greendaytone Posted July 24, 2010 Posted July 24, 2010 There may well have been a thread like this already, but i couldn't find it. Anyway, one of the key things that Green Day has taught me, is to do what you want and not be afraid to be different. There's loads more to add to that, but that kicks things off! Over to you...
lizziebix Posted July 24, 2010 Posted July 24, 2010 That it's okay to feel 16 again and just to enjoy being a fan.
Vespertine Posted July 24, 2010 Posted July 24, 2010 Anyway, one of the key things that Green Day has taught me, is to do what you want and not be afraid to be different. This. I used to care a lot what other people thought of me and I was afraid of being myself. Nowadays, I couldn't give a damn what people say about me. Green Day has helped me a lot. I'm myself and that's it.
Lyz Z Posted July 24, 2010 Posted July 24, 2010 I don't take any shit from people anymore. Before I got into Green Day, I was sort of superficial. I got into Green Day and that changed me alot. I stand up for what I believe in and I'm not afraid to make enemies because of it. I'm proud to be me. I think I'm more confident as well. Because I don't pretend to be something I'm not, so my friends like me for exactly who I am, with all of my flaws. And that makes me feel great.
Dry_Ice Posted July 24, 2010 Posted July 24, 2010 That you need to just have fun. Let the worries go. Become a child again and rock out. Change is constant and very good for the soul. Don't lose yourself among others. Believe and stand up for what's right/what you believe. And remember to always stay true to yourself and be you; however fucked up or crazy that is.
bollard_11 Posted July 25, 2010 Posted July 25, 2010 They taught me a new sex position :eyebrow: Seriously they taught me to be myself and to come out of my shell. I am the confident person I am today thanks to Green Day
hey loria Posted July 25, 2010 Posted July 25, 2010 Before I had Green Day, I had no idea that there were so many good people in the world, so that's certainly something I've learned; but what they really taught me was that while life is definitely full of bullshit, there's plenty of different ways that I can push through it.
Micky Posted July 25, 2010 Posted July 25, 2010 Thanks to them I now stand up for what I believe in. Now I need to discuss everything people I know say, if I don't agree, while before listening to Greem Day I used to say 'yeah, ok, you're right'. And that was pretty much it. And I don't care any more what other people think of me or of what I do. And I'm learning english Everything I know comes from their songs (and GDC )
marta_gs Posted July 25, 2010 Posted July 25, 2010 Anyway, one of the key things that Green Day has taught me, is to do what you want and not be afraid to be different. same here. I'm so thankful to Green Day. I'm sure that I'm not the same person if I've never known Green Day. seriously... I'm not gonna say that they changed me, I don't know if those are the right words, but I can say that they are like an "influence" for who I am now. (and what a great influence!) they encourage me to be who I really am, and not be afraid what people think about me. I do what I want and act how I think it's right. if others don't like, who cares?
alaniluau Posted July 25, 2010 Posted July 25, 2010 Green Day has taught me that punk is pretty damn cool. I've also learned that it's okay to stand up for yourself and have beliefs that differ from those around you.
captain peroxide Posted July 25, 2010 Posted July 25, 2010 That no man can eat 50 eggs. Figured I'd say it before anyone else does.
NaturalxDisaster Posted July 25, 2010 Posted July 25, 2010 The most important thing they taught me is that I have to do, tell or think what I want, and I don't have to worry about everything, to be optimist and all those things... Never run in the rain with your socks on, that's really a good advice too
NothingButYourImagination Posted July 25, 2010 Posted July 25, 2010 To stand for what I believe in, to not care what other people think, and I think I've become more of myself because of them. And they've just helped me growing up and saved me from the mainstream crap on the radio. And to not jack off a cactus 'cause I'll only hurt my hand & the cactus's feelings.
minorty13 Posted July 25, 2010 Posted July 25, 2010 Not to take anyone's shit and not to settle in life Plus, I finally figured out what the word Strychnine means! And malachite
Angela. Posted July 25, 2010 Posted July 25, 2010 That life's too short to spend on trivial, petty shit, so go out and be yourself. Don't be afraid of pushing yourself, try new things. Enjoy life, because today could be your last day. And above all, work your ass off to obtain your dreams, because nobody's going to just hand it to you on a silver platter.
lizziebix Posted July 25, 2010 Posted July 25, 2010 That no man can eat 50 eggs. Figured I'd say it before anyone else does. Why the heck don't I know what this means?
justcause Posted July 25, 2010 Posted July 25, 2010 Why the heck don't I know what this means? It's a Bullet In A Bible reference - and actually, Luke can. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AYJFZwxoi_8

frankiessister Posted July 25, 2010 Posted July 25, 2010 It's a Bullet In A Bible reference - and actually, Luke can. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AYJFZwxoi_8 Hey there, you took the words right out of my mouth, I was thinking about Luke too. Now what has Green Day taught me? I would say they've helped me to be myself again. After spending a whole decade buiding a home, having and bringing up kids and what not, I just gradually buried my own person. Green Day brought out the real me again, so I can have a life of my own and not define myself through other people. They set me free and made me a happier and more complete human being, that's why they really hold a very special place in my heart.

Isn't nice to find a band and their music that reminds us that after creating and living our life, there's still a younger self/life for us to still live? I think they remind me to enjoy life.
1039slappygirl Posted July 25, 2010 Posted July 25, 2010 Pff... Where should I start? One of the most important things I think Green Day has taught to me it's to be honest with myself. Always be me and defend the things I really believe in without giving a fuck caring about what people may think. I've learned to don't be afraid of that or anything else that's not worth suffering for. Question everything, do what I want, chase my goals, and just do the best I can and enjoy the time I'm living today
Carnation Posted July 25, 2010 Posted July 25, 2010 What I have to say is pretty much like what everyone else had been saying but... yeah, Green Day has, like has been said, taught me to not be afraid, stand up for what you believe, and not give a shit about what people think. I mean, that's more than I could ever ask for. I used to be quiet around everyone because I was afraid someone would judge me if I was too 'random' or 'weird' around them. Now, it's like, well, everyone is different, and if I'm not myself now, I'll regret it forever; I don't want to waste the rest of my years being someone I'm not. It's pretty badass that Green Day can influence people like that.
Punk-tastic32 Posted July 25, 2010 Posted July 25, 2010 The classic "Don't give a shit what anyone thinks about you" attitude. Pre-Green Day I was kinda of the nice girl, going out of my way to make sure people thought I was nice and sweet and make me feel accepted, even though I was kinda on the outside. Then the timing of moving to Singapore and Green Day really aligned, and now, even though I'm not extremely popular- my name is out there because I'm different. I have used that to build my individuality and my attitude. Some people think I'm a trouble maker, some people think I'm a punk, some people think I'm just plain non-conformist. Long story short, Green Day has taught me that life is too short to care what other people think about you. Live life in the moment, because when you're older, you don't want to think 'I shoulda done...' Pretty generic, I know.
