "I love Condom" would be somewhat awkward to say.

I don't think the name is THAT great, but I wouldn't want to change it.

I actually never noticed just how weird the name was until I watched Behind the Music

But honestly, I don't know what else they could be called. I've just associated the band and everything to do with them with the name Green Day. Greendaygreendaygreenday.

A bit? It would be the strangest thing ever! But I'm glad they didn't change it. It might not be the best band name in the world, but it's simple, and I like it. It's certainly better than some names out there...

yeah Billie always says they have a bad name . hmmm im not really sure what i would name them, theyll always be green day. its kind of weird because i dont really think about theyre name ever. its like an automatic thing. i just say it and forget about it then when i see it on TV or something im like oh yeah, thats my band. like i dont even really associate the two on a regular basis

Just as youthful and silly as 'Green Day', and more outwardly obscene. Plus I love word play.
