dawn71 Posted September 17, 2010 Posted September 17, 2010 t ann sent me a message and told me that her blog on interview that she did on me was mentioned at American Idiot Talks Back on Sept. 15th. (and Billie Joe was there to hear it). I was so shocked when I watched the you tube video and heard him mention about me to Billie Joe & everyone there, it made my world. I can't thank t ann enough. When I watched the you tube video I honestly started crying my eyes out. I will post a link to the interview and post the you tube video for those who may be interested. link to t ann's Interview she did about me The you tube video
Katarina. Posted September 17, 2010 Posted September 17, 2010 Thanks a lot for posting. It's nice to see a video of this! That's so awesome
hmbscit Posted September 17, 2010 Posted September 17, 2010 That is so totally breathtaking! I discovered Green Day Mind quite by accident through GDC, and have so savored each entry. And I was introduced to you and your story by it. I have meant to say thank you to you both, but as so often happens never got around to it. This clip is just amazing, and I can only imagine how both you and t ann must feel.
Daughter.of.Rage.and.Love Posted September 17, 2010 Posted September 17, 2010 Aw, that's really great I'm really happy for you he mentioned you to Billie and everyone else there. your interview really touched me. it's admirable how you handle everything and the giving items away is just amazing <3
Moffie Posted September 17, 2010 Posted September 17, 2010 Maybe that mention will get Billie curious and check out the blog. I truly love it; T ann's descriptions are so rich with imagery that it makes you feel like you're right there. I loved the interview with you, Dawn, and I'm so happy for you guys! You are so generous and it's nice that you were brought to the attention of Billie and major people attached to the show.
GDM Posted September 17, 2010 Posted September 17, 2010 Thanks, guys, I'm glad you like the blog! I'm always surprised when folks say that they like it, cause I keep it so quiet most of the time, lol. And thank you, Dawn, for letting me interview you. Seriously one of the highlights of my blog this year.

GDM Posted September 17, 2010 Posted September 17, 2010 You SHOULD get more recognition! Sadly, everyone wants to be recognized, and it just doesn't work out for everyone for whatever reasons. But thanks, much appreciated, Moffie!
dawn71 Posted September 18, 2010 Author Posted September 18, 2010 Tanya is one of the nicest most caring person I have ever met. If not for her I wouldn't have gotten to see Green Day's Home Coming concert. I missed a lot of Green Day concerts while on deployment. With Tanya's help I got to see them twice this tour. Tanya earlier today messaged me and thanked me for my service and that she was sorry about what happened to me and I told her don't be sorry, I'm not it was my duty and my honor to fight for those who cannot. Even though I was hurt I think about what if I had never gone and the thought of that is more tragic than me getting injured. I was a combat medic and my job was to save lives on the battlefield and when I think about the lives I had a hand in saving I don't feel sorry for what happened to me because if I was not on that deployment those lives that I helped save may not have been saved. Me being in this wheelchair is just a small sacrifice I paid to save many, and I am ok with that. I want to thank Tanya for getting my story out there. I hope Green Day knows how much of an impact they had on my recovery both physical and mentally. Their music gave me the drive to fight for myself to never give up or let anyone or anything stand in my way of doing that. I'm not saying my life isn't hard or that I have won the fight. It's an everyday war I fight here at home to get up and stand on my own two feet and walk again someday. I know in my heart I will. I believe everything happens for a reason. I was deployed to help save the lives of others and maybe I am in this wheelchair to inspire others to never give up. Even though the many injured Soldiers that came home injured and are no longer at war overseas that they have a new war to fight here at home. The war of getting well and never except defeat and to keep fighting this war until we win it. I fight a this war with my body everyday I open my eyes in the morning and I will never give up and except defeat. I have been a huge fan of Green Day's for almost 2 decades now and Green Day's music has been a huge part of my inspiration that helps me make it through and I know that may not be so for most injured Soldiers, but I hope they find their inspiration what ever that may be and they use it to help them win this new war they fight daily at home to get well. I hope other injured Soldiers have the opportunity to meet people as wonderful as Tanya and also Barb. Barb read Tanya's blog and payed for me to go to Green Day's Home Coming concert. I can't thank them both enough for what they did for me. It meant so very much to me. Also thank you all for reading about me and wishing me well.
MCC Posted September 18, 2010 Posted September 18, 2010 That's so amazing Dawn! I am so happy for you!
Smoothed Out Posted September 18, 2010 Posted September 18, 2010 Wow that is just amazing, congratulations!!! I'm so happy for you The blog is phenominal and thank you for sharing it all with us
GDM Posted September 18, 2010 Posted September 18, 2010 Nice. I "saw" Tanya (through text messages) help get you to Shoreline and she was quite excited about it. She has a lot of love in her heart. Glad to see good come out of her efforts and exposure. Rep. Hope you are doing well. Thank you for your service, your sacrifice, and your inspiration. And thanks to you, Adam, for trying to help with getting Dawn to Shoreline, too. I'm glad it all worked out in the end. I can't express to you all how much 16 months that I've been blogging about the tour has meant to me. I'm completely in debt now, but hey, these things happen, lol. Also thanks to you, Dawn, for letting me interview you, I appreciate it. And thanks to David for mentioning it at the talkback. He mentioned it again last night, in passing, and Billie didn't make a funny face this time, lol. Whether he's read it or not, I doubt it, but I hope he does. AI is partially about the soldiers who went off to fight for us, and he did talk about how there have been veterans who came to the show and were touched by it since one of the characters goes off to Iraq and looses a leg in a firefight. So, take heart in knowing that. Alright, now I have to write about California, one of these days, lol.

I had no idea but want to thank you so much.* Billie made a funny face the 1st time? I didn't see that guess it was because the you tube video was a little fuzzy, It was mentioned again?? I wonder why he made a funny face? Did he mention the same part about me throwing that girls ass over the barricade? I hope not. What did he say exactly this time? is there any video of this that you know of? I meet with a doctor next month to discuss wether or not to have my leg amputated. If I decide to do it I will get fit with a prothesis and I will be able to walk again. If I decide against it the doctor says it's a 99.9% percent chance I will be in this wheelchair for the rest of my life. It's a hard decision to make. I am leaning toward the prothesis. No matter which I choose I'll never regret it or feel sorry for myself because at least I was given a choice when so many were not.
dawn71 Posted September 20, 2010 Author Posted September 20, 2010 Tanya told me that her interview of me on her blog was mentioned again to Billie Joe on Sat the 18th if anyone has a video or knows where one exists of the American Idiot Talks Back from the 18th please let me know because. I am very curious about what was said.
