StevieT Posted August 19, 2010 Posted August 19, 2010 What happens if you get a guitar given to you at a show
Marlon_GD Posted August 19, 2010 Posted August 19, 2010 I heard somewhere (I think Podcast 11) that you get royal treatment... wait, lemme search for the link. EDIT: Don't know, I can't find it and I'm not too sure it was on an episode of the podcast I've heard about it. Anyhow, you get to be backstage for a while, I thought (maybe back into the audience) and you can pick up your guitar later on. You have to be sure you'll get the guitar home safe, because I heard of a story where a guy that got a guitar had to go home by public transportation, but that was not to the liking of Green Day's management, so they hired a personal driver to get the fan and the guitar home safely.
StevieT Posted August 19, 2010 Author Posted August 19, 2010 Thanks but i kinda mean like how do you carry on watching the show with it do they post it or something like that. Im just intrested lol.
Katherine Posted August 19, 2010 Posted August 19, 2010 I actually always wondered that, if you just bring it back with you to your spot or what..
Fuzz Posted August 19, 2010 Posted August 19, 2010 They mentioned in one interview (with the kid that got on stage at Lollapalooza) that the band arranged for him to be driven home. During the show though, they don't let you take it back to your spot (probably a good idea, you'd be mugged or something). I'm not sure if they ask you to stay on the side of the stage with it, or tell you how to pick it up after.
StevieT Posted August 19, 2010 Author Posted August 19, 2010 Now all i have to do is get one !!!And yh i heard about that in your amazing podcasts! And yh i heard about that in your amazing podcasts!
Daughter.of.Rage.and.Love Posted August 19, 2010 Posted August 19, 2010 I don't remember who said it, the Lollapalooza interview guy or the guy on here who got the guitar (or whether that's the same guy, haha), but either of them said he was backstage for a little, and after the show got backstage again to pick up his guitar. I don't think he specifically mentioned whether he got to go back in the crowd or not, but it seemed as if he did. Now I seriously hope I didn't remember that wrong
Guest Shangri-La Posted August 19, 2010 Posted August 19, 2010 my friend i went to see them with in 2005 played longview and got to keep the guitar. when he got offstage one of the roadies asked him if he wanted to hold onto it and get it from him after the show or keep it but hed have to stay out of the pit.. so he gave it to the roadie to hold onto and after the show met the roadie at the backstage entrance and got the guitar.

That was Dan at Lolla.
GreenDayisAmazing Posted August 19, 2010 Posted August 19, 2010 When Dan got his from Lolla it shows at the end of the video them taking him somewhere probably backstage.
keefe Posted August 19, 2010 Posted August 19, 2010 You lay stunned for the rest of the show, I'm sure Green Day pampers the hell out of you however. They go out of their way to please their fans, we love them for it!
Holly Ann Posted August 19, 2010 Posted August 19, 2010 You buzz out of your head and think how incredibly lucky you are.
petros Posted August 19, 2010 Posted August 19, 2010 You buzz out of your head and think how incredibly lucky you are. this^
BreakdownBrit Posted August 19, 2010 Posted August 19, 2010 I think I'd actually die and miss the whole thing if I was given one of Billies guitars, I already have one of the Gibson BJ Guitars but to have a guitar thats actually HIS! WOW!
21st century idiot Posted August 19, 2010 Posted August 19, 2010 Well if it is a "blue" replica i put that thing on my way at home
StevieT Posted August 19, 2010 Author Posted August 19, 2010 Im pritty sure he doesnt give out blues or juniors
RockSeason Posted August 19, 2010 Posted August 19, 2010 i would try to play the song clearly. and maybe after the song i would try to hug Billie
SkippyNXC Posted August 19, 2010 Posted August 19, 2010 The crazy green dude @ mansfield was backstage in the VIP area after the show so I think he was taken backstage and remained there for the show b/c we didn't see him go in w/everyone when VIP opened...
idc Posted August 19, 2010 Posted August 19, 2010 During the show though, they don't let you take it back to your spot (probably a good idea, you'd be mugged or something). I'm not sure if they ask you to stay on the side of the stage with it, or tell you how to pick it up after. the girl in paris got to watch the rest of the show from the side of the stage, where Bill Schneider or - in that case - Adrienne are standing! Plus she got a case for the guitar
RhayaOnTheHill Posted August 20, 2010 Posted August 20, 2010 Last night in Toronto. The kid who got a guitar was in the VIP room and then taken on the VIP boat where I saw Tre cool in the room and then he went onto the dock so I'm guessing they get to meet the band after. That's crazy you get to sing on stage, get a guitar AND get to meet them!! It's out of this world!! Haha.
Lauren Posted August 20, 2010 Posted August 20, 2010 They take you backstage and they hold onto it for you. You get a backstage pass so you can get it again later on. You can go back to your spot. Then after the show you pick it up (but wait a little while for it to clear out)
