Maddy. Posted August 9, 2010 Posted August 9, 2010 Yes, this is another "I-was-thinking-of-this-in-bed-last-night" threads and I thought of you guys and your undying love for Green Day. A lot of you, I have noticed from my other thread about things you don't like about Green Day, like every single thing about them. To you I ask this question, how is this? Why do you blindly believe Green Day is absolutely perfect? Or do you prefer not to think about it because you're afraid people might class you as a hater? How come you refuse the suggestion that Green Day has faults? I'm truly interested and I hope this thread can relieve me of my curiosity. Edit: does "infatuation for" make any sense? I can't think of what preposition to use.
Katarina. Posted August 9, 2010 Posted August 9, 2010 I love Green Day. I know they are not perfect, of course, they're human beings just like us! They make mistakes, sometimes play the wrong chord, forget lyrics etc. But that's normal. I don't know, I love the guys for who they are, and I just happen to be someone who appreciates and loves everything they do.

Anyways, I'm not sure I can pinpoint one specific reason, so I guess I'll have to go with the "I like the overall sound" cop-out. I mean, when I heard American Idiot (song), I was amazed. I'm not sure what it was about it, but I guess it was just different than all the other things I had been listening to. From then on, I was hooked.

worryrockin' Posted August 9, 2010 Posted August 9, 2010 i dont 'blindly believe' that green day is perfect, well no one is, green day is just close to it. and that as my opinion not a fact. so yeah, they may have faults and i'm 1oo% blind to those faults or those faults just makes me like them even more. and i'm okay with it but they're still not perfect, if they are i don't want to believe that. it wouldnt be fun anymore if there was something that actually was perfect. so, perfect = boring, green day = not perfect which means green day = fun. HAHH oh god, totally unnecessary posting by me again.

gdpony Posted August 9, 2010 Posted August 9, 2010 I like the questions you're asking, even though Im a big fan, I can relate to your point of view. First of all, I love them to death, but they're not perfect. And well, to answer your question, my infatuation is for their music most of all, yeah they're cute I wont deny that, but I was 10 when I discovered them, so I wasnt into boys at that age. The main reason of why I love them so much, is the fact that they were the first, I dont know how to put this, "real" band I ever listened to. I was 10 when I fell in love with warning, and the music was different from everything I listened to for ex: Britney Spears, Christina Aguilera, BSB, NSYNC, Korn, Eminem, etc... they were just so new to me, that I immediately fell in love with them, researched about them, and discovered they were a great band, with a bunch of records that were so different among them. Such a wide variety of music, that over the years is what has helped me to not lose interest in them, I can get tired of AI one day, but listen to Nimrod and then Kerplunk and not be bored. And as persons, well they seem like great guys, pretty decent and down to earth, so it's hard to not love them EDIT: I also love the fact that I can relate to so many of their songs. It's a combination of lyrics, Billie's voice, all the instruments together, the whole story how they began, what they're doing now, where they got their inspiration from, how they think about music, how nice the guys are/seem to be, how awesome and energetic the concerts are etc. I don't know. I love Green Day, and the reason why I like the music.. It's a matter of music taste I guess. Good music indeed.

They work so well together, and I think that they've needed each other to keep going. Also, they make excellent music. I have to admit that I fell in love with the band way back in '94 because of Billie Joe... I LOVE his voice. There is just something about his vocals that I can't ignore, and that hasn't changed over the years. (I've always kinda been that way... It's the same reason I love U2... I love Bono's voice).
Erica. Posted August 9, 2010 Posted August 9, 2010 Lyrics, mostly. I can relate and they make me think. That's what I'm looking for in music. The music itself is another reason why I love it so much. The strings in Good Riddance, Restless Heart Syndrome, and Hitchin' a Ride. The bass in all of Dookie. It just really makes it pop, for lack of a better word. I don't want to listen to eight million bands that all sound the same. I want to listen to something that I can identify with, that makes me feel like it's worth listening to. And with the exception of 21CB, Green Day has done just that.

What drew me to green day was there lyrics there just so easy to connect with, the over all swound of there music and also love billie, mike and tre's personality although ive never met them they seem so nice and down to earth.

AAAARGH i dont know how to explain this, this just sounded reaaally awkward. AND that they're just making so friggen great music. plus that they're even more amazing LIVE!
