Best hand job ever!

I was watching a couple of live videos on youtube and I thought to myself , working as security must be a pretty good job. You get paid to be at green day concerts and most of the time you stand there. Of course you have to be tough but getting paid to go see green day is gotta be awesome.

EDIT: I wonder if the guards hang with the band members.

Definitely not the best job ever. You have to spend a lot of time away from home/your family, you have to put up with stupid concert-goers a large part of the year. But it's probably still up there as a pretty awesome job, you get to travel all over the world. I really doubt most of the people working security think "oh man, this is all worth it just because I get to be with Green Day".

Plus, you can't just stand there rocking out to the show. You have to watch the crowd, and for the most part, have your back to the stage.

yeah but for someone like me who is itching to leave the house , it is the best job i can think of besides doing green day podcasts but im pretty sure you don't get paid for it.

I'd hate to work security I mean I know they are SRS BIZNIZ at gigs and people get on their backs, but literally they have peopoels lives in their hands. Think how serious it is if someone passes out, its your job to make sure they are safe. You miss seing someone pass out and they go under that crowd the worst can happen and it has happened, people die at shows every year.It must be such a shit job, dealing with passing out people, drunk arses causes trouble and having to work such unsocable hours

I thought instead of Green Day (or any band) having there own security, it was just security that works at the venue that do it.

i'm friends with a ~60 year old lady who does the whole security guard bit at the arena and the stadium. so, she got paid to see ac/dc, metallica, kiss, iron maiden etc. she actually loves doing it, but she's also the kind of person who likes shutting people down and she has a good teacher voice (because she's a former teacher...)

i don't think i could do it though. i'm a bit of a wimp.

You talking about venue security or GD security?

One of my friends works at the Liverpool Echo Arena, he likes it despite working 4pm to 4am and having to sit through pop concerts.

He also got to roadie for Clapton because of that job though...

Well thats part of the responsibilities.

Well that would be a great job as well cause you can see other bands but then for every good show you work , you gotta go through 10 hannah montanna concerts. But then I don't see 10 year old girls causing much trouble.

Green Day have their own secuity crew in addition to the venue security.

I was talking gd security , if I was offered a job for justin bieber security , I woudln't take it unless the pay is really good.

Being a security guard doesn't mean you get to pick which concerts you work at and where you're stationed at the concert. My brother does some security work the odd time and he is just told that he's doing x, y and z at whatever show is lined up for that external company.

I'd say it would be really good cause you would be trying to hold off thousands and thousands of screaming girls

Wouldn't it be Green Day security which just follows them around while walking around the venue and there hotel and the venue security for people in the mosh.

I meant as like gd security , but security for venues doesn't sound that bad .

I don't think it's a really great job. I mean basically just just watch all kind of screaming fans with your back to the stage. Especially when you're a fan of the band who's playing I imagine that to be torture sometimes. Knowing that something really awesome is happening behind your back but you can't turn around because you have to watch teenager going wild.

yeah after a few days my dick is going to be sore.

Yeah but if you're gd security you probably go on tour with them which means quality conversations with the band members.

Oh,first time, when I saw the post I misapprehend, that you were talk about GD security. I was like : "huh, best job? You can see GD only, when they come into your country and then you can't enjoy the concert ,cause you have to stand and keep a watch of crowd..." but then I realized what we are talking...and I say- that seems like a good job xD It's like a dream to work with Green Day...but I think, that seems like a dream's job,but it can lose the speciality, when you do this work for a long time...but IDK...I'd be most happy person in the world,if I'd could to polishing stage (for example) and go with Green Day during whole tour. But then it might not be so rare and perfect, to stand under the podium as a fan...

It wouldn't be the best job ever, I wouldn't like to be responsible for the safety of that many people, and like others have said, you have your back to the stage the entire time. But it would have it's good points too I suppose.

I honestly think those kind of fans would be vicious, tons of them would be fainting and stuff the second Justin Bieber would come on stage, I bet some of them bite as well. :ermm:

I'd rather be Green Day's hairdresser so I could hear all the gossip to be honest.

I wonder is being a roadie for them a good job? Would you get to hang around with the band much?

Posted

Do they actually travel with the band, though? As far as I know, each venue has its own security guards.

Yea thats what I was thinking. They probably have there own security for when they are walking around the hotel and venue and all that but thats probably it

I'm pretty sure that the security guards are employees of the venue. But I wonder if they get any interaction with the band, they are probably there the majority of the day.

I know for a fact that they have at least one guy at many shows. I've seen him in two or three recordings and he was at the show I went to. He's the guy that tells everybody to get their hands in the air before stage dives.
