The Platypus! Posted September 4, 2010 Posted September 4, 2010 Do you think the foundation of Green Days setlist will ever change? Such as; Longview Brain stew/Jaded Basket Case/ She King For A Day Minority? I really hope it doesn't happen but do you think it ever will happen ? EDIT: and Good Riddance.
jello4president Posted September 4, 2010 Posted September 4, 2010 I hope not. Do you think they will ever stop playing Good Riddance?
The Platypus! Posted September 4, 2010 Author Posted September 4, 2010 I hope not. Do you think they will ever stop playing Good Riddance? I was meant to add that song in as well I dunno I really hope not but they are going have to get rid of some songs for new songs the more they release :/
sampy Posted September 4, 2010 Posted September 4, 2010 I think those songs are going to be there like forever. Songs like Basket Case, Brain Stew and Longview and other ones you named are such a classics and are supporting that one great show and setlist and are well known also for not-so-hardcorde-fans. Just popular songs from the 90's which everybody knows, which have to be on the setlist.
Punk-tastic32 Posted September 4, 2010 Posted September 4, 2010 Those are classics, and I think it would be a crime if those ever got taken off. I think that, when they need to play more/newer songs, they won't replace the old ones. If anything they'll make the show longer. But they really enjoy playing the old, faster, more punky stuff, and that they won't stop playing them (well, at least the well known oldies )
Daughter.of.Rage.and.Love Posted September 4, 2010 Posted September 4, 2010 I don't think they'll get taken off any time soon. They're classics, they're the '90s songs that most people will know. Although lately they have sometimes replaced Minority with American Eulogy AE is probably also great and all, but a show without Minority... weh.
Katarina. Posted September 4, 2010 Posted September 4, 2010 Probably not. Not soon anyway. They're classics, especially Good Riddance, Basket Case and Longview! I don't know how many time I'll see Green Day live again (hopefully a lot), but it wouldn't really be the same if they let out all those songs.. How should they end a show without Time of Your Life? I'm so used to that, lol.
Zero. Posted September 4, 2010 Posted September 4, 2010 I think they will always stay, those songs are really the base of the setlist
JadedHaushinka Posted September 4, 2010 Posted September 4, 2010 We'll see how it goes on the South American tour but I'm sure they'll stay. Minority could get replaced by another song like AE or something else but the rest I think will stay.
Isabel Posted September 4, 2010 Posted September 4, 2010 They might vary them slightly but those are probably the most fundamental songs that people will always know, so they will always play them
Punx89 Posted September 4, 2010 Posted September 4, 2010 I don't think that songs like these will ever get out of the green day setlists, they are epic.
fadi_7 Posted September 4, 2010 Posted September 4, 2010 i don't think it will change cause it includes the best songs unless they will add more to it from the next albums
The Platypus! Posted September 4, 2010 Author Posted September 4, 2010 So everyone thinks the setlist is going to expand ?
Guest Charlotte. Posted September 4, 2010 Posted September 4, 2010 I may be mistaken, but hasn't Longview been replaced a couple of times by Knowledge? I'm not too sure, but either way I don't think songs such as Basket Case and Good Riddance will be going anywhere! I think that songs such as toyl fit into their shows so well that they just sort of can't be replaced by any other song, if you know what I mean?
Ally Posted September 4, 2010 Posted September 4, 2010 King for a day and Good riddance are such key parts to a GD show, so i doubt they will ever change. KFAD you EXPECT to be there, for most people its the highlight to the show...especially when tre's singing and dancing. And they wont change good riddance, cos that is when you know the show is over. I remember at my shows, people were leaving after the first encore...even my friend turned to leave, and i shouted "no its not over, they havent sung good riddance" and people were turning back sort of looking stunned and going "yeahh they havent have they". When they do good riddance you know its over. Longview however wasnt played at one of the shows i was at...so that could change and the others too
Guest Posted September 4, 2010 Posted September 4, 2010 somehow i don't think that they will ever take good riddance completely off the setlist.
dexymush Posted September 4, 2010 Posted September 4, 2010 if they got rid of jesus of suburbia from their setlist i think i would actually cry
Guest Posted September 4, 2010 Posted September 4, 2010 Maybe not all of them will be played. But they won't be scrapped all together.
musse Posted September 4, 2010 Posted September 4, 2010 I don't think they can stop playing Good Riddance or Basket Case... I mean, people would go insane if they did. But this is an interesting question, what will they do when they release more and more stuff and they can't stop playing the old songs? Will they just play for 5 hours so that they can fit everything to the setlist? (I wouldn't mind that.)
LouLou Posted September 4, 2010 Posted September 4, 2010 Well songs like she and minority don't get played every show. I know the shows I went to in the past week and a half, minority was only played once and out of all the shows I've been to, she wasn't in all of em Oh and I think American idiot probably has become part of that permanent setlist and most likely will remain that way
DecanoLP Posted September 4, 2010 Posted September 4, 2010 Well songs like she and minority don't get played every show. I know the shows I went to in the past week and a half, minority was only played once and out of all the shows I've been to, she wasn't in all of em Which show did you attend? Because She gets played every time... Well, they must be so sick of playing songs like Basket Case but they just can't drop them. These are the songs the majority wants to hear but it's Green Day, you never know...
AfterShock Posted September 4, 2010 Posted September 4, 2010 Basket Case and Good Riddance aren't going anywhere. I also think Holiday and American Idiot are staples now too...but Longview and Minority aren't being played at every single show anymore. That means no Warning
in_your_face Posted September 4, 2010 Posted September 4, 2010 they might. well, those are the golden hits of Green Day. everyone seems to enjoy when they play these songs.
BillieJoeObsesser Posted September 4, 2010 Posted September 4, 2010 i hope those songs stay on the setlist but sadly some will be most likely get taken off. Whatever happens with the setlist will always be awesome.
