kristinsinferno Posted August 3, 2010 Posted August 3, 2010 i don't know if i'm the only one, but it seems like my family keeps insisting that my love of green day is just a phase. it's really starting to get on my nerves lately! how about you guys?
oneofthemrazorbacks Posted August 3, 2010 Posted August 3, 2010 I'm lucky, my dad's a big Green Day fan and so is my brother my mates aren't, but who gives a shit? I like them, and that's all that matters.
Ally Posted August 3, 2010 Posted August 3, 2010 my parents said mine was a phase, but then again they dont know the reasons why i came to like green day so much in the first place so i guess "mom and dad will never understand". I think now its been 6 years though, the longest i've ever liked a band for and still show no signs of going off them like happened with the other bands that i was "OMG THEY ARE AMAZINGGGG!" about. But year for the first 2 or 3 years my parents were like that but now they just let me go on with it kind of, "well she might get over them, but then again...ah well lets let her get on with it"
Tre_Gina Posted August 3, 2010 Posted August 3, 2010 yep i've had that but after 6 years I think they have finally got it...
CaesarSalad Posted August 3, 2010 Posted August 3, 2010 aaand sometimes they're right because it was just a phase for me. albeit a very long phase.
BIBARAGURORIA Posted August 3, 2010 Posted August 3, 2010 aaand sometimes they're right because it was just a phase for me. albeit a very long phase. This, pretty much. I almost made it to five years.
minorityxdisturbed Posted August 3, 2010 Posted August 3, 2010 With the years they will know that Green Day isn't a phase, that is what is happening with my parents, with the years, so slowly, they are realizing that Green Day isn't a phase for me.
klytaemnestra Posted August 3, 2010 Posted August 3, 2010 i think a lot of the time, they're right. i definitely went through a huge green day phase, as all my family described it. i went through four years of obsession. i'm not obsessed any more, but i still love them to death. i just don't worship everything they do anymore. my family are definetely surprised that i still like them a lot, to be honest. i saw one of my brothers after about three years and he went "wow, you still like green day?"
PoliceBoyLogan Posted August 3, 2010 Posted August 3, 2010 Fuck people that say its a phase. I've loved Green Day for as long as I can remember, And always will.
Maddy. Posted August 3, 2010 Posted August 3, 2010 For some people it is a phase, for others it stays. Not everyone stays obsessed with them (I'm sure we've all been there ) and some just stop liking them completely. Some people still love their music but don't need to know every single bit of news.
LinziLetterbomb Posted August 3, 2010 Posted August 3, 2010 My parents are always saying "Oh it's a phase, she'll get over it"...and they have been saying it for ten years!!
Miss Hedgie Posted August 3, 2010 Posted August 3, 2010 Mine said it was a phase. But seven years later. I still love my phase...i think it'll be a life long phase.
bollard_11 Posted August 3, 2010 Posted August 3, 2010 I went through a phase were I stopped listening to Green Day all together, it was in 2007, Green Day had not released anything in about 3 years and had gone quiet so don't judge me
Guest Posted August 3, 2010 Posted August 3, 2010 My mum thinks it might be a phase, not so much now though
Punk-tastic32 Posted August 3, 2010 Posted August 3, 2010 Ive had phases before- usually for a few months to a half a year. I'm still kinda early in Green Day (gasp) but if it is a phase, I'm pretty damn sure it's gonna be a life long one. Which I'm very happy about
Fuzz Posted August 3, 2010 Posted August 3, 2010 Don't worry about it. Who cares if it's a phase or not? If you like Green Day, you like Green Day. Your level of interest in them might change, but I don't see how that really matters.
LMC Posted August 3, 2010 Posted August 3, 2010 It might be a phase, just a very long (everlasting?) one!
Jaymee!! Posted August 3, 2010 Posted August 3, 2010 My parents and brother know it's not a 'phase'. The rest of my family (and friends) are convinced it is though. Only because they make up the majority of my life
Bubbles. Posted August 3, 2010 Posted August 3, 2010 Yeah I think my mum kinda thought it was a phase at first, but it's been eight years... I still love my phase...i think it'll be a life long phase. (And now I've got her listening to them + she went to see them with me in Glasgow this year ) My dad on the other hand is a bit of a prick about it, he said to me not long ago "You don't have to follow them every where they go, they're not your life." And I snapped at him like "Well actually if I was following them everywhere I'd be doing all of Europe (and not only seven shows), North and south America, Australia, New Zealand, Japan, Canada, ect... And I'm not, but by the way the only reason for that is because I can't afford to, but if I could, I definitely would... And you're right about one thing, I don't "need" to, but I want to. And for your information they are a huge part of my life, bigger than you could imagine because you refuse to comprehend things because you're always fucking right anyway, eh?" ... aand he didn't talk to me for a while after that.
FannyDefoe Posted August 3, 2010 Posted August 3, 2010 yeah...I've got the same problem... my parents noticed a change in me since I'm listening to Green Day...a positive one of course... but wtf....i don't care to be honest... I first thought ,yself that it was a phase and tested by not listening a few days...and that was sooooo hard... it was the time that i realized that i'm addicted to their music and it that it helps me getting through the day... and in the meantime I sold my soul to Green Day and I love them
November's Storms Posted August 3, 2010 Posted August 3, 2010 My dad on the other hand is a bit of a prick about it, he said to me not long ago "You don't have to follow them every where they go, they're not your life." Nice! The guys would be proud of you
Nmd Posted August 3, 2010 Posted August 3, 2010 it's true.. I wouldn't dare mention my past phases to anyone Even though I won't be "obsessed" with Green Day forever, I don't see myself to ever stop listening to their music
colour_me_stupid_ Posted August 3, 2010 Posted August 3, 2010 I remember my mom saying it was a phase when I was literally a teeny bopper fan who wanted to marry Billie Joe I think she now realises they will always be my favourite band
