Too many bands, today escpecially, take themselves uber seriously and it's moreoftenthannot prentionous and annoying. Green Days sense of humor if one of the things I love most about them; they have a poetic and thoughtful side, as well as a political and intelectual side, but there's always a good dosage of humor to be had. I mean there are some songs that can both may you cry and laugh; if that's not awesome I don't know what is. So I'll be the first of many I'm sure to say King For a Day is the funniest song, and I think the line I get the biggest kick out of is "The world owes me so fuck you". But there are sooo many. What say you? ((Sorry if this thread exists, I hunted and scavengered and didn't find one ))

Not just in the full-on comedy songs but in nearly every song, their lyrics come with such a clever, razor sharp wit. That dark humour that runs through almost every song in some way or another coupled with their willingness to be totally silly in some songs is really one of the things I love most about Green Day - possibly THE thing I love the most. A band that will write a song like Dominated Love Slave and put it not at the end of the album but RIGHT in the middle gets my vote . Their humour is just so natural it fits seemlessly next to all the other elements of their lyrics.

Yeah, I'm thinking of Hitchin' A Ride, Holiday, and particularly Little Girl - that one's got a twisted smile right from the sub-title on. Of the ones that make me laugh every time, the first one that comes to mind is Too Much Too Soon - the verses are this bitchy, bitter argument, then the big FUCK YOU!! comes at the end of the bridge and it breaks all the tension. Ha Ha You're Dead has the same kind of effect.
